The Wrestling Discussion Thread

Roman v Bronson was good, but I am kind getting sick of these Triple H injury angles. The first one or two were unique. But now it feels like they unfold in the exact same way every single time. They take an eternity to finish and it's always the same damn thing. One wrestler will get a beatdown and just as you are thinking the beatdown is over the other wrestler will come back and beat him up some more. Then you see this whole cycle repeat again and again, and at this point it has just gotten predictable and repetitive.

Wyatt Sicks v Street Profits was like any other random SmackDown match. Not sure what it was doing on this card. Becky v Bella was a trainwreck with a few big botches and alot of sloppiness.

Rusev v Sheamus was an entertaining No DQ match. Had some fun spots...they really went all out on the Irish bar theme lol. Anyway I was a bit surprised to see Rusev win so decisively. Especially since we all know that the booking will not support him and he will soon become yet another irrelevant midcarder.
Cena Paul was good as well. Thankfully Cena didn't job out to Logan. Mainevent was awful as predicted. Any match that Seth wins is awful.

Cena's styles clash got a huge pop and yet Noseley didn't bother to book him in a country he has Austin level stature.
I was surprised there was no Drew-Randy match either or Cody. Felt more like a SNME than a PLE.

Say what you will about H but he was not the kind of person who would ever be caught doing something like that. He may not have any talent but he has always taken his job seriously ever since he was put in that upper card position.

You have to be clean right or else how will you keep sharp for all that chalaki, plus why do drugs yeah, when you can just keep injecting your best mate who happens to be the undisputed world champion.

French wrestling crowds are so annoying. Why can't they just shut up?

The ‘male’ French people in general are scumbags, anyone who has travelled there will tell you what a rude bunch of people they are. But Paris surprised me because they were not as obnoxious as the fans in Lyon, it was an indoor stadium and they created an epic atmosphere, you pull out all stops, big stars, big matches and an epic set then it wont be like the crickets in Wembley. This was sadly Cena’s final match in Europe and he deserved the reception.

Till last year you had atleast one big match on these events that delivered. Thinking back to Gunther v Sheamus in Wales or Punk v Drew inside HIAC. But lately even that has stopped happening. Just a bunch of average matches and one or two good ones that you could see on RAW or SmackDown too

Not to mention injecting your own body with steroids. Can't imagine you'd need to do any more long-term damage to yourself than that.

Lyon show was by far the worst interms of this aspect. Maybe because it was such a big arena you couldn't hear the noise as much. That happens at WrestleMania shows too sometimes.

But still it annoyed me a bit. Worst thing is their 'Two just two' chant, which only they do.

This was a great PLE / PPV that didn’t appear to have the usual H bs until the very end.

One hell of an opener, now that’s how you get a rising prospect over without even having to take the L for them, Bronson has his best match against Roman Reigns who’s just at the top of his game and so smooth in the ring, Bronson was really up for it and for a big dude he’s pretty creative. What a reception for Roman, he’s in insane shape, the electricity around him is unreal and the man has as much ring presence as any of the top stars in history, the fact that hipsters would mention the likes of Tanahooshi, Okoochi or Ofaga in the same sentence as Roman Reigns is looking very embarrassing.

I was fine with Becky / Nikki, it was a decent match, the latter put on a better match then anything I’ve seen from Jade Cargill so far and she’s still ring rusty, Jade always looks like she’s working for the first time.

Cena / Logan, I hate Logan being given this match, look his character work we’ve said is brilliant for his experience levels but I’ve never bought into him as a main-event guy from day one and he is still not there yet, however, Cena helped him have his best match so far and it should be a good learning experience; Cena doubled down again on the fact that he doesn’t pick his opponents and I think that’s true or else he would never have worked with Logan, his influence is dwindling & there are better spots for him on the card. Good match though.

Sheamus & Russev had a war and the main-event involving the four way was also very good until Stephanie McMahon showed up to help H screw The Rock, maybe The Rock will get his W back at Backlash iA.

He’s trying so hard to make Becky and Seth his version of himself and Stephanie… so forced… so cringe.

But unfortunately this gay ass faction called wandavision or whatever will go on for another 2-3 years

On the plus side we got the ladies shots during the Punk entrance, he still got that appeal unlike anybody else anymore, not sure if it’s just society or wrestling not being cool anymore, or goofy cosplayers coming out dresses up as Teletubbies etc

This is basically it and he couldn’t be more obvious, they should have Becky wear a strapon while they are it

That was my big worry but they literally had Logan take 50 AA’s so it’s like they are telling us we didn’t really want him to lose and think he’s on Cody Rhodes’s level which is kinda pathetic in the wrestling logic world

Cause Noseley has run out of ideas or IWC is saturated (where he gets all the ideas) with the dream matches that would slap without needing much storyline. He's struggling to do something that actually delivers since The Bloodline dissolved. Roman made sure to give one great main event after the other (storywise) and make PLE's feel grand.
They need a creative overhaul. With so much money and talent on the roster, they're just out of ideas now.

