The NFL Thread

Pro Bowl fullback Vonta Leach has signed with the RAVENS!!!!!!!

Yes, finally something from the ravens.

Tod Heap has signed with Cardinals..thank god he didnt go to the Jets..

Loving the moves so far. I'd rather have a stud LB than a pro-bowler at the nicker cb position.

Watkins needs to get into camp and RT is a question mark once again. Not worried about DeSean. Reports are that he'll report in 2 days.

VY needs to chill with all this "dream team" crap. Eagles seem to perform best when they're under the spotlight and people aren't thinking of them.

Miami Heat expectations for this team.

Not really. Those always go to the Jets..and they always fail.

People are still not really talking about the Eagles. Nnamdi? Yes...but not much talk about their other signings.

The Eagles are now interested in RANDY MOSS! :)))

Vick must be so happy right now.

? Everybody's been calling the Eagles the dream team and that they're going "all in" every since VY coined that term a few days back. All over NFL Network and ESPN.

Any word on Tulloch to the Birds ?

I am not worried about Desean either but I am very worried about Maclin and our thin WR resources without him..

Philly is a blue collar place, we dont like no cinderallas or fairy tales, this is all about in your face football & none of the dream team BS. VY needs to be coached on how to speak when he is in Philly..

Miami Heat expectations for this team.

bold..

QB, Just watched ESPN First Take, and Skip Bayless and others absolutely ripped into Eagles and VY for calling Eagles 'The Dream Team' :))

Will try to find a YT video of it. RR will not like it :))

Randy Mosssss officially retired today..

LMFAO at all the teams calling us HYPED, Eagles have never said anything in regards to the players they have signed such as; we are now unbeatable or that we are the team to beat etc UNLIKE what a certain Justin Tuck did a few years ago when the Giants signed Canty & Rocky Bernard lol.. Barring the VY comment Eagles havent said anything, its been all the sports journalists doing the hype talk. ROB RYAN AKA DALLAS COACH: Loved his father Buddy Ryan with a passion and he would be shaking his head in shame now that Rob RYan is a COWGIRL coach, 2nd of ALL HE NEEDS TO SHUT HIS MOUTH when talking bout the BIRDS and GET THE FACTS STRAIGHT!!!!!!!

LOL Vince Young just cant seem to shut his pie hole... ;-)

I respect the Eagles more than the Jets though. Apart from VY, they do not crown themselves the champs and go about their business quietly. Media likes to play it up for simple TRP stuff...

Eagles are now relatively set at backup RB and a new Right Tackle. Now just need an experienced LB and get long-term contracts for Desean and Vick, we are then very much set. This is so much fun.

Philadelphia is where LB's go to die.

If Eagles get Patrick Willis for Asante then we ARE SET!!!!!!!!! However that is just my pipe dream lol...... I must say I am awfully concerned about the WR corp, peanut could get injured at any time and Maclin losing 15 pounds due to illness OH YEAH I am worried all right...

That is really something for the training staff to keep their eye on.
Patterson was taken to the hospital after seizures during today's practice... Too many injuries already for the Eagles...

Alright..we got Zach Miller...finally our offense now starting to make sense...Rice and Mike Williams wideout...Miller at TE and lynch or Forsett at the back...the Seahawks are gonna make themselves heard this year

I like the game, but just cant seem to connect with a team. I wonder how people who came to US in their late teens or later(like me) able to develop as a fan of a particular team. I cant seem to do that...from last four years...pizza...chicken wings...Super bowl..support the underdog who ever it is

lol..I know how you feel.. I know a few of my Pak friends who came to USA in their late teens and they also do not seem to like NFL..even though its the most fun sport America has to offer.

Anyway, what state do you live in? Does it have a team?

I've lived in the US since I was 1 year old but didn't start following the NFL until I turned 15.

PAtterson was just dehydrated apparently and he is ok now...

