I will talk only about those performances which I have seen .
Best Test Knocks (without any particular order)
1. Steve Smith - 109 vs India (Pune)
2. Cheteshwar Pujara - 92 vs Australia (Bangalore)
3. KL Rahul - 90 and 51 vs Australia (Bangalore)
4. Joe Root - 190 vs South Africa (Lord's)
5. Cheteshwar Pujara - 202 vs Australia (Ranchi)

Can't go on those stats.

The best ODI bowling performance of the year was by far Amir in the CL Final. And that was only 3 wickets.

Yep they are just a guide to get us thinking!

Best Test Spells :
1. Steve O Keefe - 6/35 and 6/35 vs India
(Pune)
2. Ravindra Jadeja - 6/63 vs Australia (Bangalore)
3. Ravichandran Ashwin - 6/41 vs Australia (Bangalore)
4. Nathan Lyon - 8/50 vs India (Bangalore)
5. Umesh Yadav - 3/29 vs Australia (Dharamsala)

Away - Condition - Opposition strength.

Having said that, Rashid Khan's 2-1-3-5 (T20) @Ireland. Really? Then @WI in ODIs, 8.4-1-18-7.

In test batting, my biased opinion would be Shakib's 217 @NZ.

Test batting: Has to be Steven Smith's innings in Pune.
ODI batting: Marcus Stoinis' innings where he nearly pulled off a miracle
T20I batting: Evin Lewis unbeaten century vs India

Test bowling: Maybe Steven O'Keefe against India in Pune
ODI bowling: Amir in the CT final
T20I bowling: Shadab Khan vs West Indies as it was his debut series.

Bear in mind am in a bit of a rush so I may have accidentally forgotten some innings.

Best inning:

Steven Smith in Brisbane by a distance. His career best ever inning. England could have started the series with 1-0 lead if not for this inning.

Bowling performance:

O Keefe in Pune. I dont recall much from others really.

The performances in the biggest ODI match of the year:

Zaman - 114

Amir - 3 wickets

Test innings of the year: Shai Hope 118 not out vs England at Headingley

Honourable mention: Chet Pujara 92 vs Australia at Bengaluru

Test bowling performance of the year: Nathan Lyon 8/50 vs India at Bengaluru

Honourable mention: Shannon Gabriel 5/11 vs Pakistan at Bridgetown

Tests Batting: Steve Smith's 108 vs India First Test. Honorable mention: Hope's twin centuries at Headingley
Tests Bowling: Yasir's 5/92 in 3rd Test West Indies.

ODI's Batting: Fakhar's 114 in CT Final
ODI's Bowling: Amir's 3/16 in CT Final

T20is Batting: Gunaratne's 84 against Australia
T20is Bowling: Shadab's 4/14 against West Indies

You can't seriously rate Fakhar's knock in the final, scratchy at the start and should have been out, Amir on the other hand has the best bowling performance of the year, nothing fluky or lucky about that.

For me;
Best Innings: Fakhar zaman in CT final.
Best bowling: Amir at CT final.. I'll always remember that kohli wicket.

ODI spell of the year without any doubt is Mohammed Amir. Possibly the best bowling spell in all formats.

Shai Hope versus England for batting

Best bowling performance is Amir in CT final.
