Lol Doesnt Donald T have more pressing issues to discuss that talk about Sheuduer..

Ahhh love DT, man is one of a kind 😁...

Reason why no one has drafted Sheuduer Sanders is because of his show boat father Deion. Teams are afraid whether this kid can function on with any other coaching structure other than his dad....

Wonder if he will go undated.

Hurts among Eagles players to skip White House visit

Jalen Hurts and several Philadelphia Eagles team-mates players skipped a reception with US President Donald Trump at the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl victory.

Star quarterback Hurts, 26, and other players had "scheduling conflicts", a White House official said.

The invitation was optional for players to attend, and less than half the team showed up on Monday.

Philadelphia beat the the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in New Orleans in February.

Despite Hurts' absence, Trump praised the Super Bowl's Most Valuable Player as a "terrific guy and terrific player".

"[The] Eagles have turned out to be an incredible team, an incredible group," he added.

American broadcaster NBC reported other players who did not attend included AJ Brown, DeVonta Smith, Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis and Brandon Graham.

In 2018, following their first Super Bowl victory, Philadelphia's White House visit was cancelled after most players decided to stay away.

A the time, there was still ongoing debate surrounding the kneeling protests which began in 2016, although the team never confirmed this was the reason for their absence.

Trump, serving his first term as president at the time. was highly critical, external of players who took the knee during the national anthem, so he instead invited a group of Eagles fans to attend.

Sports teams visiting the White House after winning a championship is a tradition that dates back to the 19th Century, but in the past decades some have used it to make a statement.

Golden State Warriors were disinvited by Trump following their NBA championship triumph in 2017, after two-time MVP Stephen Curry said he did not want to go.

The Warriors were not invited when they won their third title in four seasons a year later.

Pittsburgh Steelers release Ryan Watts after he suffered life-threatening injury
The Pittsburgh Steelers have released second-year cornerback Ryan Watts due to ongoing health concerns, the team announced on Monday.

Watts, 23, will be medically retired after suffering a neck injury during the 2024 NFL preseason.

In a statement, Steelers general manager Omar Khan confirmed the decision was made in consultation with medical professionals and Watts' representatives.

"Unfortunately, today we are releasing Ryan Watts from our roster," Khan said. "After consulting with our medical team, medical experts, and Ryan's representatives, we all agree that it is in Ryan's best interest to discontinue playing football at this time. We will continue to assist and support Ryan as he transitions to the next phase of his life."

Watts sustained his injury during Pittsburgh's final preseason game against the Detroit Lions, ending his rookie campaign before it began.

In January, Watts shared a social media update on his recovery, posting a photo from his hospital bed wearing a neck brace and vowing to "remain optimistic."

Before entering the NFL, Watts played two seasons at Ohio State before transferring to the University of Texas, where he recorded 89 total tackles, including 63 solo stops, across 24 games.

The Steelers selected Watts in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. His early retirement marks a difficult conclusion to a promising career that had only just begun.

NFL fine Falcons and coach £262,000 for prank call

The Atlanta Falcons have been fined $250,000 (£187,000) by the NFL after Jax Ulbrich - the son of their defensive co-ordinator Jeff Ulbrich - prank called quarterback Shedeur Sanders during the NFL Draft.

Jeff Ulbrich has also personally been fined $100,000 (£75,000) for the incident, which the Falcons had said involved 21-year-old Jax Ulbrich getting Sanders' number from an iPad when visiting his parents' home and writing it down to "later conduct a prank call".

In video footage on social media, Sanders can be heard taking a call from someone purporting to be the New Orleans Saints' general manager Mickey Loomis.

The caller tells Sanders the Saints will make him their next pick before saying that he is going to "have to wait a little bit longer".

Sanders - whose father Deion began his storied NFL career with the Falcons - ended up being selected by the Cleveland Browns as the sixth pick of the fifth round, and 144th overall.

US president Donald Trump has announced that the 2027 NFL Draft will take place in Washington DC.

Eagles to host Cowboys in 2025 NFL season opener

The Philadelphia Eagles will host NFC East rivals the Dallas Cowboys in the 2025 NFL season opener on Thursday 4 September, the league has announced.

It will mark the first time the two teams have faced off in the opening game of a campaign since 2000.

The Eagles beat the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 at Super Bowl 59 in February and will begin the defence of their title against their biggest rivals.

Since 2004, some 20 defending Super Bowl champions have played in the season opener and have gone 15-5 in those games, including the Chiefs' 27-20 win over the Baltimore Ravens in 2024.

The Cowboys, under the leadership of new head coach Brian Schottenheimer, will be looking to avoid becoming victims of that trend.

Several more matches are set to be confirmed over the coming days, with the full schedule being released on Wednesday at 20:00 ET (Thursday 01:00 BST).

NFL 2025 key dates & fixtures - Christmas Day, play-offs & Super Bowl 60

The NFL's global reach will continue to grow in 2025 as the league ventures into more territories than ever before.

A record seven international games will be played during the regular season, with Dublin's Croke Park one of this year's new venues.

The schedule for the NFL's 2025 season was released this week and the road to Super Bowl 60 starts on Thursday, 4 September, with defending champions the Philadelphia Eagles kicking off the new campaign.

The season begins with a bang as the Kansas City Chiefs visit Brazil the following day, then host the Eagles in a Super Bowl rematch in week two.