Just bumped into this video, I cant believe how similar Vick looks to Randall:

AdamSchefter SalPal reports Mike Patterson has brain AVM (arteriovenous malformation), a tangle of blood vessels in skull; requires surgery or radiation

SHI* & we just traded Bunkley, Hope Mike gets better.. Crazy rumours circulating that Maclin has Lymphoma a type of cancer, I truly hope this is not true.. Some pretty sad news going around, wish I didnt log onto Eagles messageboard today, damn it, its probably wrecked rest of my week....

This info was posted on WheresWeems (a philly sports blog) earlier today. They've since taken it down on request from their source.

"This morning we received some worrisome inside information regarding the Eagles WR, Jeremy Maclin. Reports this offseason had Maclin suffering from “mono-like symptoms” and claimed that he’d lost a significant amount of weight. Those reports were troubling, but not nearly as troubling as what we are hearing today:

A good source inside the Eagles has informed us that Maclin may have lymphoma and may be done — and if true, possibly for good.

An illness like lymphoma could seriously effect his life outside of football.

Contrary to what we are hearing is the fact that Maclin returned to camp yesterday. Unfortunately, the Eagles are being mum on the subject.

A week ago, Andy Reid said, “I just want what’s best for him — that’s all I care about right now. This is a personal thing and I can’t go any further than that… I’ve had a chance to talk to him every day and we all love the kid.”

Today, Reid added, “Doctors are upbeat on Jeremy Maclin, but all tests aren’t in.” Somethings up… Eagles beat writer, Jeff McLane, is saying that “Jeremy Maclin won’t talk with the media until he practices.” So, we may have to wait a while for clarity on the situation.

Adding fuel to the fire are the reports that the Eagles have made a post-retirement offer to WR Randy Moss."

I came here when I was 18... been watching super bowl only all these years. Its been 4 years. Have to get connected to a team to get motivation to follow it..

I like nfl..the game is exciting. Watch them whenever I can..but just that I could not get connected to a team. I live in NY....so Ny giants I guess

crap. Now I guess we will go back to Mason. (hopefully he doesnt go to the Jets)

Good or bad timing?! ;-)

And yea. Pollard and Suggs in the same team. Brady better be worried.

Tbh, Im glad we arent facing the Ravens this year. Maybe some other team will take them out before the play-offs.

JETS have signed Derrik Mason. Its official

Jets fans are so happy with this signing and under playing Ocho (younger and better). If Sanchez goes down, they will have 41 year old Brunell throwing to 38 year old Mason aka National Pensioners League :)))

Mason at this age is still pretty good. But why would anyone wnna play with Sanchez. The dude is horrible.

Plus, the fans dont have to worry about Ocho. They got REEVISS!

Ravens vs Pats in AFC game. I can already feel it.

He is still their quarterback. Not horrible, but average or there abouts. Mason is ok, comes up with the situational plays but at his age, if they get 700 yards out of him that is a bonus!

Ah yes Revis, I kinda do hope Revis is completely on Ocho, frees up a combination of Welker/Branch/Hernandez/Gronk(beast). Considering Jets' depth (or the lack thereof) at LB and safety positions, that is a matchup that Brady will absolutely LOVE!!! :D

Shawn Ellis to Pats..Rex Ryan is not a happy man. :))
Jets lose Edwards, Cotchery and Ellis. lol

Ricky Williams to Ravens :D Solid move by Bmore. Decent back up as well.

I like the Ellis pick-up, but dislike the price. $4 + $1 sounds too much for a 34 year old!

Wow....Steve Smith to the Eagles...if this doesn't win Reid a Superbowl then nothing will

Hey guyz is it just me or has the free agent signing been much better then the draft of 2011

I am starting to think Eagles will be a fluke just like the Heat. Star power wont win you a championship. Its all about chemistry.

We saw that with the Heat in NBA, and Jets and Cowboys last year

Well let's analyze their moves.

They signed Nnamdi and traded for DRC. Yeah, they could have chemistry issues but they can't be worse than the Eagles secondary last year.

Babin has already been on the Eagles just 2 seasons ago so he should be fine.

Jenkins replaces Bunk who was a bust so it's not like he can be worse.

