The 100 Greatest Cricketers - Geoff Armstrong

Yea he is above his brother but Ian wasn't that bad how come not even in a list of 100?

He was a good batsman but certainly not an ATG by any means.

His brother was on a different level as a batsman.

Yea but experts do rate him for some reasons for example he was a very good number 3 for Australia.

Those are superb stats for a no. 3 batsman in any era.

I havn't seen them bat live, but i always keep hearing about Greg Chappell's heroics and have read up a few on him.

I was first introduced to Greg through this video -

I've never heard critics mention Greg and Ian in the same breath.

Maybe someone who has seen cricket in that era can answer why that is the case, better than me.

That was a very good series i have seen most of these Legend of Cricket videos excellent work by ESPN.

Gregg was better no doubt about that maybe that's the reason Ian is gone in shadows, I have seen this happened alot in cricket for example Chanderpaul was a very fine bat but because he played with Lara he will always remain in shadows.

Hobbs
Hutton
Bradman
Lara
Richards
Sobers
Gilchrist
Imran
Warne
Marshall
Akram

My point is that Inzamam couldn't even make it among 100 damn cricketers. Such a remarkable cricketer according to Pakistanis, yet he couldn't make it among 100 cricketers?

Hitman :D

Stallion__ lets see if hitman can find inzi name here :p

Going on the basis of the looks on ARs,

1st XI- Sobers, Imran
2nd XI- Botham, Hadlee
3rd XI- Kapil
4th XI- keith Miller

8th XI- Kallis

Now this is so absurd and unfair to Kallis. He has been rated behind the likes of Benaud, Nourse or Proctor which is so unfair.Certainly deserves to be ahead of these names atleast. Any neutral would say Kallis is atleast better than Proctor or Nourse who aren't even regarded as the top 5 SA cricketers of all time if we include Barry and Graeme Pollock.

IMO, Keith Miller should have been in 2nd XI too along with Hadlee. Botham goes in 3rd XI while Kallis along with Kapil comes in 4th XI.

Benaud, Shaun Pollock and others can follow.

Completely agree with you both Miller and Kallis deserve to be promoted.

The only unbiased list can be created via statistical analysis, and that too using several meaningful parameters to decrease "selection bias" as much as possible.

Fortunately, I am attempting just such an analysis.
