As part of the preparations for the T20 World Cup 2024, England is aiming to secure an unassailable lead in the four-match series by winning the third T20I against Pakistan. The match is scheduled to take place today at Sophia Gardens in Cardiff, Wales on Tuesday, May 28.

The first match of the series at Headingley, ended in a letdown as not a single ball could be bowled due to continuous rain in Leeds.

In contrast, the second T20I at Edgbaston Cricket Stadium in Birmingham proceeded without any weather disruptions. England emerged victorious by a margin of 23 runs, successfully defending their score of 183 by dismissing Pakistan for 160.

According to Accu weather, There is 40-50% chance of rain during the time when the games has to start. Chances are looking very bleak so far, I could be another washout.

England's weather is pathetic. Pathetic and worst. 40-50% chance of rain still there. Shortened game will only be possible if there are not wet conditions in the ground after persistent rain.
 
No Buttler and even Archer may be rested. PAK won't get a better opportunity to beat England

Yeah but England now have their strategy down. Phil Salt won't throw his wicket away to imad and try to attack him since he knows shadab is up.

England will learn from the last game and will attack sheddy like no tmr. And ik Bobby, highly highly doubt it that he brings abrar on for shadab.

Only players that are droppable for Bobby is Imad for abrar, Amir for abass, Fakhar for Usman.

Shadab will only be dropped if he is exposed brutally for the millionth time. He was dropped for the Ireland series to avoid negative clout. Against england Bobby can use the sane excuse he used for sheddy in world cup, in the Nz 2023 series and in wc that the competition is tough, The sides are strong, its a batting friendly game or the iconic Shadab is my best bowler, he just didn't take any wickets and was expensive

If we just consider bowling skill only, is Shadab really best spinner in Pakistan right now? If that's true then it's really bad for a country with rich legacy of Qadir, Saqlain and Ajmal. We are told his batting and fielding gives him edge over his competition. I really don't like this logic. In India, team management drops Chahal and prefers Jadeja for the same. Jadeja hasn't delivered for us ever in ICC knockouts.

Mate our acc emerging cup team demolished a near full strength Afghanistan team.

Shadab is not the best spinner in the country, that wouldn't even be the case if every spinner in the country broke their arms and chewed their finger nails off.

Here are a few spinners better then shadab

1) Abrar
2) Mehran mumtaz
3) Zafar gohar
4) Sufiyan Mustiqeem
5) Usman tariq

And here are a few allrounders better then shadab

1) Salman Ali Agha
2) Imad wasim
3) Qasim Akram
4) Mubashir Khan
5) Saud Shakeel (He's not much of a bowler but he ain't going for 50 for 4 consistently like shadab is)
6) Chacha (I hate chachu, but comparison wise he's superior to shadab)
7) Amad Butt (He's a fast bowling allrounder, and unlike Shadab, he has proper test class experience batting at no 8 and has a few centuries here and their)

^^ Each of these players has superior stats to shadab in List A, FC, Test and the few who have represented PSL like abrar, Usman Tariq and have represented Pakistan in acc emerging cup or A list international tours like qasim, Mubashir, mehran and have faced bowlers like mujeeb, and have bowled to batters like nabi or most international Sri lankan batsmen have all done 100x better then shadab will ever Do on his life.


Don't listen to the Misbah clique, they'll frequently present arguments such as This is the best team we could have possibly selected but we shpuld have kicked imad wasim and Amir out. They said the same thing in 2023 wc saying theirs a lack of talent and this was the only team we could have selected.

Chacha, Shadab, Azam, and previously Nawaz are genuinely the worst players to ever represent Pakistan with even past club level safraish hacks like anwar Ali being superior to these 3 midgets.

I watch domestic, I watch acc emerging cup and I watch PSL and I watch a tour series. And I can confidently say Our Acc A team sent in 2023 would dominate our 2023 World cup team and beat them 5-0 in a series. I'm not kidding, I'm dead serious.
 
Can we talk about today's game only in this thread and not make it an individual player's thread?