The good thing about the feud with Logan was Cena literally destroying him in the promos leading up to the match. Loved savage Cena back.

Considering the roster they have I don't believe that he has run out of quality match-ups. I think it's just his completely unimaginative booking style that is to blame

Which is what i said. His booking sense is unable to book any good matches or feuds even though there is a lot of high level talent available in addition to a lot of underused wrestlers.

Yet to see Logan Paul v Cena. I fast-forwarded to the main-event because it was getting late here and then fell asleep after, so I'll watch that tonight.

Main-event was fine for the most part. But tbh, I'm just not a big fan of these types of matches. It's always the same where you have two guys laying on the outside for an eternity or waiting for their spot, while the other two fight in the ring. Which just completely spits in the face of logic. I just don't understand why multiple man elimination matches are no longer a thing in wrestling.

Despite that, this match had some fun moments. Like LA (sorta) sending Punk through the table, in a callback to the RAW spot, and the babyfaces working together. One thing that made no sense at all though was the table spot where Punk, Jey and LA were going to powerbomb Rollins through the table, and then for some reason Jey decided to superkick Punk before they could. Like why would you not do that after you guys powerbombed Rollins through the table? That made Jey look like a real doofus. And ofcourse the finish absolutely sucked. Eventhough I knew that there was going to be some kind of interference and Punk was going to get screwed in some way.

Only conclusion I can draw from it is that they are thinking of doing Rollins & Becky v Punk & his wife AJ.

I wanna see Roman v Bron Breakker at their next PLE.

After that I wanna see Punk, Roman, LA, Jey & Sami v Rollins, Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, Ethan Page (they need a fourth member and it should be someone fresh and new) & Drew in a WarGames match.

Bron Breakker is another guy I am very impressed by. There is absolutely no doubt to me that he is the future of wrestling. But his outlook on the wrestling business is really nice to hear about too. It's no surprise that he has an old-school upbringing being Rick Steiner's son and Scott Steiner's nephew. Even in this interview with The Undertaker he tries his best not to expose the business or reveal too much about the BTS stuff..

What's most impressive about him to me is how much of a natural he is for wrestling. You just don't see guys progress as rapidly as he has. The only other example that comes to mind is Brock Lesnar. And unlike, Brock, Bron actually seems to have a genuine love for wrestling. I don't think you have to be a rocket scientist to know that he is going to be their next Roman Reigns-level star barring something unforeseen happening.

Everyone get ready for Becky cutting everyones balls while the cuck in gorilla gets a stiffy over it, this reign of terror will challenge the OG one

Bro, how can they not have that kind of match though, who else is going to buy WWE 2k otherwise? I could swear the AI wrestlers roll out during the 4-ways in the same fashion. I have low expectations from these matches, late in the night, it’s more about getting to the spots & enjoying the individual performances, Punk was the only who was really selling his @ss off & LA carried the match with some of the sick bumps he took for no reward, maybe he can win the IC title soon because Sami Zayn was fed his annual bone a few days ago. This is the video game era and unfortunately it’s not just AEW who are plagued by it.

He should do, he just got an idiot booker to work with, under Vince he would have been pushed hard to the top already, he creates diamonds that way. Lesnar loves this business and you see it in how he works, I think in the 2000’s it was just a brutal shock for him and being a young dad etc the schedule was brutal, heck even Kurt Angle couldn’t deal with it and sadly, it pushed Eddie to the brink as well, Lesnar loved wrestling itself and rode with all the legends, he learned so much on the road, he use to ride with Kane & Taker so I think he developed that old school respect on the job; talent now don’t want to learn this way or pay their dues or it’s just the times as well. Lesnar according to Rey Mysterio use to look at his kids pictures on the coach and cry, and lets not forget he was pushed very very hard right away. I think Brok would handle it better and Roman managed really well early on to due to their family legacy and growing up in the business. If Vince didn’t push Lesnar as hard I don’t know if he would have hung around, perhaps a little longer? But we got so many legendary matches out of during that period. I just wish he got to work with Shawn Michaels in 2004.

