The Newcastle United Thread

Looks like Ashley's not selling up.

To me it sounds like he never had any decent offers, but is now trying to make it sound like he wants to stay there and get on the right side of the fans?

Or he made no genuine attempt to sell - fat gitt messed up big time by doing what he did to KK and this is part of his plan to worm his way back in, and the sad thing is it is working

I wont ever forgive the Fatty BUT he can make things a little better if he invests money that he said he would (tho there is fat chance of that)

Charles N'Zogbia has confirmed he wants to play at a higher standard than Newcastle and is keen for a new challenge. He told L'Equipe: "After four years at Newcastle, I want to reach a higher level of ambition. I don't think that is possible here."

Not sure how true these comments are cos in the local paper he said he was happy to stay BUT . . . . .

this is Charlie after all, has been unsettled for a while now

Lot of talks about Shay Given leaving, maybe even as early as January

The thing is part of me kinda wants him to leave - I feel sorry for him, he has to put up with a whole load of ******** for a long time now and i think the ownership issue will finally ensure he leaves

Newcastle United striker Shola Ameobi called the police to report a burglary at his home before realising it was just very messy.

The 27-year-old thought thieves had broken in to his £500,000 house in the city's Jesmond district.

He phoned police and detailed several items that were missing. A police source told the Daily Mirror: "We were told thieves had taken a number of things, the most important one being the chequebook.

"Given what soccer stars earn, that was obviously a matter of great concern."

However, Ameobi subsequently admitted his mistake and found the 'stolen' items amid household clutter.

"We got a call back saying nothing was missing after all," said the source. "Perhaps he had had a party and the place just looked as if it had been burgled."

A police spokesman confirmed: "We received a report of a theft from a house in Jesmond but it appears to have been a genuine misunderstanding."

Ameobi, who has been a Newcastle player since 2000, has scored three goals in 14 Premier League games this season.

I know he doesn't seem quality now, but once your in the championship you guys will be very thankful to have him for that long.

Not really cos he cudnt even score in the Championship for Stoke so he will remain useless regardless of what division we are in

Don't say that now. In 2011 when your with Leeds I am sure he will be a hit.

Peter Lovenkrands has joined us on a week long trial

We lost out on his a few years ago to Rangers, was a cannt player then BUT not so sure he is good enough - also central midfield is where we should be targeting players

We take on Hukl tonight at SJP in the Cup replay - we are down the bare bones as usual so the team picks itself. Its so bad that Kinnear might just start with Xisco

This is how bad things are for us -

Blue is players who have yet to play at senior level
Red is players who are unavailable due to injuries/loans

Goalkeepers:
Given, Harper
Forster, Soderberg
Krul

Defenders:
Coloccini, Bassong, Edgar
Kadar, Lough
Beye, Cacapa, Jose Enrique, Taylor, Morris, Tozer

Midfielders:
Butt, Duff, Guthrie, N'Zogbia, Gutierrez
Donaldson, Doninger, Marwood, Godsmark
Barton, Geremi, Gonzalez

Strikers:
Owen, Xisco
LuaLua, Danquah, Ranger, Zamblera

Ameobi, Carroll, Martins, Smith, Viduka, Baheng

Also question marks of N'Zogbia, has a thigh strain BUT i think he is actually suffering from verbal diarrhea

Anyhow its a blessing in disguise - FA Cup definately a distraction we could do without

Didnt realise there were so many 3rd round games to be played.

I agree - FA Cup is an unwelcme distraction - although NOT anymore :)

Geordie whats up with your training (medical) staff? How come so many are injured? I heard Martins blasted them.

You guys seem to get more injuries then any other team every year. Surely its not luck anymore and management needs to look into this. One year, ok...but 2-3 years in a row? Something is wrong.

I think it was his agent that blasted them BUT whoever they are not wrong it seems

I have no idea why that's the case - it has happened under 3-4 managers yet the problem hasnt gone away.

Souness was convinced it was the training pitches we use so they got replaced BUT injuries still persist

Fat Sam thought it was due to the training methods BUT injuries still persisted

We are cursed, that is the only explanation - we have a Billionaire 'British' owner yet have been outspent by the likes of Stoke - if thats not cursed i dont know what is.