After winning three of the past six Super Bowls, Kansas City remain one of the league's main attractions and they have the most prime-time games (seven). Five of them come in the first eight weeks and the Chiefs even have to play on Christmas Day too.

When does the NFL season start?

Since 2004, the opening game of the NFL season has featured the defending champions.

The Philadelphia Eagles won Super Bowl 59 in New Orleans in February so will host this season's kick-off game.

They will welcome their divisional rivals the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday, 4 September (01:20 BST, 5 September).

The season's first international game will take place the following day in Sao Paulo (01:00 BST, 6 September), where the Eagles beat the Green Bay Packers last season in the first NFL game to be held in Brazil.

This time round the Los Angeles Chargers will be the designated 'home' team against the Chiefs, who were denied a record third straight Super Bowl win by the Eagles in February.

It will be the first NFL game to be streamed live and for free to a worldwide audience on YouTube.

What are the NFL's Thanksgiving and Christmas Day games?

Football is a big part of the holidays in the US. The Detroit Lions have hosted a Thanksgiving game every year since 1934 and this season they welcome the Green Bay Packers on Thursday, 27 November (18:00 GMT).

After hosting their first Thanksgiving game in 1966, only twice have the Dallas Cowboys not played on the holiday, and this year 'America's Team' face the Chiefs (21:30 GMT).

The Baltimore Ravens then complete the Thanksgiving triple-header at home to the Cincinnati Bengals (01:20 GMT, 28 November).

In 2023, the NFL played its first game on Black Friday - the day after Thanksgiving - and this year the Eagles host the Chicago Bears in a game which will be broadcast on Amazon Prime (20:00 GMT).

After streaming two games on Christmas Day last season, Netflix will again feature two festive fixtures, with the Washington Commanders hosting the Cowboys (18:00 GMT) before the Minnesota Vikings welcome the Lions (21:30 GMT).

There is even a third Christmas game this year as Amazon Prime will show Kansas City's home match with the Denver Broncos (01:15 GMT, 26 December).

When are the NFL London games?

As well as returning to Sao Paulo for the opening international game of 2025, the NFL will stage regular-season games in Ireland and Spain for the first time.

Germany will have its fifth regular-season game, with Berlin playing host for the first time, and there will again be three games in London - between 5 and 19 October.

This year the Minnesota Vikings will make history by becoming the first NFL team to play in three countries in one season, as they will visit Dublin and London in back-to-back weeks.

  • Friday, 5 September - Kansas City Chiefs v Los Angeles Chargers (Sao Paulo)
  • Sunday, 28 September - Minnesota Vikings v Pittsburgh Steelers (Dublin)
  • Sunday, 5 October - Minnesota Vikings v Cleveland Browns (Tottenham, London)
  • Sunday, 12 October - Denver Broncos v New York Jets (Tottenham, London)
  • Sunday, 19 October - Los Angeles Rams v Jacksonville Jaguars (Wembley, London)

How many games are there in the NFL season?

The NFL season is spread over 18 weeks, with each team playing 17 games and having one bye week.

The regular season will end on Sunday, 4 January 2026, with the play-offs scheduled to begin on 10 January.

There are a total of 272 games across the regular season, followed by 13 in the post-season, culminating with the NFL's championship game - the Super Bowl.

When is the Super Bowl?

Super Bowl 60 will be played on 8 February 2026 at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, home of the San Francisco 49ers.

It will be the second time the 68,500-capacity stadium has hosted the big game, after the Denver Broncos beat the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

It will be the third time the NFL's championship game has been held in the San Francisco Bay Area, with Stanford Stadium having hosted the 49ers' win over the Miami Dolphins in Super Bowl 19.

NFL fining more than 100 players for selling Super Bowl tickets above face value, AP source says

The NFL is fining about 100 players and two dozen club employees for violating league policy by selling Super Bowl 59 tickets for above face value, a person with knowledge of the details told The Associated Press on Friday.

The person, speaking to the AP on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation, said the players who resold their tickets will have to pay a fine of 1 1/2 times the face value they paid. They also won’t be permitted to buy tickets for the next two Super Bowls unless they are playing in the game.

Club employees who violated the policy will be fined two times face value.

In a memo sent to teams and obtained by the AP, NFL head of compliance Sabrina Perel said the league was still completing its investigation.

NFL agrees multi-year deal to play games in Rio

The NFL is set to continue its global expansion after agreeing a multi-year commitment to play in Rio de Janeiro from 2026.

It will be the third regular-season game to be played in Brazil after Sao Paulo hosted a week one match both this season and last.

The NFL has now committed to playing a minimum of three regular-season games over five years at the Maracana Stadium in Rio.

The league estimates it has more than 36 million fans in Brazil, the largest country in South America.

"Brazil is now the second-largest consumer of American football outside the United States, and thousands of tourists and sports fans have dreamed of experiencing this event at the world's most famous stadium," said Claudio Castro, governor of the state of Rio de Janeiro.

The NFL has already announced it will stage its first game in Australia during the 2026 season - as part of a multi-year commitment to play at the Melbourne Cricket Ground - and has a long-standing agreement to have multiple games in London each year.

There will be a record seven international games this season, with Dublin hosting its first regular-season game this Sunday, before Berlin and Madrid follow suit in November.

