The Wrestling Discussion Thread

I haven't watched the product in months, but thought I tune in last night because it is Wrestlemania.

It's safe to say that was a massive mistake. I can't believe just how quickly TKO and Triple H destroyed the product. It didn't even feel like I was watching Mania. It felt like an episode of Heat or Velocity, not even Raw or Smackdown. That's how bad it was. None of the matches were anything worth remembering. They were some horrible Wrestlemania events under Vince too, such as Wrestlemania 9, 13 and 27, but at least they still felt like big events. The current product feels so cheap in comparison.

And what the hell was the point of Randy punt kicking Cody after losing the match? Did Triple fraud not have the balls to pull the trigger and have Orton win the title? Is he scared of Randy surpassing him in the world title reign count? And why the hell do we have Jelly Roll and Pat McAfee involved in the main event of Wrestlemania? Honestly F*** Triple H and TKO.

@shaz619 @BunnyRabbit @Suleiman Another jobber trying to come here and get some attention. I think someone needs to tell him what happened to his half brother when he came here and got slapped back to factory settings.

What did he say, I have that guy on block, because I don’t want God being upset with me for attacking someone with down syndrome

Besides Bianca’s pregnancy revelation which made my day (thank you Trips), best moment of Night 1 for me was the return of Paige, what a moment and one hell of a pop - bigger pop then anything the Road Dogg got
:yk She looked fantastic out there and in tremendous shape, I got goosebumps when she came face to face with Flair.

On that note, is this what people wanted with Charlotte ? For her to be a mid-carder? She always got criticised by fans & pundits for no justifiable reason when she was easily levels above every other woman in wrestling history, it’s like she’s so good you punish her for it like she’s not allowed to be in the spot she belongs. If there was a female equivalent of HBK, then it’s Charlotte, Miss’s Wrestlemania being booked like a jobber, shame on H & especially the pathetic fans.

And what was the point of Bliss & Flair thing if one of them didn’t turn on each other, or if one of then had a title and it turned into a program heading into a big event, that would have been a great way for Flair to return to the main-event picture which they are using now as a developmental experiment.

The opening match was so cold with idiot Youtuber’s insulting our sport and then those who are meant to be vets, botched their own finisher, great start to WM - 0/10

Drew / Fatu, great fight with excellent flow, just a shame this was their spot on a night they ought to have been in the ME. 7.5/10

Liv vs Vaquer - Trouble trouble that’s me, trouble trouble trouble - One of the greatest WM entrances ever - 10/10

Cody vs Orton - Ignoring the overbooking bs, I really enjoyed this match, it was an old school throwback to the RA era, after what was an underwhelming build, Orton/Cody pulled out every stop to make it a deeply psychological match, they teased a double turn, we got blood, Orton’s back was a big part of the match and his selling was incredible, I loved the pacing and flow of the match but it was let down by the overbooking which was H trying to be too clever. 8/10.

The fact that Cody retained, I am even more convinced now that the whole Pat deal was H’s idea really, he doesn’t want him to turn anytime soon and he battled with this and his hatred of Drew, realising there was no heat on Orton given the limited build, he parachuted Pat into the equation.

Everything they did on this show was reflective of how desperate and lost for ideas they are. Infact everything they have done for the past few months has been reflective of how morally and creatively bankrupt they are. Couldn't agree more... there have been some low-points but never have they sunk this low in every regard. It still makes me sick to see ads all over the ring mat, announce tables, ring corners.. They have even started putting ads on ladders and tables that wrestlers take out during the match.

They are making more money than they ever have and look at the garbage they are giving the fans. They have turned pro-wrestling into a joke they can market to kids and their mentally deranged basement-dewlling lifers. Any bum who is famous on TikTok or among teenagers can walk off the street and have a match and we are supposed to be over the moon for the huge impressions it generates on their social media channels.

Punk v Roman and Brock v Oba Femi are the only two things on this show that seem interesting enough to watch. Rest is just crap that doesn't feel like it has any place on a WrestleMania card

He’s been exposed as another Indian user on here already. Hint: it’s someone who has multiple split personality disorder and pretends to be a Pakistani

He was caught in a reply to @mominsaigol with the exact same cadence, post content etc as bhaijaan last year word for word and all of his views and opinions are in line with someone dead set to just cause strife and arguments with Pakistanis by taking contrarian opinions for the sake of it. When reminded of this, he has posts reported and deleted. Mods don’t want to ban him though

This spy level dhurandar game is something that’s consumed him too much, best to just ignore him. However it’s been 2 years and sadly he’s duped many.

