Pretty stupid not to declare after Swann, now they should ask Trott to throw the bat (if he knows how)

This is getting pathetic. Im off to sleep and will wake up at 6am for the real cricket

England just wants to work australia. Theyre enjoying their struggle in a losing match.

Siddle ends the misery. Only right he took the last wicket. Great peformance from Siddle, 6fer.

Now time for Phil Hughes. :)))

Pretty much a blessing in diguise because Strauss looked like he wanted to bat until Trott got to Lara's record.

Looks like there will be a load of pressure on Australia now. Hughes is a pathetic batsman and should fall fairly early meaning Ponting will need to do a lot of donkey work in the middle.

England should target at least 4 wickets by the end of today.

225 overs remain in the test (half way through)

Australia will have to bat for the majority of those overs to save this match.

they will probably have to bat the entire number of overs lol. England were batting at a decent rate, over 3 runs an over. I expect Australia to go a lot slower than that.

Going by the trend if the poms win this match by an innings, they're sure to loose the next test at SCG. So, it'll be better for them to avoid an innings victory.

Good logic, that means they'll have retained the Ashes lol.

Aussies going at it here! being postive! Need a 500 run opening stand here lol!

They need two batters to score double ton and one to score a century, if they are interested in saving this match.

Lets hope he do a Sehwag 300 runs..
let's hope he doesn't try and emulate a Sehwag here lol. Sehwag isn't as good in the second innings anyway.

Plus he needs to bat as long as possible. Not only just to waste up as many overs as possible to achieve a draw, but also make it so that the middle order doesn't face the ball too early (decreasing chances of a middle order collapse).

Big improvement. 0/30
Problem is these aren't the sort of guys who are able to grind in make a draw. Katich would have been great for this situation but he isn't playing. Watson and Hughes are too aggressive, as is pointing (though he's capable of scoring big, but his form isn't good). Hussey these days isn't playing as the accumulator he used to, but more as he does as a limited overs player. Haddin's too aggressive too. Smith simply isn't a good enough batsman.

The only guy pretty much is Clarke. But he's out of form.

Agree

Ok, game is interestingly poised.. good batting by the openers so far but England are still well ahead. They need a 150+ foundation for their out of form middle order.

Need to get 2-3 hours sleep now before waking up in the early hours for the T20. No rest when it comes to cricket. :afridi

For the sake of the series, I am hoping that Aus can script the Great Escape. It will be nice to see some fight from Aus batsmen for a change.

215 overs to go in the match. Australia need to bat only 200 more. Come on boys!

A fighting 50 from Watson, he needs to go on, the conditions are good to increase average.

Ponting needs a good score here, if its his last Ashes, he would want to have good memories.
