The NFL Thread

IMHO the Giants are the best all-aroiund team left in the hunt. Pats are great offensively. Niners and Ravens are great defensively. But the Giants can put points on the board in shootouts and also have the defense to make big plays.

That is hard to disagree with. Giants look very good, no doubt. But, they are the Giants. No other team can play Jekkyl and Hyde better than them, something that can bring them down in addition to the other three teams.

I think the best all round D has to be the 49ers. Their corners have looked simply amazing so far! If they can stymie the Saints O, they can def keep the Giants under 20.

Pats Ravens matchup is a classic tussle. If the Pats O line play as well as they did vs the Broncos, the Ravens will find the going very very tough. But the Ravens front 7 are a fearful bunch! How Flacco plays against an improved Patriots D will be the key imo. Hope Bill dials up a special game plan!

The Giants put up a good fight against every good team except the Saints. They are only bad when play bad teams.

Swept the Cowboys
Lost to GB by 3
Lost to SF on a last second play
Beat Pats in Foxboro
Beat Falcons
Beat Jets
Beat Packers

Jekkyl and Hyde crap is overblown by the media. They play well against good teams.

Pats will be tested for the first time this whole season..finally! But if Ravens run the ball, we'll be fine.

and I dont think Eli can repeat last nights performance next week against the best D in the nfl imo..

49ers and Ravens..im calling it now.

Keep doubting Eli. Pats will be tested for the first time? Giants beat them in their home!

The lack of respect for the Giants is really something.

And hence the inconsistency label and hence the Jekkyl and Hyde remarks!

Beat Pats in NE - Dr.Jekkyl
Got swept by the Redskins - Hideous Hyde!

Ergo!

You also called for a Broncos win over the Pats last week! :)

Ravens are def the best AFC team we have faced this year. Doesn mean anything towards the result though! Ravens are 4-4 on the road this year, home teams are 7-1 in the playoffs this year and NE is one of the toughest places to come in and beat the Pats.

Giants play to the level of the opposition. Only the top teams are left now so we should not be seeing Hideous Hyde.

Dont take me wrong, I think that the Giants are an absolutely tough team to beat this time of the year, but they do the best J&H impression. You can deny that Inswinger.

A lot of it has to do with the opposition. This is the playoffs with the top teams playing. Don't see how it applies here.

Something to remember: Ravens have beaten the Pats in NE during the playoffs before so confidence isnt the issue.

The pressure is all on the ravens..last opportunity for Ray Lewis and Reed to win a ring.

They just need Flacco to stay out of the way. 6 TDs and 7 INTs in his postseason career. They should just run the ball at the Pats.

exactly. But most of them came against Steelers D. Pats D is a joke.

Ray Lewis has a ring.

I don't think anyone disputes the danger of the Giants. I certainley respect them. They did a fantastic job on Rogers and they have picked up on defense. I have doubts about their run game, and if the niners can get to Eli then the chances of interceptions increases.

Too close to call, My head and heart say 49ers over Pats in the Superbowl.

Before yall pick the Pats over Ravens, let me remind you that Pats HAVE NOT beaten a team over .500 this season while the ravens are 7-0 against teams over .500!!!!!!

and oh yea..Defense wins championship :)

That is such a bland argument SAF. Last year, the Patriots went 7-1 against teams with winning record! Yeah, 7 wins! What it lead to? Squat!

The Pats played 7 teams this year, 8 games against teams that are exactly .500 and they were .500 for the reason that we beat them! Quite simple, really! :)

Yes, the Ravens are our toughest match up of the year yet. But the same can be said for Fu Manchu's bunch! You have played 1 "good" offensive team (and 0 great offenses) this year and went 0-1. In fact, you got smoked 34-14 and the game was over 3 mins into the 3rd! Im sure you dont need to be told how effective/explosive the Pats O is with Brady leading the charge.

lol at ''offensive team'' :))

bottom line, we were in the toughest division in the nfl and still swept the division. And in the Chargers game, Jimmy Smith was targeted all night..had Webb played, it could have been a different story.

Lets see how Brady does against a team over .500 and against a team that will actually play good defense :)

Yeah, you are right! We only had the 3rd most PPG in the NFL. And we just have Brady leading us as opposed to the offensive juggernaut spear headed by Fu Manchu himself! :danish

Yeah who knows, the game might have even been competitive going into the 4th! Wow!

Like I said, Ravens are the toughest test for the Pats yet. Should make for a classic game. Given the 4-4 Ravens road record and 8-1 Pats home record, Im confident in their chances. Thats all. :)

My god, if the Giants win the superbow again, I dont think I would have the strength to handle it...

Ravens always play well as the underdogs. Alot on the line, last chance for Lewis and Reed to get a ring and Flacco knows that. He will prolly be more motivated now after Reed's comments. Gonna be fun.

24-17 Ravens

harbowl 2.

Ravens choked at the crucial times! A big drop and a missed 32 yd FG!
Wow. Gotta feel for Joe here.

A freebie for the Patriots there. Terrible stuff, not a hard cricket. InshAllah underdogs 49ers win.

Ravens really choked at the end, I was biting my nails, Patriots should send that kicker a flower basket or something :)))

A dropped TD and a missed chipshot FG!!!

Joe should have run for the 1st instead of just throwing it on 3rd down. Bad job by the Ravens. Evans and Cundiff should be walking home alone!!

Superbowl Baby!

What a game! Who knew Sterling Moore, released from the Raiders' Practice Squad at the start of the season would be the one with the defining play of the AFC Championship game!

Good game by the Ravens (save for the last 2 mins). Lived up to the billing of the #1 Defense!

Agree with that, but I guess he never even thought that Cundiff would miss

'm living in Boston right now and lets just say the atmosphere is gonna be amazing tonight! Baffled as to why they didn't go for the run on 3 and 1

LOL talk about an epic

choke.jpg

Cundiff couldn't hit the side of a barn if he was standing next to it and as for Evans he shouldn't walk the streets of Boston after dark if he gets pickpocketed that easily. Go the PATSSSSSSSSSSSS we're in the Super Bowl!!!

Ravens were running the ball soo well all game long, looking back that decision for not going for 1st down was bad.

I'm guessing the Pat fans are now rooting for the 9ers, eh? :))

Why? The Giants have a better front 4, but worse corners than the Ravens! A two week lay-off is just what we need. (Apart from the obvious better game from the O).

But 9ers or Giants, it will be a tough fight!

And this is why kickers like Vinitieri will be legends and the Vanderjagts will stray into oblivion. Crunch time is when it all matters man.

Giants have the better QB....

Whoever wins this second game will have my support in the Super Bowl.

Although, I am hoping for a 49ers win. :D

I was talking about Smith v ELi.......Who would you rather face? The guy who has outplayed Brady in the last 2 matchups?

Oh i know. I was just mentioning that no matter who wins the NFC championship game, Pats will have a better QB.

But seriously, neither 9ners nor the Giants will be pushovers. I am looking forward to a good game now, doesnt matter who wins.

Brady and O will have to get better than today and Dfense has to repeat its performance!

Myra Hiatt Kraft pulled the ball to the left on that missed fg!!!

Gotta go, bye guys. Hoping for a great NFC title game (on DVR)

Good game from the ravens except for the choke at the end. Looking like Pats are gonna win it all :108:

Tough loss. Flacco played great, even better than brady. Billy choked, and Evans dropped a game winner. Atleat Ray Lewis isnt retiring! Oh well life goes on, it was just a game.

Giants kicker Tynes wins it for his team, while Ravens kicker Cundiff loses in a similar situation.