As for the football - its a bloody joke.

This is the worst period since i have been a supporter, we may well have been cr@p under Freddy Shepherd and the various managers BUT there was always hope things would improve BUT now there is none whatsoever - we have a **** of an owner who does not give a **** and our supporters are too loyal for their own good . . . . . . .

part of me wants us to get relegated (will be great knowing the fat **** loses a lot of money) and hopefully get a new owner and start over again

Its a right joke at the moment - Joe Kinnear say's one thing one day then contradicts himself the following - an absolute shambles.

The owner is a tw@t and the manager is his talking lapdog, only a matter of time before he gets sick of it and leaves.

They are a bunch of amatuers - coming out with all this rubbish.

BUT dont fear we have signed Gazza's 7 year old nephew after he scored 22 goals in a 30 minute match :27: :27: :27:

N'Zogbia refusing to play

from SkySports.com

Charles N'Zogbia has stated that he will never play for Newcastle again while Joe Kinnear is in charge.

The Frenchman, who has been harbouring for a move away from St James' Park for some time, believes the Magpies boss has disrespected him in recent weeks and feels he no longer enjoys a working relationship with the experienced coach.

N'Zogbia is believed to have attracted interest from Ligue 1 giants Lyon during the January transfer window, while the player himself has made no secret of his affinity towards Arsenal and Aston Villa.

He may now be granted his wish as his latest outburst has made it virtually impossible for him to have any future on Tyneside.

"First of all I wish to apologise to the fans for wanting to leave the club," he said in a statement.

"However, having been insulted by Joe Kinnear, I will never play for him again while he remains Newcastle manager.

"The club are aware that there are offers on the table for me and they should accept one of them."

Nice one Charlie - thats just what we need right now you ****in ********

Charlie Insomnia - that would be my stage name if I ever did a dodgy film or two...

and Given hands in a transfer request.

I hope Newcastle have XI players for this weekends match?

Toon Complete Nolan Signing

from nufc.co.uk
NEWCASTLE United have completed the signing of Bolton Wanderers midfielder Kevin Nolan for a fee of £4m.

The 26-year-old penned a four-and-a-half year deal at St.James' Park on Friday morning and will wear the No.4 shirt for the Magpies.

A delighted Nolan told nufcTV: "It's all happened so quickly but it was an opportunity which was impossible to turn down.

"I can't wait to play in front of these fans every week and I'm really looking forward to the next four-and-a-half years."

Normally i wudnt be happy about this BUT this isnt a normal situation. The guy is a trier and will no doubt out in 100% which is exactly what we need right now - BUT i bet he gets injured after a couple of games knowing our luck

We should have . . . . just about.

Given should be allowed to leave BUT only on our terms - we should not accept anything less than £10 Million. Not sure why Given left it this late to put in a transfew request

I know Kevin's brother and have played football against him. He's not as good as Kevin but a nice guy nonetheless.

I think Nolan will be a good signing.

Doesnt matter - aslong as he can run (or even walk fast) we will take him.

Beggars cant be choosers

Newcaslte should consider getting Shearer out of retirement. He can't do any worse than their current bill of strikers?

You won't hear me say this often about players leaving footie clubs but I'm extremely sad to see Given go. However he's more than given his all over ten years and I wish him all the best and hoope he gets some silverware.

My final thought:

In the words of my housemate : 'You're (Newcastle) screwed"

Im gutted Given has left BUT also im happy he is out of this mess - he deserves better, much better

It tells you a lot about our management that Given of all people wanted to leave - the guy has stuck with us for 12 years, plenty of cr@p players BUT he has been loyal

I wish him well and hopefully he will return to newcastle one day in some capacity - Given is a Geordie :)

When someone like Given goes - under the circumstances that he has - it says a lot for the way the club is run

I would go for Joe Hart - he wont hang around as the No.2

Joe Kinnear is set to undergo heart bypass surgey - which may out him out for the rest of the season (

So we might be looking for a new manager (on a temporary basis)

Calderwood rumoured to be the leading candidate to take over until the end of the season. Considering that Bryan Robson is the other rumour, you should be very happy indeed if Colin is given the chance! He's a decent enough manager in his defence and would probably do an okay job in the short-term. He was very unlucky towards the end here, nothing seemed to fall for him even though we were playing some very nice football. He's a top bloke so I'd love to see him get the job and do well in it.