Dolphins seal first win but Hill leaves field injured

The Miami Dolphins overcame an injury to Tyreek Hill to register their first win of the season against the New York Jets in Florida.

Tua Tagovailoa played a key role in the 27-21 victory, throwing two touchdown passes to Darren Walker.

Standout receiver Hill was driven off the field on a buggy in the third quarter with a knee injury and Miami later confirmed he was in hospital for further testing.

"It's just such a terrible experience when you go out and see guys when they have issues like that," Miami coach Mike McDaniel said.

"That's what I know about it. Outside of that, I'm sure I'll be given more information tomorrow."

Hill, who won the Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2019, had six receptions for 67 yards before picking up the injury.

Meanwhile, the Denver Broncos claimed a comfortable 28-3 win against the Cincinnati Bengals in Denver.

Bo Nix threw for a career-high 326 yards and two touchdowns as the Bengals, who were without injured quarterback Joe Burrow, fell to a second successive loss.

Late field goal helps 49ers edge Rams in overtime

Eddy Pineiro's overtime field goal earned the San Francisco 49ers a dramatic 26-23 win over the Los Angeles Rams at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California.

Pineiro's 41-yard score - his fourth of the game - went over via the inside of the left post with less than six minutes remaining.

Deommodore Lenoir and Marques Sigle then combined to deny Rams running back Kyren Williams on the fourth down as the hosts pushed for a late game-levelling score.

Rams had earlier forced overtime thanks to a 48-yard field goal from kicker Joshua Karty with two seconds left in regulation.

It was a battling win for the 49ers, who were without a host of players through injury, including quarterback Brock Purdy and wide receivers Jauan Jennings and Ricky Pearsall.

Purdy's replacement, Mac Jones, overcame a knee injury and arm and leg cramps, completing 33 of 49 passes for 342 yards and two touchdowns.

"It came down to who was going to be the toughest team, and I think it was us," Jones said.

The 49ers, who suffered their first defeat of the season against the Jacksonville Jaguars last week, improve to 4-1 and sit top of of the NFC West.

"I can't say enough about the guys, they were unbelievable," 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said.

"That was a huge character win."

Ex-Jets quarterback Sanchez in hospital after stabbing

Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez is in a stable condition in hospital after being stabbed in Indianapolis, and has been arrested for his role in the incident.

The 38-year-old American, who was the fifth overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft for the New York Jets, was in Indianapolis to commentate on Sunday's game between the Colts and the Las Vegas Raiders for Fox Sports.

In a statement on Saturday, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said it was investigating a "physical disturbance" involving two adult males "resulting in one man receiving lacerations and the other sustaining injuries consistent with stab wounds".

In a second statement, police said Sanchez remained in hospital but had been arrested for "battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and public intoxication".

Fox Sports said: "Mark Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis on Saturday and is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition.

"We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family's privacy during this time."

In a post on X, the New York Jets said: "Sending our thoughts and love to Mark Sanchez and his family. Hoping for a speedy recovery, 6."

In his five seasons with the Jets, where he wore the number six, Sanchez guided them to two consecutive AFC Championship Game appearances.

Across his 10-year career - which also included spells at the Philadelphia Eagles, the Dallas Cowboys, the Chicago Bears and the Washington Commanders - he threw for 15,357 yards with 86 touchdowns and 89 interceptions.

After retiring in 2019, he started a broadcasting career with ESPN before moving to Fox two years later.

Broncos upset Eagles and Patriots stun Bills

The final two unbeaten records in the NFL failed to make it beyond week five as the Philadelphia Eagles and Buffalo Bills suffered shock home defeats.

The Denver Broncos went from dark horses to headline-makers thanks to a superb comeback win against Super Bowl champions the Eagles, before hopping on a plane for Sunday's game in London.

The New England Patriots then went to Buffalo and ended the Bills' unbeaten start with a statement win of their own in their first primetime game in a year.

The Baltimore Ravens suffered a third straight defeat - their defensive woes could be terminal for their play-off hopes - while the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts and Detroit Lions enjoyed blowout wins on another eventful Sunday.

Denver down champions

It was not only beating the Super Bowl champions, but the manner of their 14-point comeback that made Denver's 21-17 victory in Philadelphia such a signature success.

The Eagles had won 10 games in a row, 12 in a row at home and 20 out of 21 overall before Broncos quarterback Bo Nix engineered two touchdowns in five fourth-quarter minutes and a late field goal.

Philadelphia are 4-1 but there is a big worry about the offence, which ranks as one of the worst in the league. Receiver DaVonta Smith says they are not "on the same page" as quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Denver's defence, which sacked Hurts six times, had a lot to do with it, and, together with a genuine franchise quarterback in Nix and top head coach in Sean Payton, they have all the ingredients to mount a serious challenge.

The Broncos face the New York Jets at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.

Primetime Patriots upset Bills

If Denver's win was almost half expected, nobody saw the Patriots marching into Buffalo and beating Josh Allen's Bills, but they did so with huge character.

A first primetime game for Drake Maye produced a breakout performance as he led a game-winning field goal drive in the dying seconds to win 23-20.

Maye was tough and made the right throws at the right times, many to former Bills receiver Stefon Diggs, who had a big game for Mike Vrabel's side.