My heart wants to make dua for him to be guided by Allah every time I see him post.
I'm glad you clarified because I guess I was one of the duped ones too. Really sad and pathetic if that is really the case. Feel sorry for OP more than anyone else that someone has to go to such lengths for whatever reason. But makes things alot easier for me going forward and saves alot of time so thanks for that.

Man it was such a forgettable match for me and I can see Gunther was seething throughout, it took Seth more than half the time just getting warmed up, his work was extremely sloppy and was so stiff on top of it all, every Wrestlemania they manage to screw Gunther in some way. The final 1/4 got better and they ruined it with the overbooking, one of if not Seth’s worst performances on a big show.

After the push Gunther was getting, he should have been a huge focal point for WM, instead he became just a guy who had to work with an unprofessional trash can not on his level.

Match was really good but the overbooked finish completely ruined it. To be honest, it felt more like a scene out of a screwball comedy the way it was executed. What's funny is that they tried to make us think that it would be a straight match by killing Pat before the start of the match. So the swerve of him coming out at the end just proved to me what a bunch of a-holes they are, who are also bereft of any ideas.

You think Seth is still injured? Because he didn't look 100% to me. He was not going at full tilt and his timing was off on multiple occasions.

I still enjoyed the match because honestly Gunther can even get a good match out of a broomstick, so a low IQ wrestler like Rollins is not a challenge. It was nothing special but the only thing on this card resembling a wrestling match from start to finish for me.

As much as I hated the involvement of those two, I was so glad to see them get their bs out the way because then as you said we would be promised a clean match, every single fan should feel short changed after that, it’s deliberately sabotaging not just the talent but people who paid extortionate sums. Orton & Cody were telling the story which should have been told with words during the build, with their in-ring work, it was shaping up to be one of the best WM main-events in history, it’s just a conflict of interest letting Triple Douche have the final say, he 100% is responsible for everything at WM proves it

It’s hard to say, this was his first match after a while to & maybe the rust was there but because I don’t rate him at all, my issues with him compounded. The true GOATs never let rust impact them, Seth’s preparation for the match must have been quiet poor to, I couldn’t see anything obvious with him to suggest an issue, just an all round terrible modern worker and everything I hate about wrestling today. The highlight as you said was Gunther carrying his @ss

Both guys were incredibly motivated. I was so impressed with Randy... his facial expressions and body language as a heel were so believable. When the vein on the temple is popping you know he's all in. Cody's work as a babyface was fantastic... above all they had amazing chemistry. Which made what they did in the finish all the more infuriating. And the thing is I was fully expecting something. I was mentally prepared. But that still didn't make me any less p*ssed off seeing it unfold in real time

I don’t care if its Seth Rowwwlings, the way Gunther was getting pushed, this should have been a squash match.

@RedwoodOriginal How about Seth trying to brawl at the start, I’ve seen kids with greater intensity then that 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 That made me laugh, even Becky can fight

Man I can’t wait for the documentary of his overcoming yet another injury, his middle class suburban life just got more edgy

I was watching it & thinking this is the kind of match me & you love and want from this era and finally they are giving it to us in the ME at least, H tried to recreate the night of Cody winning the title but this was his directors cut.

This would have been right up there with the greatest matching driving the entire story & feud through the ring action itself & building off their entire history during legacy - I was seeing that unfold before my eyes

If I became the booker the first thing I would do is book a squash match between Becky Lynch and Seth Rollins. No prizes for guessing who's getting squashed.

I know alot of people are against intergender wrestling - and I am one of them... but I think we all will gladly make an exception for this one.

Let's change gender norms.

What was up with Seth’s eyes during the entrance, what did you guys take from that, I was like is he blind now? Is that gimmick? Like The Vision never happened bro, but oh wait!!!

Are we sure Russo is working for TK?

Seth should have come out in a blindfold

That would have been more apropos

Finally, the best piece of business at WM, that was everything it needed to be & Oba looked fantastic.

If that is it, thank you Lesnar; the most selfless top attraction in wrestling history, he finally broke Kayfabe after 2 decades. He loved this business as much as any other legend

Such a surreal sight to see, I have no words

Lesnar just retired?