Harris has supposedly been performing great in TC and is the starter at RT for the time being at least while Justice heals. Again, anybody who follows the Eagles will know that the o-line broke down at the end of last year so it's not like it can get worse.

These other players like VY, Ronnie Brown, Smith are all role players/backups so chemistry with them is not that big of a issue.

Calling Bunk a bust is not right, he was an absolute monster against the run, one of the reasons why we finally started shutting down big backs like Jacobs was cause of Bunk.. Sure Bunk never had the sacks but he used to be a brick against the run..

I have heard mixed news of Harris, we wont know till the season kicks off but if he is healthy he could pan out. We were close to getting Doug Free wish we got him...

I am quite preplexed about the Smith signing, he wont be playing till late season. Ok provided he could hand us the Gint's playbook which I dont see as much of an advantage since we can beat the Gints with our eyes closed...

Bold....

Man NE was sharp! Taylor Price was awesome, 3rd pick pick Ridley was terrrrrrriffic!!! Go Pats!

C'mon. A 14th overall selection that was losing snaps after 5 seasons in the league? The Run D improved become of Dixon.

Actually forgot about Dixon, but you have to give it to BUNK he is stout against the run no 2 ways about it. He doesnt get noticed because he never gets any sacks however for a 14th overall pick he has been a disappointment.

Come on, it wasn't so horrible! Its ok, Skins play their first preseason game against Pittsburgh tonight

Talk going on that Steve Smith wants to have jersey No.12, No Eagle player should wear No.12 let alone an EX GIANT...... I hope Steve will come to his senses and not **** a lot of true Bird fans off by paying Randall and wearing the No.12...........

I am ready for some fooootballl

WHAT time is it?
GAME TIME!!!
Any dogs in da house?
Hoo hoo hoo!

And wth is up with the "Dream Team"?! Last night was their nightmare! :))

I didn't get excited after their win last week and I'm not going to get worried after this loss.

To show the importance of pre-season, the Lions went 4-0 in the preseason before going on to finish 0-16 in the regular season.

Fair enough. Remember however that the Lions record was an abberation, not the norm.

Oh come on! That was funny. "Dream" team and "nightmare", see that?!

PS: Yes it was the pre season

One thing that game did expose; Eagles are weak as hell against the screen due to our LBs being below avg....... I am actually quite worried about backs like Felix Jones..

Guys, watch this. Vonta Leach's crazy pancake hit. Ouch!...and then his block the very next play, which leads to a TD run by Ray Rice :D

Haynesworth spotted at practice today with Big Vince...The earthquake was no coincidence. #patriots

;-)

The 'experts' on NFL network really **** me off. I am sick and tired of the "Ravens have not improved or they are too old etc etc"

Lee Evans--improvement over Mason. Faster and a deep threat
Vonta Leach-Improvment over Leron Maclain. He was one the main reasons why Arian Foster had such amazing seasons recently.
Bryant Mckinnie--proven veteren. Also allows Michael Oher to shift back to RT--where he had his best season yet in 09
Jimmy Smith-big time improvent over Foxworth. He is tall and fast, definitily a future probowler
Torrey Smith-one of the fastest recievers in the NFl. Another deep threat for Joe flacco
Bernard Pollard-another proven veteran and hard hitting player. Better than the other 2 safties ravens have.
Rickey Williams-Proven Vetern and an improvement over Willis Magahee. Him and Ray Rice together can be a dangerous combo.
Ed Dickson and Dannis Pitta-Fast and Young TEs and an obviuos improvement over Todd Heap.
Andre Gurode-Probowl center, great backup for Matt birk (injury prone)
They also resigned Marshall Yanda, another pro-bowl caliber player.

Ozzie Newsome has filled almost every single hole from last year, and replaced Heap, Maclain, Mason, Gregg and Magahee with much faster/better/younger players..

Also, I forgot to mention the depth we have at CB (Chris Carr, Ladurious Webb, Dominque Foxworth, Jimmy Smith and Carry Williams)...and yet I keep hearing how bad the Ravens and Flacco will be this year.

Cant wait for the news Ravens to put on that black and purple tomorrow.