Vrabel was expected to turn things around in New England, but a win like this came earlier than many predicted.

Ravens play-off hopes over?

The season is turning into a nightmare for the Ravens, who were missing a host of defensive stars as they were hammered 44-10 by the Houston Texans.

It matched their largest home defeat, and dropping to 1-4 for the season means one of the pre-season Super Bowl favourites have only a slim chance of making the play-offs.

Baltimore are now 4-11 playing without superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson, who was injured, but it is a historically bad defence that is the real problem - for a team that have been synonymous with defensive toughness over the years.

The Texans strolled to victory as the Ravens became the first team in the Super Bowl era to concede at least 37 points in four of their first five games. Their season is already in tatters.

Lions, Bucs and Colts go 4-1

Detroit's running back duo Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery scored a touchdown in the same game for the 14th time - a joint NFL record - as the Lions put away the Cincinnati Bengals 37-24.

Victory made it four wins in a row for the league's top scorers Detroit, but none against teams with a winning record.

A more surprising 4-1 side are the Indianapolis Colts. With Jonathan Taylor running in a hat-trick in their 40-6 hammering of the Las Vegas Raiders and quarterback Daniel Jones looking like a new man, they will be a tough match for any side.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers joined the 4-1 club with a mesmeric 38-35 win in Seattle in which the sides traded nine touchdowns in 10 sparkling possessions before the Seahawks cracked first with a late interception.

Chase McLaughlin booted the winner with the last kick of the game for the second time this season. All four of the Bucs' victories have been secured in the last minute.

Saints and Titans get help for first wins

The way the New Orleans Saints and Tennessee Titans started the season, they needed help to get their first wins, and they got plenty thanks to some farcical mistakes from the New York Giants and Arizona Cardinals.

After a good start from New York rookie Jaxson Dart, the Giants committed five turnovers - one was crucially returned for a touchdown - while also allowing Rashid Shaheed to score on an 87-yard catch and run as the Saints won 26-14.

Arizona were even worse as they blew a 21-3 lead mainly thanks to two huge mistakes.

First, Emari Demercado inexplicably dropped the ball just before crossing the line for a 72-yard touchdown.

He obviously did not watch the Colts' Adonai Mitchell do exactly the same thing last week.

Worse was to come when Arizona intercepted Cam Ward near their own goal line, then fumbled the ball into the end zone for Tyler Lockett to score as Tennessee ended a 10-game losing streak with a 22-21 win.

That left the Jets as the only winless team left in the NFL after their bruising 37-22 defeat by the Cowboys.

Jayden Daniels became the first player in NFL history to eclipse 4,000 passing yards and 1,000 yards rushing in his first 20 career games as he returned from injury to steer the Washington Commanders to an impressive 27-10 win at the Los Angeles Chargers.

Rico Dowdle was the star man for the Carolina Panthers with 206 rushing yards in their thrilling 27-24 victory over the Miami Dolphins.

Titans sack head coach Callahan after poor start

The Tennessee Titans have sacked head coach Brian Callahan following a disappointing start to the NFL season.

The Titans are bottom of the standings in the Southern Division of the American Football Conference (AFC) after five defeats and a solitary victory.

They were beaten 20-10 by the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday in what was 41-year-old Callahan's final game at the helm.

Chad Brinker, the Titans' president of football operations, said Callahan was a person of "great character" and "these decisions are never easy".

"Our players, fans, and community deserve a football team that achieves a standard we are not currently meeting," Brinker added.

"We are committed to making the hard decisions necessary to reach and maintain that standard."

The Titans had the worst record in the NFL last year and had the first overall pick in the 2025 draft, selecting quarterback Cam Ward.

Bengals upset Steelers with dramatic late win

Evan McPherson's field goal with seven seconds left gave the Cincinnati Bengals a dramatic 33-31 victory against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The win ended a four-game losing streak for the Bengals (3-4), while the Steelers (4-2) were beaten on the road for the first time this season.

In only the fourth match-up between two 40-plus quarterbacks, Joe Flacco threw for 342 yards and three touchdowns for the Bengals.

On the other side, Aaron Rodgers threw for 249 yards and four touchdowns but was intercepted twice.

A Jonnu Smith touchdown had helped the Steelers to a 10-0 lead before the Bengals responded with Ja'Marr Chase, who finished with 16 catches for 161 yards, and Tee Higgins going over the line as they took a 20-10 advantage.

Pittsburgh's Pat Freiermuth and Cincinnati's Noah Fant traded touchdowns before Darnell Washington got to the end zone for the Steelers.

A Freiermuth touchdown put the Steelers 31-30 up before McPherson's fourth field goal of the game gave the Bengals the win.

Mahomes stars in Chiefs win against Commanders

Patrick Mahomes threw three touchdowns as the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Washington Commanders 28-7 on Monday evening.

Following two first-half interceptions, Mahomes found his rhythm after the interval to inspire the Chiefs to win their third consecutive game.

The two-time NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) completed 25 of his 34 passes for 299 yards, finding Kareem Hunt, Rashee Rice and Terry McLaurin for touchdowns in the second half.

Tight end Travis Kelce enjoyed his best performance of the season, with six catches for 99 yards and a touchdown of his own.