Didn’t see that coming!

I think at the very least, his final WM appearance because there were rumours he’d face Gunther in his last match at SummerSlam.

If this is it, am just shocked, would be the most Brock Lesnar thing to do given how private he is.

He finally broke Kayfabe, the business I knew truly is over

What a humble way to go for arguably the greatest in ring performer in wrestling history!

We need the Lesnar DP to make a return!

And he leaves making a new star, left the business in a better place then he found it.

He wasn’t even a wrestling fan before WWE and this is how he leaves in the most selfless and giving way

That was so weird but heartwarming.

His Sajda in the ring too. Mad respect for the business!

I think the idea by Lesnar and WWE is right by putting Oba over before he goes, but I don’t think 1 quash match does justice to the booking. This shout have been a 3 match feud where Oba finally puts Lesnar down or maybe puts Lesnar down 3 times for him to realise that he no longer is the beast anymore.

WWE got the Undertaker downfall booking right with Roman Reigns being the one to put him out. The Lesnar/Femi story is rushed

Lesnar retired in the most Lesnar way - without saying a word. I still think that he might come back for one last match, but if this really is his retirement then it couldn't have been any more perfect because of the story it tells. Lesnar finally ran into someone who was bigger, faster, younger and hungrier than he was, and realized that he was no longer the king of jungle that he used to be.

Match was awesome and full credit to Lesnar for making a star out of Oba Femi. You never see Lesnar sell like this for anyone, and the last time he was thrashed like this was the Goldberg match; so you know full well that Lesnar wanted it to happen this way.

Nothing says you're not winning the match quite like your entrance taking place during a commercial break on freaking WrestleMania☠️

Decently entertaining car crash match. The kind of thing that was missing from WrestleMania in recent years. Rusev being in this match with five high-flyers was really funny, but he took some good bumps to justify his inclusion.

Brock Lesnar's final match. Another OG retires. Only Randy Orton is left now.

It was a pleasure watching Brock. Journey that began in 2002 final ended after 24 years.

Brock losing to Oba Femi is very believable and well-deserved as Oba is a big guy (bigger than Brock).

Cena losing to Gunther was a farce. Particularly with that lame submission move.

Only Randy Orton is left now.

Haven’t watched rest of today but Punk vs Roman looks insane! 🔥 🔥

Shades of Punk 2011-2013 finally, none of those niceties he showed Cody last SD

Punk and Roman, Brock and Oba- only matches that felt like WM that I caught glimpses of

I am going to watch night 2 in entirety.
Man without Lesnar, there won't be any cutting edge in WWE. He really was an anomaly.
To think, Cena, AJ, Lesnar all retired within a span for 4 months is incredibly sad.
It's actually good that they gave Lesnar's retirement to Oba instead of Gunther cause they haven't done anything with Gunther instead of making him a gimmick of career ender (with no story included)

Man the earlier nose gets the boot, the better.
Seems like he's driven Cena, AJ and Lesnar into retirements earlier than they wanted cause they were like, no way are we going to be a part of this titanic.
Mania 40 mainevent would have been just as poorly booked as Randy Cody too if Dwayne hadn't been involved and that would have ruined the legendary end of Roman's title run into a nonsense finish.
He's so creatively bankrupt.

So legendary Brock Lesnar bows out , what a stellar career, iconic he got Chokeslam and some kind of last ride in that defeat to OBaFemi, Lesnar's aura in WWE was unparallel.

Roman v Oba end of the year will be great. Would be happy for WHC belt to surpass WWE belt in prestige as it had for much of the 2000s. Should bring the big gold back! This belt sadly remains of Seth’s kachra run as he was first to hold it. Right now wwe belt is being pushed as triple h living reign of terror through Cody and guys like Pat McAfee touching that belt with his najis hands.

We want the original WCW big gold with the red bolts back!! Roman is worthy to hold that belt that titans like Batista, Undertaker, Goldberg, Shawn, Cena and ofc Punk held

Btw Brock retiring makes him squashing Cena even dumber of a booking move. Killed that retirement tour.

Kutta H doing his best to make sure Cena and now Randy have the worst ending to their career so history remembers as this dog as the one with the best character arc in WWE. No amount of unreal will do that.

