Interesting names in the released players list.

now auction becomes even more interesting with this released players.

RCB hasn't released it's tragically incompetent captain? 8th place is again reserved for them.

What the duck is Super V?

Legendary spinner Shane Warne makes a big revelation about his clever investment which he made during the first edition of cash-rich Indian Premier League back in 2008. Warne claims his gamble to buy a miniscule stake in IPL franchise Rajasthan Royals could result in a huge payday for him in the future.

According to the report in ‘Herald Sun’, Warne was paid USD 657,000 and given ownership of 0.75 per cent for every year he played after coming out of retirement in 2008.

“Part of my deal (was) because I had retired from international cricket and I came out (of retirement), they asked me to be the captain, coach and run a cricket team the way I wanted to run it; I was the one-stop-shop,” Warne was quoted as saying by the Australian paper ‘Herald Sun’.

Royals endured a fairytale season in the inaugural edition of IPL as Warne led an unheralded bunch of players to an unlikely triumph during the inaugural edition of IPL. Not given a chance by anyone, Royals defied the odds to defeat the favourites Chennai Super Kings in a tightly contested final.

Warne was the coach-cum-mentor and then brand ambassador of the Royals. In fact, current India star Ravindra Jadeja was a talented uncapped player back then, whom Warne had backed to the hilt terming him a ‘rockstar’.

“We were the underdogs, we were the least favoured, no one gave us a chance to win. It was the first-ever year of the IPL of franchise cricket where owners bought players and players went into auctions.

Rajasthan Royals franchise is currently worth USD 200 million and Warne according to the report, believes that the valuation will be doubled in next couple of years.

“Three per cent of USD 400 million is all right,’ said Warne, which effectively means that he could earn up to USD 12 million.

IPL 2020: Final auction list trimmed down from 971 to 332 players

The IPL management has whittled down a list of 971 registered players to just 332, and sent the final list to the eight franchises on Wednesday.

A total of 332 players have been shortlisted for the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction to be held in Kolkata on December 19.

The IPL management has whittled down a list of 971 registered players, and sent the final list to the eight franchises on Wednesday.

One of the franchise heads confirmed to Sportstar that the list features 19 capped Indian players, along with 24 new entrants -- including Kesrick Williams, Mushfiqur Rahim and Adam Zampa.

Among the Indians, Robin Uthappa has the highest base price of Rs 1.5 crore, while Jaydev Unadkat -- who was the highest buy for the last two seasons -- has set himself a base price of Rs 1 crore.

This being a relatively smaller auction, a total of 73 slots will be filled by the eight franchises, of which 29 have to be overseas players.

Bidding war

And some experts, who have been following the trend for years now, believe that Glenn Maxwell -- who took a break from cricket due to mental health issues -- at a base price of Rs 2 crore, could attract big bids along with the likes of Eoin Morgan and Pat Cummins.

Jason Roy, Chris Lynn and Aaron Finch too could fetch big money. Lynn, who had a good run with Kolkata Knight Riders in the past, has proven his mettle in the shortest format across the leagues, and he could find many takers.

The players have been divided according to categories and the capped players will go under the hammer first, followed by the uncapped players. The auction is scheduled to begin at 3:30 pm.

Two players now go unsold: Yusuf Pathan and Colin de Grandhomme. Pathan's recent form has been poor and CDG's showings over the past two seasons haven't flattered him either.

16:01 (IST)
After the back and forth that involved Maxwell, England all-rounder Chris Woakes goes to DC for his base price of Rs. 1.5 crore. Nice and easy for a change, that!

16:00 (IST)
Glenn Maxwell is the next player in and his base price is Rs. 2 crore. KXIP and DC engage in an absolutely massive bidding war for his services and he goes to KXIP for a massive Rs. 10.75 crores.

15:50 (IST)
Australia white-ball skipper Aaron Finch is the next player out and he sparks quite the bidding war between KKR and RCB. His base price was Rs. 1 crore but he joins RCB for a whopping Rs. 4.4 crore.