The 36-year-old considered retirement after the Chiefs' Super Bowl defeat by the Philadelphia Eagles in February but committed to at least another season in March.

The three-time Super Bowl winner said he and Commanders tight end Zach Ertz, 34, are making the most of the time they have left in their career.

"We're cherishing every single one of these games, not knowing how long we'll be able to do this," said Kelce.

The Chiefs have now won four of their last five games, improving their record to five wins and three defeats from eight matches.

The Commanders have lost five of their eight games, winning three.

Dowdle fined for 'two-pump' pelvic thrust celebration

Carolina Panthers running back Rico Dowdle has been fined for an "excessive celebration" featuring two pelvic thrusts.

After scoring a touchdown during Sunday's win at the Green Bay Packers, Dowdle was penalised for unsportsmanlike conduct.

That resulted in a 15-yard penalty, pushing back the extra-point attempt, and although the kick was missed, the Panthers clinched a 16-13 win with a field goal as time expired.

According to ESPN, 27-year-old Dowdle has also been fined $14,491 (£11,095).

The call against Dowdle disproved a supposed NFL rule demonstrated in a Key & Peele comedy sketch in 2013.

The NFL's list of prohibited acts includes taunting, any violent gesture such as simulating a gun and "prolonged or excessive celebrations or demonstrations by an individual player or multiple players''.

In the Key & Peele sketch an American football referee, played by Jordan Peele, would throw the penalty flag for a 'three-pump' celebration by Keegan-Michael Key's character Hingle McCringleberry, but two pumps was deemed acceptable.

Key responded on social media, saying: "Rico! Man, you got robbed - you only did two pumps. I'm sorry, man. Now we're gonna have to write a new sketch."

Carolina coach Dave Canales said on Sunday: "We've got to make sure that we understand the rules. I might have to call up Keegan-Michael Key to get clarification on that part of it.

"But from what I understand, any kind of movement that way, any weapons, or all that stuff is going to get flagged. We've got to be smarter about that."

Dallas Cowboys' Kneeland dies aged 24

Dallas Cowboys defensive lineman Marshawn Kneeland has died aged 24.

Kneeland was drafted by the Cowboys in the second round in 2024 and played 18 times for the team, including four starts.

Frisco Police Department in Texas said Kneeland appeared to have taken his own life after a vehicle pursuit and multi-agency search on Wednesday night.

A police statement said he had crashed his car and then fled on foot.

Officers were informed Kneeland had "expressed suicidal intentions" before he was found dead at 01:31 local time on Thursday.

A cause of death will be confirmed by the Collin County Medical Examiner's Office.

The Dallas Cowboys said: "Marshawn was a beloved teammate and member of our organisation.

"Our thoughts and prayers regarding Marshawn are with his girlfriend Catalina and his family."

Kneeland's agent, Jonathan Perzley, said his "heart aches" for the death of a player who "poured his heart" into every moment.

"I watched him fight his way from a hopeful kid at Western Michigan with a dream to being a respected professional for the Dallas Cowboys," Perzley said.

Kneeland scored his first touchdown in Tuesday's defeat by the Arizona Cardinals when he recovered a blocked punt.

He was selected by Dallas with the 56th overall pick of the 2024 draft after playing college football for Western Michigan.

The NFL said it is "deeply saddened".

Ex-NFL star Brown pleads not guilty to shooting charge

Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown has pleaded not guilty to second-degree attempted murder in relation to a shooting incident in May.

The 2021 Super Bowl winner was extradited to the United States last week after being arrested in Dubai and his plea was filed by his attorney Mark Eiglarsh in Miami on Tuesday.

Following an investigation into the incident in Miami on 17 May, police issued an arrest warrant in June which alleged Brown took a gun from a security guard and fired two shots at a man he had brawled with earlier on.

No arrests were made at the time and no injuries were reported.

Brown had been detained by police at the time of the incident before being released.

The 37-year-old's attorney Eiglarsh has requested a trial by jury. If Brown goes to trial and is convicted, he could serve as many as 15 years in prison.

A statement issued by Eiglarsh has also been posted on Brown's X account,, external which reads: "The actions he was forced to take were solely in self-defence against the alleged victim's violent behaviour.

"Brown was attacked that night and acted within his legal right to protect himself from an individual who previously committed criminal acts against him."

Brown spent the first nine years of his 12-year career with the Pittsburgh Steelers and scored a touchdown as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Super Bowl in 2021, before playing his final NFL game with the Bucs in January 2022.

Gronkowski rejoins Patriots for friend's last wish

Rob Gronkowski has fulfilled the dying wish of a friend by signing a one-day contract with the New England Patriots, nearly four years after his last NFL appearance, in order to retire with the team.

The former tight end won three Super Bowls alongside star quarterback Tom Brady during an eight-year stint with the Patriots.

Gronkowski retired in 2019, but came out of retirement to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers alongside Brady for two more seasons, winning a fourth championship ring in Florida.

But 'Gronk' is best known for his time in New England, and there are plans to induct the 36-year-old into the Patriots' hall of fame in 2026.

Since leaving the team, Gronkowski has continued working with charities in the greater Boston area.

But earlier this month, Gronkowski's charity partner Susan Hurley, a former Patriots cheerleader who founded CharityTeams in 2008, died from cancer.

Before her death, Hurley publicly requested that Gronkowski return to the Patriots so that he could officially retire at his "home".