Brock is a beast though and went out on his own terms. I’m glad tha him and Austin were “selfish” and protected their characters from jobbing needlessly and only when they thought it to be a good idea.

Man the IC ladder match could have been better if the spots flowed with the match. The multi men matches have rarely worked in WWE since Pat Patterson passed away. He's probably the most missed personality backstage when it comes to putting matches together.

Lesnar worked and lost when the company wanted him to. He lost to McIntyre , Rollins, reigns , Cody Rhodes in the recent times.

He never was that bothered about whether he wins or loses.

I think JD should have been given the title here. The guy has bumped endlessly to make his opponents look gold for years. Would have been good if he'd gotten some gold here.

I think it was fine. They had to protect Rey from taking too many bumps. Which perhaps made it a start-stop-start affair.

Rusev provided a nice foil for having Rey. He could take the punishment whereas the other hi flyers provided the oomph.

The Mexican destroyers and the OG cutter were really worked out well.

never ever seen Lesnar emotional. One of a Kind, Once in a Century

BEAST!
Marks who say Lesnar doesn't care about business think a wrestler has to keep praising how good prowrestling is in interviews and cry during every promo and no sell finishers all the time to prove a wrestler cares about the business.

Far too early for him to be getting a title. Penta needed to hold on to the title here. It's clear that the E is looking at making Penta and upper mid carder in the future.

They shouldn't have announced Demon in advance. Takes away all the surprise that should be there. Demon should be the hidden boss that could show up without announcing and wreak hell. Also agrees with Finn him needing to bring Demon to win a match makes Finn Balor look quite weak.

Somehow saner minds prevailed on night 2.

Hopefully for the next WrestleMania , they spend less time on entrances and give more time for the matches.

Day 1 was (in order to not be censored) very bad.

Not just the ending of the Rhodes - Orton match , the match in itself was quite well done. But the whole part timers/youtubers fiasco. Way too overdone.

Not a fan of the opening match being given to ishowspeed. Absolutely non sense.

The liv Morgan Stephanie vaquer match was tragically cut short. Vaquer deserved better.

The women's tag team matches was sloppy. Nothing worse than handing a title to a returning wrestler.

Everything that could probably be wrong in a PPV happened on WrestleMania day 1.

They needed to announce the demon because they had to sell tickets. I don't think Finn wants to do the demon role too much too. It's apparently too much of a pain to apply the makeup on a regular basis.

I don't think it's retirement just yet for Brock. SummerSlam is in his hometown. Expect him to make one more appearance atleast.

Shouldn't be against Oba Femi , but maybe a match against bron breaker

Punk has had some iconic feuds ever since his return to wrestling.

Mjf , Rollins , McIntyre and now Reigns.

They hopefully might pivot around to Punk vs Randy next. It's time for him to do his grand tour of rivalries.

Pity that Kevin Owens got injured , him vs punk would be money.

Balor Dom overdelivered. Probably the second best match after Punk-Roman of Mania.
Could have done without the Night 1 of Mania, with RandyCody being placed together all on the same night. Night 2 actually felt like a PPV.

Balor needs to be build up for a top title run.

Punk Rollins got destroyed by being overstretched.

The last spot with Dom and the chair was brutal to watch.

I think jade vs Ripley match was extremely well done too. As well as the aj vs Becky match.

Nah Finn also thinks him resorting to Demon for regular matches just makes Finn the character too weak which is why he is hesitant to do too much of Demon.
They need to unleash the NXT version of Balor. With submission moves, 1916 etc

JD been in WWE for 5-6 years. About time he gets recognized.

I think part of the reason why they pivoted from punk to Roman is that Roman was willing to be full time atleast till SummerSlam.

Punk probably needed the break. He's been carrying the company for the last year.

Rollins was injured. McIntyre sidelined. Reigns a part timer. Cody well he has his limits.

Punk carried the company for more than a year.

They need to replace Michael Cole. His commentating was awful. Ranallo or Graves should take over the lead color commentator.

Fantastic Mainevent. They can even run it back again down the line. The WHC looks real prestigious with that mainevent.

last year, we had Gunther and Jey fighting over it.

He is a mid carder. He's not going to be the one to get to an upper mid. Sami Zayn is an upper mid. Mcdonoaugh won't get into that level.
mid carders can get some time in the limelight as well. 6 man ladder match for IC title was a perfect opportunity to give him some even if for a short 1-2 month reign.