15:45 (IST)
Cheteshwar Pujara also goes unsold. Not a good day for India's Test specialists! Jason Roy is the next name out of the bag and he goes to the Delhi Capitals for Rs. 1.5 crore.

15:43 (IST)
Robin Uthappa, who won the Orange cap in the 2014 edition of the tournament, is sold to Rajasthan Royals for Rs. 3 crore. Given they lost Ajinkya Rahane, that is a sensible buy. Hanuma Vihari, meanwhile, goes unsold.

15:41 (IST)
England white-ball skipper Eoin Morgan is the next name out of the pool. There's a bit of a bidding war between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders but the latter snare him for Rs. 5.25 crores.

15:39 (IST)
The action begins quickly and the first player to come out of the bag is Chris Lynn. He goes to Mumbai Indians for his base price of Rs. 2 crore. That could be quite the steal for the defending champions.

Aaron Finch is ready for IPL 2020 as the newest RCB squad member.
Aaron Finch joins RCB at 4.4 Crores.

In 2014, KKR bought Pat Cummins for 1 crore INR.

Six years later, they put 15.5 crores for Cummins.

Sam Curran hasn’t done bad for himself either. He will play for CSK, after being sold for 5.5 Cr.

Pat Cummins - 15.5cr.
MS Dhoni - 15cr.

Chris Morris finds a home at the Chinnaswamy!
He will play for RCB, after being sold for 10Cr.

Conspiracy theory. IPL bought cummins for $2.1 million just to spite Starc for pulling out

beyond me why rcb did not continue with the cummins bid, also why on earth would you pay 10cr for morris. Another wooden spoon incoming for kaptaan.

Rcb table choked. Cummins could have lifted whole bowling unit.

Cheteshwar Pujara also goes unsold. Not a good day for India's Test specialists!

I'm disappointed about this. Pujara will never be a T20 heavyweight but his game has come on in the last few years and he can certainly do a better job than half of the Indian uncapped batsmen in the league. Unfortunately, the IPL sheeple are unwilling to give him a chance to prove himself.

Hanuman Vihari Unsold
Pujara Unsold
Yusuf Pathan Unsold
Grandhome Unsold
Binny Unsold

We all love ChePu but even Saurashtra don't pick him in t20s.

Alex Carey, base price of Rs 50 lakh, sold to Delhi Capitals for Rs 2.4 crore

Unadkat Sold to RR

2018 - 11.50cr (RR)

Nathan Coulter-Nile, base price of Rs 1 crore, sold to Mumbai Indians for Rs 8 crore

Think we overpaid a bit for NCN but not a bad 3rd seamer to have.

Nathan Coulter-Nile, base price of Rs 1 crore, sold to Mumbai Indians for Rs 8 crore

We Overpaid for him but we don't really need anything and backup to old Mali and recently injured Bumrah, boult was needed.

Cottrell
50 lac to 8.5 cr

Sheldon Cottrell, base price of Rs 50 lakh, sold to Kings XI Punjab for Rs 8.5 crore

Hope we will buy good mix of players in next year Mega auction

Maximum how many players can retain?

I hope they increase it, lets have atleast 5-6 retained and 3-4 rtm options, the current system punishes the teams that invest wisely, while giving multiple chances to stupidly managed ones.

I don't think rcb will worry too much about retention. They have one player worthy of retention rest are rubbish.

MI and Delhi will push for maximum retention. Rest will want total refresh.

Should have at least 9-10 player retention. Team identity and wise investments should be protected. Teams will bravely invest in youngsters if they are allowed to keep them.

I think KKR, sunrisers and royals will also want retentions.

Indian fast bowling depth isn't much considering the options picked

Cummins had a very brilliant odi series this Feb. 14 wickets in 4 odis

That is why he went for that much

Otherwise was not worth that much.

Correll is much more valuable in t20s.

Cummins is just good looking and will add to kkr brand value

Rahul Tripathi, base price of Rs 20 lakh, sold to Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs 60 lakh

Can someone tell me who bought Yashasvi Jaiswal? I'm excited about seeing this kid play! He's the next big thing of Indian cricket!