Gronkowski said on Wednesday: "We are 100% here today for her, no doubt about that.

"I've never seen anyone have so much passion and so much grace for what they do and in raising money for other charities."

He added that honouring his long-time friend was an "absolute no-brainer".

Patriots owner Robert Kraft praised Gronkowski, saying: "His clutch performances were legendary, and his larger than life personality and connections with the fans has truly made him a New England icon."

The American is third in the all-time list for receiving touchdowns (92) by tight ends.

The Patriots host the New York Jets on Thursday (01:15 GMT on Friday).

Patriots win to equal best run since Brady years

The New England Patriots matched their longest winning run since the Tom Brady era as they beat AFC East rivals the New York Jets 27-14 in the NFL.

Rookie TreVeyon Henderson led the way with three touchdowns as the Patriots claimed an eighth straight win for the first time since legendary quarterback Brady's final season with the team in 2019.

Quarterback Drake Maye threw for 281 yards and a touchdown, completing 25 of 34 passes.

Victory extends the Patriots lead at the top of the division as they moved to nine wins and two defeats, with the Jets bottom after falling to two wins and eight losses.

The visitors had gone in front at Gillette Stadium with quarterback Justin Fields running in a five-yard touchdown to finish the Jets' opening drive.

But the Patriots responded in the second quarter as Henderson ran in two seven-yard touchdowns before the running back caught a pass from Maye at the back of the endzone midway through the third quarter to make it 21-7.

"It was a big time for him stepping up, and it's been great for him to keep getting these reps," Maye said of Henderson. "He wants to be great."

Fields connected with John Metchie late in the third quarter to close the gap for the Jets but Andy Borregales kicked a pair of field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots closed out the win.

New York Jets player in critical condition after Manhattan shooting

Kris Boyd, a cornerback for American football team the New York Jets, was shot in the abdomen early Sunday, according to US media.

The 29-year-old is in critical condition at the hospital, the New York Police Department told CBS News, the BBC's US partner. The NYPD did not name Boyd as the victim, but a spokesperson for the Jets confirmed to the BBC that Boyd had been shot.

At around 02:00 local time (07:00 GMT) on Sunday morning, police received a 911 call about a shooting in midtown Manhattan. Police responded to a location outside a high-end restaurant called Sei Less.

An investigation is still underway and police do not have a suspect in custody, the NYPD told CBS.

"We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time," a spokesperson for the Jets told the BBC.

Prior to joining the Jets earlier this year, Boyd played two seasons with the Houston Texans, following one season with the Arizona Cardinals and four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings.

The cornerback had been on injured reserve for the Jets after suffering a shoulder injury during team practice in August.

New York Jets linebacker Jermaine Johnson posted on X asking for prayers for his teammate.

"Lord please hold your healing hand over Kris and guide him back to health and safety. Lord I ask that you please just get him through this safely," Johnson wrote.

Other fans have been reacting on X, praying for Boyd's recovery.

Cowboys honour Kneeland before win against Raiders

The Dallas Cowboys honoured Marshawn Kneeland with a series of tributes before their 33-16 victory against the Las Vegas Raiders.

The 24-year-old was found dead earlier this month, after he had fled his car on foot following a crash that took place as he was pursued by police.

The Frisco Police Department in Texas said the defensive lineman appeared to have taken his own life.

After a bye in week 10 of the NFL, the Monday Night Football trip to the Raiders was the Cowboys' first game since Kneeland's death.

Both Raiders and Cowboys players wore shirts bearing Kneeland's face during their pre-game warm-up, while the Raiders jerseys carried a number for a suicide prevention helpline.

The Cowboys prepared a locker in the dressing room with Kneeland's number 94 jersey on display.

The 2024 second-round draft pick played 18 times for the Cowboys - including four starts.

Quarterback Dak Prescott, whose brother Jace took his own life in 2020, wore a 'One Love' wristband, in homage to the phrase that Kneeland often used.

"I have no better peace than being on this field, and I know that's the same for a lot of guys out here," Prescott said.

"It was a blessing to be out here, this is where the healing happens for me. We love Marshawn, we're going to continue to shine a light for him and we're blessed to continue his light for him."

Prescott threw four touchdowns as the Cowboys earned their fourth win of the campaign.

The 32-year-old found CeeDee Lamb, Jake Ferguson and George Pickens in quick succession to push the visitors into a 24-6 lead before hitting Ryan Flournoy for his final connection.

The Cowboys trail the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East while the Raiders are bottom of the AFC West.

49ers boost play-off hopes with win over Panthers

San Francisco 49ers registered back-to-back wins for the first time since September by overcoming the Carolina Panthers 20-9 on Monday.

Running back Christian McCaffrey ran for 89 yards and a touchdown against his former team as the 49ers, who are third in the NFC West, boosted their play-off hopes with victory in Santa Clara, California.

McCaffrey, 29, who also had 24 carries and caught seven passes for 53 yards, was traded from the Panthers to the 49ers in October 2022.

Starting 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy struggled in the first half as he was intercepted three times in the opening 21 minutes, which halted his side's early offensive progress.

Panthers' Bryce Young, who threw for a franchise-record 448 yards at Atlanta Falcons last week, finished 18-for-29 for 169 yards. The quarterback had one touchdown pass and threw two interceptions.

