The Ashes: England v Australia | 2nd Test | Lord's | Jun 28-Jul 02 | Day 2

If England can score 500 by the end of the day tomorrow, then they will have enough time to bowl out Australia in their 2nd innings. But then England bowling is full of trundlers.

Who will bowl them out. They don't have any spinners

Pope is such a streaky player. One of those who absolutely piles up the runs in county cricket but never looks 100% convincing as an international batsman. Well, for now, he’s still in.

Super flat pitch. Nothing for the bowlers here. Australian pace is creating some false shots from batsmen occasionally. Otherwise, this is a batting paradise.

Like Starc will wreak havoc on helpful pitch lol He is crap regardless.

Starc leaking runs, however, he hasn't bowled terribly, he could've had 2 if things went his way

Aussies flat, lacking energy and ideas.

Perfect day for England so far.

Austarlia will wait for mistakes from batsmen. Their approach is being relentless doing the same thing over and over. If England is a bit more selective they can bury Australia to the ground.

Pitch has gone dead.
Australia need some batsman errors.

Hazlewood is semi fit as well. So it is entirely up to Cummins to do the job for 4 tests includnig this one. A workload that he may not enjoy very well.

Duckett getting some good fortune but deservedly so, he’s played really well today.

Green and Stokes you can draw a parallel.

Both all rounders
Both unfit
Both don't do much in both departments
Both bowl a lot of noballs. This is third noball from Green

Not sure how serious t hat injury is. They are a bowler short. Someone who was doing the holding job.

Nathan Lyon leaves the field with the physio after sprinting in for a catch

Lyon shook his head as he was helped off the field by a member of the Australia medical staff. The spinner looked in real distress.

Probably done for the innings atleast. Not cramps for sure.

Ollie pope (c) pope (b) pope lol

Another suicidal dismissal. They had a chance to bury Australia here. Instead gifting a wicket with a pointless ego shot.

Attack root from the start,if you be defensive to him he will settle in and take away the game

A century is there for taking for Root. I can see even before he faces a ball. Let us see whether he cashes in.

I expected green to exploit the slope. He does alright with this tactic. But these are something you can let go easily

Just 39 overs are gone They are already 200. if England scores just 4 an over for next 20 overs. You will be against even more tired bowlers. You can bully them.

Root is an exceptional player. But he is not the greatest against short ball. You can trap him. Mitchell Johnson gave him a work over in that famous series.

Wagner tried this short pitch tactic against Brooks but he bowled at 125 kph so he was thrashed all over. Aussies are quicker

dumb from poms

they are playing it on aussiess hands

Typical brain fade bazball going in last half an hour

I understand if you are good with playing shots against short ball. But these guys are not good for all the bazball. One reason they are serial failures in Australia. They could have allowed Australia tire themselves out.

Harry Brook is the poster boy bazball batsman, I want fireworks.

Root is going to spoil his career by involving himself in this bazball cricket. He doesn't have to.

This is a mind bogglingly stupid approach from England. England had Australia on the mat with a loss of bowler.

Starc vs Wagner. There is an ocean of difference Brook in terms of pace. I know Starc is crap. But these guys are sitting udcks aginst him. That underlines how good Gill is against short ball. Probably the best in the world alongwith Rohit/Kohli. Gill pulled Starc over mid wicket for 4 non chalantly.

Update from the Australian team: Nathan Lyon suffered an injury to his right calf injury while fielding in the final session today. He will be further assessed after play #Ashes