Lets hope you are right - well i remember the PM you sent me about Kinnear and you was saying how cr@p he was, well you was spot on

Whilst obviously i dont wish him ill health BUT part of me is kinda glad we dont have to out up with him during this crucial period.

Im happy with Calderwood and Hughton to take charge

I cant believe Bryan Robson was even rumoured to be taking over at one stage.

Top captain in hhis time - but has zero charisma, zero 'get up & go' - I would rate him as the most boring charchter in world football - ever!

Dont people remeber his press conferences at Boro or the Baggies?

I think this is the last we'll hear of Kinnear btw.

I can BUT that just goes to show how terrible the ownership/management is

The best we could get last time round was Joe Kinnear. nobody else wanted the job . . . . heck even El Tel turned the job down

Bryan Robson would be a terrible appointment tho and fortunately it just seems to be a rumour

Hughton/Calderwood is the best for now - hopefully we can survive and then we can move from there

It certainly looks like him - reminds me of the images of Guti that were released a few years ago

Nee wonder the guy has struggled to get in the side - fruitcake

Wow, I don't know whether I needed to see that!

GA, what's this about Guti? Wait, maybe I need not know.

Well similar pictures to Xisco was revealed in a paper a few years ago BUT he denied it by saying it was actually his sister that he was seen with and not a guy

Whilst our First team is cr@p our Reserve and Youth team are not doing too badly - we are 2nd in the reserves and the U18 table

We have some promising youngsters in the set up who have a strong chance of making a breakthrough soon (moreso if we are in the Championship)

Brad Inman - 17 year old Australian Central Midfielder, the coaches reckon he can make it and people who watch the reserves say he is one to watch out for.

Haris Vuckic - 16 year old Slovenian. An attacking midfielder who is highly rated, was linked with Milan before joining us and also has recently been lined with Real Madrid. Probably the best youngster we have, some reckon we will see him in the first team at some point next season (regardless of what division we are in)

Nile Ranger - Soon to 18 year old Striker who was previously with Southampton. Has got himself 21 goals this season for reserves and youth level, been scoring for fun. Has been on the bench BUT hasnt had a game yet - tho if he keeps scoring im sure it wont be far away.

Tamas Kadar - 19 year old Hungarian Centre Back who can also play at Left Back. Made his debut for his previous side at only 16 which was a record. Got a lot of rave reviews for his performances in the reserves, wasnt too far away from a first team game BUT unfortunately he got a nasty knee injury - this will put him out for a while and who knows how it will affect him. Hopefully he can come back from it cos he is talented

Kazenga Lua Lua - 18 year old attacking midfielder (quite versatile, more of a left winger). He is the younger brother of former newcastle player, Lomana. This lad has pace, good skill and an excellent shot on him. He has had some brief sub appearances for the first team. He has been brilliant in the reserves and youth level - one of our better youngsters who has an excellent chance of making it

Samuel Adjei - a 17 year old swedish midfielder we have recently bought. Has featured briefly for the reserves/youth BUT hasnt done anything of not - he is highly rated tho. Possibly one to watch out for

Samuel Ameobi - 16 year old younger brother for Shola. He is a striker and is very similar to his brother in playing style. Hopefully he does justice to his talent - has only played briefly for the reserves/youth team BUT has done well. Still a long way to go for him

Aaron Spear - 15 year old Striker we signed from Plymouth last summer, was also chased by Arsenal. Has been termed as the next 'Wayne Rooney' - has only played once for the youth team so not sure whether he has done well BUT he is highly rated.

Great to have so many kids, but rushing them into the first team could hurt their development.

True - i wudnt want us to give these kids a chance until they are ready.