His team-mate Jaycee Horn, meanwhile, sustained a head injury during the second quarter after intercepting Purdy twice and missed the rest of the game.

The defeat for Carolina, who are pushing for top spot in the NFC South, sees them drop to second in the table behind the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

They face NFC West leaders Los Angeles Rams next, while San Francisco take on Cleveland Browns, who are bottom of the AFC North. Both games are on Sunday at 18:00 GMT.

Chiefs suffer huge play-off blow with defeat in Dallas

The Kansas City Chiefs' play-off hopes are hanging by a thread after losing 31-28 at the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving.

The Cowboys have traditionally hosted games on the American holiday since 1966 and 'America's Team' produced a superb performance to overcome the Chiefs despite Patrick Mahomes throwing four touchdown passes as he returned to his native Texas.

Mahomes has led the Chiefs to five of the past six Super Bowls, winning three, but they now have a 6-6 record and are in danger of missing out on the play-offs for the first time since the 2014 season.

The Cowboys came from behind to lead 17-14 at half-time, but a tense finish began with the Chiefs taking a 21-20 lead at the start of the fourth quarter.

Quarterback Dak Prescott then held his nerve as Dallas scored 11 points on their next two possessions to keep them clear, despite a late Chiefs reply.

The Cowboys have now claimed back-to-back wins over both of last season's Super Bowl teams in just five days after beating the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

After a stirring 21-point comeback against the Eagles - who denied the Chiefs a three-peat in February - the win over Kansas City is a third in a row for Dallas, to improve to 6-5-1 and keep alive their own hopes of sneaking into the post-season.

With five games left, Dallas are second to the Eagles (8-3) in the NFC East while the Chiefs trail both the Denver Broncos (9-2) and Los Angeles Chargers (7-4) in the AFC West.

Packers keep pressure on Bears

The Green Bay Packers kept the pressure on the Chicago Bears as they won 31-24 at another of their NFC North divisional rivals, Detroit.

The Lions have hosted Thanksgiving games since 1934 but slipped to a 7-5 record as they failed to contain a Packers offence well led by Jordan Love.

The Green Bay quarterback threw for 234 passing yards and a season-high four touchdowns to keep his team in front throughout, leading 17-14 at half-time.

Dontayvion Wicks scored a touchdown in the second and third quarters to help the Packers to a third straight win and improve to 8-3-1.

The Bears top the NFC North on 8-3 and visit Philadelphia on Black Friday before travelling to Green Bay next week.

Burrow gets Bengals back on track

The Cincinnati Bengals halted a four-game losing streak to beat the Baltimore Ravens 32-14 on home soil - winning for just the second time in 10 games.

Quarterback Joe Burrow passed for 261 yards and two touchdowns on his return from nine weeks on the sidelines after toe surgery.

Cincinnati's Tanner Hudson and Andrei Iosivas caught touchdown passes, while Evan McPherson kicked a career-high six field goals.

Derrick Henry and Keaton Mitchell each ran in touchdowns as Baltimore saw a five-game winning run come to an end.

Baltimore are second in the AFC North with Cincinnati third in the same division.

Bears beat Eagles to extend winning streak to five

The Chicago Bears won 24-15 in Philadelphia to strengthen their position at the top of a competitive NFC North table.

Their running backs provided the foundation for success against the Eagles, with D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai both rushing for more than 100 yards and each scoring a touchdown.

Caleb Williams found tight end Cole Kmet with a 28-yard touchdown pass midway through the fourth quarter to secure victory.

A win for Green Bay (8-3-1) over divisional rivals Detroit (7-5) on Thursday had tightened the gap to Chicago, but the Bears' fifth consecutive victory improved their record to 9-3.

Chicago face the Packers in two of their next three fixtures, starting with a trip to Lambeau Field on Sunday, 7 December.

The Eagles, meanwhile, were subjected to boos by a section of their home supporters as they put in a disjointed performance to slip to a second successive defeat.

The reigning Super Bowl champions (8-4) lead the NFC East but the Dallas Cowboys (6-5-1) have closed in with victories over Philadelphia and the Kansas City Chiefs in their past two outings.

A 10-3 scoreline at half-time did not quite do justice to Chicago's first-half superiority.

Philadelphia, who squandered a 21-0 lead in their defeat by Dallas on Sunday, struggled on both sides of the ball early on and managed only 83 yards of total offence in the first half.

Home quarterback Jalen Hurts turned the ball over twice in the third quarter - an interception, only his second of the season, and a fumble sandwiching a 33-yard touchdown pass to AJ Brown which had reduced the Eagles' deficit to a single point.

That fumble, forced and recovered by Nahshon Wright, proved pivotal. It came shortly after Williams had been intercepted by Jalyx Hunt and with Philadelphia, deep in Chicago territory, poised to go in front for the first time.

The Bears scored touchdowns on their next two drives to put the result beyond doubt, with Brown's second receiving touchdown late on merely a consolation.

Smyth to keep place for New Orleans Saints

New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore has confirmed Charlie Smyth will keep his place as starting kicker for their game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this weekend.

The 24-year-old made his NFL debut on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, kicking a 56-yard field goal and completing an onside kick in the 21-17 defeat.

