This. There's a reason why SA have only lost 2 odd series in last 7-8 years. They truly are a tough team to beat.
Reckon they should have declared earlier?Poor defensive captaincy has not just cost Lanka the match but the series.
Herath or Amla, I would go with Amla.Man of the match?
Yep check my earlier post.Reckon they should have declared earlier?
Yep check my earlier post.
I reckon an extra 5 or so overs would have won them the game.
300 runs were more than enough on this surface, and SA would have had to bat an extra 15, 20 overs.
Don't forget rain took away some overs.
Man of the series should be Amla
Amla was way too defensive, but at least he got the result at the end of the day. SA hold on for a series win and they're back to number 1 in the rankings. A job well done. And yet they continued to bat.
Poor captaincy mate
His performance in this game and a bold declaration in the first game. No one really stood out throughout both games. For what?

Ok, probably him thenI changed my post to Perera. He took loads of wickets. That's three 4-wicket hauls in 2 Tests.
When Lanka got to 400 odd, and South Africa 12/2 the match was gone.Amla was way too defensive, but at least he got the result at the end of the day. SA hold on for a series win and they're back to number 1 in the rankings. A job well done.

You guys are just jealous of my SA team. When was the last time we lost an AWAY series in tests? special team SA. If only they had some quality spinners then everyone else would be dreading this team.
Tough luck Convict, you never deserved the rank tbh.
SA rightly back where they belong.
Considering your chaps are the only ones who have beaten us in 8 years, it wouldn't surprise me if the battle for the top 2 is once again between SA and Aus.Yeah. We won by a quirk in the rankings system.
Though to be honest I'm not sure how I rate this new post Kallis and Smith team.
I don't rate Peterson or Duminy at all with the bat and Elgar doesn't look particularly special.
South Africa have still earned the number 1 ranking but I'm confident we can bring them down.

That being said, both teams still have a few wrinkles to iron out. Aus are still overly dependent on Clarke and Johnson, while we need better top order performers.
