United can win the title but that's due to the Prem full of sides being technically weak.
If United wan't to progress in Europe then they will need new CM's as the current ones have been exposed in Europe vs Bilbao and others.
Vidic is not the best CB in the world, I prefer Kompany but to win the title without Vidic is not a major achievement, He is an influential player but City have been missing Tevez for the whole season along with Toure's out due to the ACON so it all balances out in the end, Tottenham have been missing Dawson and Huddlestone for most of the season.

Not really since Dawson is average and Huddlestone would not be picked ahead of Parker
Dawson is one of the best CB's in the prem and Huddlestone's passing is sensational.

Is this Pak fan Jason Cundy in disguise?
Back in November he stated on sports bar that 8 spurs players would get into this Man Utd team and how spurs will be the main challengers to city this season. I phoned up and said to him that he was talking rubbish and I will ring him back when Utd are top and spurs are fighting for 4th come end of march. Can't wait for him to come on air this week.

I vaguely remember that call, I agreed with him in a combined Man-U/Spurs XI, Spurs would contribute most of the players
I think I even remember a Man-U fan calling, was you the guy that said Richards has only played a few games?
Yes that probably was my call. We went from one to eleven and discussed a combined eleven. It was walker that I said did not play enough games at the time to say how good a player he was. I also remember saying to him that bale was overrated and I would take our wingers Nani Valencia and young over bale and Lennon any day.
Time to get your cards on the table GA. What would be your combined Spurs-Man Utd 11?
Parker ahead of Carrick based on what exactly?
Fridel
-Walker-Vidic- Rio-Evra
Valencia-Carrick-Modric-Nani
Rooney-Hernandez
People underestimate Carrick. He is a vital cog in Manchester Utd team and when he is off boil we tend to struggle. 4 league titles and 3 CL finals since he has been at OT speaks volume for Carrick.
Sometimes it seems the English don't rate those who make the team work rather than standing out themselves. You shouldn't necessarily pick the best players; you have to have a collective identity."
In other words, don't waste 10 years trying to crowbar Gerrard and Frank Lampard into the team. Alonso dodges the bullet. "Hey," he says. "That's a press debate. I'm not saying that. But the collective ideal hasn't always been there. Paul Scholes maybe hasn't had the international career he should have. Or Michael Carrick: he makes those around him better, regardless of the fact that he's not the one who scores the most goals, or a great tackler."
End of an era, indeed.![]()
eeeeeeek. major Fission Mail thread!
Man Utd aren't as good as they used to be, arguably the best team in the world the year they beat Chelsea in the Champions League final. But they will probably still win the Premiership this year again, like they have every year of the last five apart from one decent season for Chelsea. And the end of Ferguson, you're having a laugh! Without a doubt the greatest manager of all time.
Like I said it was a decent not necessarily good season for Chelsea. They won't be winning the league again for some time IMO.
like to remind you its only still august isnt it? in football these days no one gives anyone time i would wait until may atleast to say united are finished/going to be relegated etc etc the same was said between 2003-2006 when united didnt win a league title in 3 years we had the djemba twins and kleberson and it didn't look great so yeh give it time.
Never said United are going to be relegated. You can wait till May and United won't be in top 4 and not in champions league again so if you don't call that demise then I wonder what you will.
Well it might help to wait till may then? transfer window isn't even closed yet its barely september? arsenal fans coming out the woodwork after finally winning a trophy after a decade getting overconfident meh.
Seeing us struggle in the last three years makes me appreciate Fergie even more. Fergie's retirement was the second worst thing that happened to us after the Munich Air disaster. This guy kept us in the hunt for titles and champions league for so many years and that too with so many average players such as John OShea, Wes Brown, Anderson, Nani, Cleverly, Gibson, Richardson, Blomquist in the team. He didn't splash ridiculous sum of cash on overrated players like Pogba. He was a true genius.
Fergie's teams were always built on a solid central defensive partnership and it worked so well for him.
Under Mourinho, the centre halves have been poor and that has been a major reason for the poor results.
Mourinho when he started and now...Irreplaceable manager. Highly doubt Mourinho is the right man to fill the void SAF left. Polar opposites in terms of longevity at a club.

Bump
What a prediction.
It was predictable. Sir Fergie WAS Utd. Irreplaceable.
I am going to bookmark this. I got to say, I LOVE threads like this.![]()
Sounds like a steal compared to the transfer fee they paid for Antony (amongst others) and whatever wages they will be paying him.I knew it was paid but £2mn seems excessive. At that salary Fergie should have come back as manager and I am sure they would have finished in the top 6.
I watched Anthony play for Brazil before he joined United and I didn't see anything to suggest a half decent player, but obviously Ten Haag saw an £80mn player. Just to say my instinct was rightSounds like a steal compared to the transfer fee they paid for Antony (amongst others) and whatever wages they will be paying him.