After waiving Blake Grupe in the build-up to the Dolphins game, the Saints signed Cade York but have opted to keep the more experienced NFL kicker in their practice squad once again for Smyth.

"We'll go with Charlie," Moore said, when asked who would kick on Sunday.

"Charlie will be ready to go. He did an excellent job last week and we're in a good development phase with both of these guys."

The Mayobridge native, who was part of the NFL's international player pathway programme, initially signed for the Saints in March 2024 and featured in pre-season in August before his debut in Florida last weekend.

Coach Moore described Smyth's first points in the NFL as "phenomenal", adding that the former Down GAA goalkeeper had "earned this opportunity".

"He's prepared himself really well. We have a lot of confidence in him. He obviously has the leg to make some big-time kicks," Moore said after the Dolphins defeat.

"That was a challenging situation, but it was a situation we needed to get some points there and he drilled it, and it was a phenomenal kick by him."

Hurts loses ball twice on same play as Eagles beaten

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts bizarrely lost the ball twice during the same play as the reigning Super Bowl champions slumped to a third successive defeat on Monday.

The incident happened in the second quarter when Hurts was intercepted by the Los Angeles Chargers' Da'Shawn Hand. The defensive linesman then fumbled the ball and Hurts gathered it up, only to then lose the ball again when he was tackled.

Reports from the US indicate it is the first time since records of this nature began in 1978 that a player has turned the ball over twice on the same play.

It was a chastening game for Hurts who threw a career-high four interceptions at the SoFi Stadium in California, the final one coming when Tony Jefferson picked off a pass at the one-yard line to end the game in overtime.

Cameron Dicker had earlier kicked what turned out to be the game-winning 54-yard field goal in the extra period - matching his career-high five field goals in a single game - as the Chargers won 22-19.

Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, who played after undergoing surgery on a fractured hand on 1 December, completed 12 of 26 passes for 139 yards.

A fifth victory in their past six outings leaves the Chargers second in the AFC West, while the Eagles remain top of the NFC East.

Both sides return to action on 14 December at 20:00 GMT, with the Chargers travelling to the Kansas City Chiefs and the Eagles hosting the Las Vegas Raiders.

Colts sign grandfather Rivers, 44, out of retirement

Philip Rivers has come out of retirement to rejoin the Indianapolis Colts, five years after the 44-year-old grandfather last played in the NFL.

The Colts faced a sudden need to fill their quarterback room after picking up two injuries during Sunday's 36-19 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Daniel Jones was ruled out with a season-ending Achilles injury and his replacement, third-string rookie Riley Leonard, picked up a knee problem.

Back-up quarterback Anthony Richardson was already out with a facial injury, so Rivers worked out for the Colts on Monday - his 44th birthday.

The father of 10, who has been serving as the head coach at St. Michael Catholic High School in Alabama, has now been added to the team's practice squad.

That makes Rivers the oldest current player in the NFL, surpassing Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who turned 42 last week.

After spending the first 16 years of his NFL career with the Chargers franchise, Rivers joined the Colts in 2020 and led them to an 11-5 record, falling at the first hurdle in the play-offs.

The Colts, who were this season's pacesetters before losing their past three games to slip to 8-5, have promoted Brett Rypien from their practice squad to their active roster, making the 29-year-old eligible for Sunday's game at the Seattle Seahawks.

Rivers is seventh on the NFL's all-time list for passing yards (63,440) and sixth for touchdown passes (421).

Colts head coach Shane Steichen served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach while Rivers was with the Chargers.

Rivers' eldest child is two months older than Colts rookie Leonard and leading up to this year's draft - when he was a sixth-round pick by Indianapolis - the 23-year-old worked with Rivers as the veteran lives in his hometown of Fairhope, Alabama.

Rivers' return could also affect his Hall of Fame status. Players become eligible five years after ending their career and, in his first year of eligibility, Rivers has been named a semi-finalist for the class of 2026.

If he remains on the Colts' practice squad, he will maintain his eligibility, but if he is elevated to the active roster, he will not be eligible again until the class of 2031.

Chiefs to miss NFL play-offs for first time in 11 years

Three-time Super Bowl winner Patrick Mahomes will not play in the NFL post-season for the first time in his career as the Kansas City Chiefs have been eliminated from play-off contention.

Sunday's 16-13 loss at home to the Los Angeles Chargers means that, despite having three regular season games remaining, the Chiefs will miss out on the play-offs for the first time in 11 years.

Head coach Andy Reid has led the Chiefs to the post-season in each of the past 10 seasons and to the Super Bowl in five of the past six.

They won the NFL's championship game in 2020, 2023 and 2024, and were denied the first Super Bowl three-peat last February.

Mahomes became the Chiefs' starting quarterback in 2018 and has reached at least the AFC Championship game in each of the past seven seasons.

The 30-year-old, who has twice been named the season's Most Valuable Player, had to be helped from the field after getting injured with less than two minutes left in Sunday's game.

The Chiefs led 13-3 late in the second quarter but the Chargers fought back with 13 unanswered points to leave their divisional rivals with a 6-8 record.

Travis Kelce has been a regular starter since the 2014 season so has also been a key player in each of Reid's three Super Bowl-winning teams.

The 36-year-old tight end, who is engaged to music superstar Taylor Swift, said last month that he would wait until after the season to decide whether he will retire.