I think Shadab should be replaced with Abrar considering he is not good with the bat and ball both. At least Abrar is a specialist spinner so he will do better than Shadab in the bowling department and batting was already pathetic overall so don't worry about it.
 
we cant have too many bowlers that is the issue..they need to pack the team with batters who can bowl part time as it doesnt make a difference if ours so called world class bowlers play as the outcome will be the same.

This squad is so crap bit logically this is your best bet 2 aggressive openers, mixed with an aggressive 4 and 5. If you wish, add saim and try saim at no 4 with imad at no 5 and azam at 6 and make it as aggressive as possible.

That's your best bet.

Rizwan and Babar will kill the innings, and fakhar is gonna crash if he comes outside the PP. Azam is useless but he's the only one you can claim can swing to the stands.

Chacha is useless anyway.

Good combination, only problem with your line up is that rizwan is batting too high up the order.
Should be batting after shaheen

Any person who watches domestic, acc emerging cups, A string tours etc etc would know that the current Pakistan squad excluding fakhar, have players in domestic that are generally superior to main string. Especially the allrounders.

The allrounders that Pakistan employs are all Club level, Again people can laugh at me all they want for claiming ACC > Pakistan 2023, in the same way they laughed at me for claiming sarfi 100 and imad's 5fer against Ireland was goated before they all wiped their faces in tears once Pakistan lost to Ireland.

I know what I'm talking about, I don't go by stats. I see a player, I watch their technique and temperament and form, and instantly know who's superior and who isn't.
 
If Shadab gets dropped now for the second time in around 2 weeks…the PCB needs to make it clear that he isn’t in their plans and release him like they did with Hassan Ali

Enough of this nonsense.

There might be a full game today and it might swing because of the cloud cover.

I'd play this line up going forward, but Imad at 5.

For this game, I'd bring in Naseem for Abrar because there might be swing on offer.

i am a big Imad supporter, but please he aint a number 5 batter.

If Azam Khan is not good enough to be a solid number 5, then he should be dropped.
 
Hopefully they will call off the match in good time so we're not sitting around waiting.
 
Good luck if you think saim or shadab are going to get dropped. Babar will field the same team

Even I know Imad isn't a no. 5, but this is the only solution to the problem with the current squad.

Aside from Fakhar and Shadab - no one is good enough to play no. 5.

You either play Shadab or Abrar.

This is where we are at, looking for miracles. Rizwan is just not suited to T20’s and is like the black plague for Pakistan’s fortunes when it comes to chasing or setting up 200+ totals unless it’s Uganda etc

They should have just played all the games in the midlands, we had some rain earlier today but looks good for the evening. Going all the way to Wales for cricket is just asking for trouble lol

Pakistan isn't getting smashed. We are going to win, Chacha is going to bring the cup home and tell the Indians if they want to host the next T20 world cup in 2026, they need to come to Peshawar to pick up the trophy.

It takes Pakistan around 10 overs to settle in.

Our ideal scenario is to bat the full 20 overs, but restrict the opposition to only 10 overs to chase, with no revised DLS score.

PSL is too big for him. He led his side in sindh league where he flopped along with losing all the games.

The least I expect from anybody posting on a cricket forum, is to be able to identify who is a bowler, who is a batter and who is the keeper.

But that’s hardly surprising when you mix top order batsman with tailenders in the current team :yk3

The fans in England are not like the filthy ones in Pakistan - they are very well mannered - Baber obviously needs to get laid to release the tension because he ain’t a shoe lace compared to virat or rohit in terms of stardom

I've seen a podcast from Imam ul haq where he spoke about getting sworn at by female fans in the crowd.

However Babar should just give them a bit of banter back and they will quieten down.

I’ve experienced this , usually always raining in wales ! Although Cardiff is a pretty cool city esp the Bay Area .

Pakistan batters need to up their game today , English pacers will want to attack early

British fan are defo more rowdy but the attitude of some Pak players even ex players is arrogant. Go to any ex England player , he will be happy to chat or sign something