The 3 that i think are ready for a chance are Kadar, Lua Lua and Ranger

Also this is the one thing the Ashley regime has got spot on - the investment they have made into the youth side has to be commended (of the 8 listed, 5 of them were signings made under the current regime)

Its just a shame they neglected the first team - what good is having talented youngsters if you are in the Championships - the big teams will just take them off us

The first team has talent, but injuries hurt you. Which leads me to a point I been harping you on for a year....who is your training stuff and what do they do?

It CANNOT be a coincidence that year after year....you have 10 people injured at once during peak injury season. Either the facilties are not good, or the staff sucks. I was reading an account of Man Utd fans when they went to SJP and they said the pitch looked bad. And not because it was wet and snowy...but they said on prev occasions too.

So makes me wonder, does your pitch have somethign to do with it? It can, OT pitch is terrible and I known our players (Evans) to ruin their ankle on it.

The injury issue is one that has been going on for some time, Souness thought he knew the answer (he didnt), Roeder thought he had the answer (he didnt), Fat Sam thought he had the answer (he didnt), we didnt do too badly under Keegan tho he was only here for a short time, Kinnear is a waste of space

Its hard to say what it is - more qualified people have failed to come up with the answer (training methods?? training pitch??? bad luck????)

One thing is for certain its not the pitch, we have an excellent pitch now - in fact our pitch has been voted 2nd best in the Premiershipf for the past 2 seasons (Arsenal getting 1st) - the pitch about 3-4 years ago was poor BUT we invested heavily in it and its in a good state. Also its not like our injuries take place on the pitch, a lot of it is during training or as a result of TOUGH tackles

GA, I really do think that Newcastle are struggling in the middle of the park. There seems to be a lack of energy and "legs" in the centre midfield positions, especially Nicky Butt who is showing his age I feel.

The North East teams having a nightmare with the possibility of all 3 in the premiership getting relegated.

i hope newcastle survive.. st james is one of my favourite aways and i have enjoyed great nights out at the quayside.. They are certainly better the rubbish away support southern softies bar arsenal bring to anfield

Its a joke - although its a mess all over the park really.

Butt is way way past it, Nolan is cr@p, Ryan Taylor is rubbish (constantly gives the ball away and concedes silly fouls) - I cant wait till Guthrie and Barton are back

Our management from top to bottom is a bloody joke - total mismanagement. We have interim to the interim manages in place, not just one BUT 2 of them. Its like bloody having dumb and dumber on the sidelines, they are clueless

We are going down, i have accepted it now - we have won 6 games in 30 matches and now we are expecting to win 4 from 8, nee bloody chance.

I am fuming because things could have been so much different if Keegan was still here :po: :po: :po:

Certainly are struggling BUT all 3 wont go down - Sunderland will be okay.

Us and Boro are most likely going down

Also what is annoying is that we played well against Man-U BUT we got nothing for it

We then were average against Hull and managed to get a point (despite a win being needed)

We then play well against Arsenal BUT have nothing to show for it

Why the eff are we raising our game against the ManU, Arsenal's when it is the Hulls that we need to beat

We have Chelsea next then Stoke - i expect us to lose 'bravely' to Chelsea BUT then playing badly against Stoke and get nowt

I would much rather our players dont bother against the big teams BUT we have to give it 100% against the teams around us if we want to survive

it all boils down to one thing and that is management.. since Robson was forced out(a pathetic decision in itself) the club has been run worse than a chippie on a saturday night.. Newcastle should have ensured that they signed a good young upcoming manager than muppets like Souness and Allardyce.. I think getting keegan back was a good short term move but it was short term.. Now we have a rudderless team.. Although looking at the only positive if there could be one of going down would be that getting rid of the leper ashley would be easier.. I just dont think 50k fans treated like consumers should be on in modern football.. i was talking to a mate a while back about the situation a lot of big clubs like liverpool, man united and newcastle find ourself in where we have been victims of our own success due to us having huge fanbases.. if the FA seriously applied fit and proper testing rule most of the owners would not even get a sniff..

Me and my mates have debated this to death this past weekend - mixed thoughts about it.