So you're telling me your mate has a joint bank account with his mother? :wahab2

Sounds like you had a fun experience. Interesting to hear the in-house perspective on a show I saw on Netflix. I think this is about as much as you can expect from a RAW these days. A couple of big segments/matches with stars and a bunch of cold matches or segments no one cares about. Still sounds better than watching an episode of SmackDown

It wouldn’t shock me LOL one of those merah ladlah puthar. Btw is Cobana getting booked these days
:yk

Main thing for me honestly was to see CM Punk, even if it wasn’t in a major capacity. I even considered going to the house show he was headlining in Liverpool but it would have been a difficult trek, I took the gamble and got the 2 min appearance from him which made it worth it for me and seeing AJ Styles wrestle. Not to mention swearing at Seth Rollins, whenever crowds do the woah now I can’t stop laughing because fans in my city really didn’t give a crap about him and were cursing him all night.

Unless SD advertises Cena or Cody, it seems like they call it in, at what they charge the town, it’s basically extortion. This is the issue when you put all your eggs in 1-2 of your fab baskets and fail to push stars who fans really want to get behind and also bury other vets such as Orton because you don’t want them to go past your kayfabe achievements.

I guess what I meant was that Lesnar was not the type of guy who grew up watching wrestling or probably even watches it now when he sitting on his couch in his compound in Saskatchewan or whatever. He seems like the type of guy where once he walks out the curtain, he's completely locked in and then you get to see a truly one-of-a-kind performer in his element. But as he has said, he doesn't like travelling and being on the road and one of the big reasons for him leaving in 2004 was also him being burnt out from all the travel and the hectic schedule. And tbh I don't see what's wrong with that. Not everyone has to love every aspect of the wrestling business. But Bron just seems to love it more passionately judging by this interview, so there is a difference.

As for Bron, I feel he is the type of talent who will succeed no matter who the booker is. I agree with you that under Vince he would have gotten a much bigger push. But I think with him the positives are so evident that there's no way you can eff it up, even if you're Triple H.

I disagree with this because the exploding thing made into the AEW video game, when I finally get to play it, first thing I’m going to do is try and explode the entire promotion itself.
I actually loved this match up till that embarrassing popcorn fart of a post-match explosion lol. It was exactly what it was advertised to be, and very entertaining. They should have left it there instead of doing the cringeworthy post-match angle which buried the whole promotion.

I don't know I guess because of Punk and LA I had slightly higher expectations for this one but I get your point. You need to turn your brain off for these types of matches. Thing is, even the spots were not that great. Like the interplay was okay but you could have done more. I also felt that Jey Uso added nothing to this match. You could have added anyone else there in his place and it probably would have been better. Jey Uso has such a limited and predictable move-set that he makes Kevin Nash look like Nick Bockwinkel. And what's worse is that he has still not learned how to work. You can get by with limited moves if you know how to work..

At this point an IC Championship run would be a slap in the face to LA and the fans, because on one hand they are trying to tell you that he is a top star who is being booked in main-event spots for the past few months, but on the other hand you know that they have no intention of pushing him in any meaningful way. I actually don't mind Sami getting the US Championship as long as he's not feuding with Temu Bloodline, because Sami is one of the best wrestlers in the world right now so atleast you will get some quality of wrestling matches. I also have some hope for him because he got over big two years ago which means his push might only be another 6-8 months away according to the Triple H push system. LA, I reckon, might be 50 before he finally gets a World title run.

Lol Colt Cabana? No. He wasn't even getting booked 4 years ago when they brought Punk on. Last I saw him, he came out on Collision to do commentary, only for Moxley and the Deathriders to beat the living daylights out of him and leave him for dead. Actually it was kinda funny how they just came out of the crowd and killed him

I don’t know the last time anyone put out a truly remarkable 4-way, in WWE the one with Samoa Joe @ Great Balls Of Fire was great
:yk3

That absolute vermin got AJ Styles on the payroll, he’d know a thing or two about how to put out these matches, they got Bobby Roode, Abyss, I don’t feel Unreal gives us the true reflection of how matches are produced, I am pretty sure H veto’s a lot of these guys.

And while I rate Jey Uso, I blame the fans for his push, they went full re!ard in Birmingham bro, in the dark segment I want to see a match or a promo but TKO extorted us all with the 10mins of YEETing ffs which the fans kept begging, my mate was enjoying it too much wanted to slap him, it can’t be denied he is so over, bitter pill of this era I’d say. We could easily have had even a 5 min tag match involving Punk / Roman & Seth / Bronson Reed, Vince always made sure to send a crowd home happy the proper way after a live RAW or SD, look at all the hidden gems on the Vault right now, screw these guys man, I seen Punk now so never again.

Have you noticed there are people hating on Sami on social media? They are all butt hurt paid zio accounts….

Have you played the game yet, I still haven’t lol that barbed wire exploding match should be good at least

Have to say despite the flak he gets now, Rock and also Undertaker had some of the biggest hearts in terms of putting over talent when they were still at their peak.

Most of the other stars you can put in that all time great category had really big egos putting somebody over