If we go down then our value will obviously drop aswell BUT im not convinced that Ashley is prepared to make such a significant loss on the club. He has paid about £240 Million and i would be shocked if a bid of more than £100 Million is made

At first i wasnt too woriied about relegation (and was begrudgingly accepting it) BUT the more i think about it the more im worried - i dont think we will come back (well not in the near future) - we will fall and fall hard. Everything about our club is Premiership (Stadium, infrastructure, players wages, Sponsorship, TV Money etc) and we are not even in the slightest bit prepared for The Championship. Maybe if Fat Ashley starts to make preparation now then maybe we can cope BUT the idiot is deluded and wont do anything like that (the fact that Kinnears 2 year contract offer is still on the table says it all really)

We have a British guy with a fortune estimated at just under £2 Billion yet we have managed to make a profit in the last 2 transfer windows

I think Keegan was a mistake. It was an emotional decision, made moreso by a fan of club rather than the owner of a club. Ashley shouldnt have went on emotion and like you said, get in a young manager.

Appointing Keegan wasnt the problem - undermining him was

The problem lies with Ashley, its irrelevant who we appointed as a manager then - any decent manager would have upped and left if they were undermined by Dennis Wise of all people

Brazilian Dionatan Nascimento having trial at United

from icnewcastle.co.uk

BRAZILIAN starlet Dionatan Nascimento has arrived on Tyneside to try to seal a dream move to Newcastle.

The 16-year-old defender is training with the Magpies all week after they stole a march on a string of other major European clubs on his trail.

Roma and Atletico Madrid were said to be keen on Nascimento, but Newcastle jumped the queue by offering a trial to him and Slovakian centre-back Lubomir Korijkov.

Like Korijkov, Nascimento is part of the youth system at Slovakian side MFK Kosice.

Nascimento – full name, Dionatana do Nascimenta Teixeiru – arrived in Eastern Europe last summer from Brazilian club Londrina.

He is not the first Samba starlet to be seen at United’s training ground this season, with Caio Ferreira seemingly all set to complete a move to Newcastle a few months ago.

But the 18-year-old striker incurred problems acquiring an EU passport and now looks set to join a club in Greece.

United do not anticipate similar problems with Nascimento, and will make a decision over the weekend on whether he is worth a long-term gamble.

Korijkov also arrived on Sunday highly recommended, having impressed Newcastle contacts at a recent junior tournament in Croatia.

Allen Bula, head of football development at MFK Kosice, said: “Korijkov is an outstanding central defender, especially for his age.

“He has clearly made his mark at international level, where lately MFK Kosice has been approached by top European clubs enquiring about him.”

Thats just what we need, more kids at the club. If they are any good they will jump ship cos Championship football is not what they want

Sunday Express BUT even if it was the Sun/Mail i would be concerned

In previous years i would dismiss it as tabloid trash BUT with this current regime anything is possible - supposedly Ashley is finally going to speak to the fans soon, he is only 7 months late

Although regards to administration - im not clued up on business so not sure why/how Ashley would benefit if he put us into administration, surely thats just him writing off his entire investment? He would be better off selling us on the cheap, atleast that way the loss aint as bad??????????

The reserves are playing tonight at SJP against Man-Utd @ 7pm

Need to start attending reserve/youth games BUT since the match is on MUTV i shall watch this in the comfort of my home

Looking forward to seeing Nile Ranger playing

What happened to that young lad, David Edgar? Is he busy tearing up the Reserves or killing the academy?

On the special one tV, they were talking about recession in football. So Rooney's character goes "we plan to take all the bad players and put them in a new bad club." (Parody of Geithner's toxic assets into a new bank plan). So Jose goes "So another Newcastle?" and Wayne goes "No, not as bad."

Ok enough jokes for now :P Lets hope Geordies can turn it around, would hate to see them get relegated. If only they beat Stoke!

Actually he started yesterday (played the full 90 mins) and was superb - he coped with Rory Delaps missiles very very well. I feel sorry for Edgar cos he deserves to have been given more chances BUT for various reasons it hasnt happened

Tho with Shearer dropping Colo (rightly so) and Taylor still not fit Edgar should get a few games
