The Zulqarnain Haider Story

Whataver happened to the "will expose the fixers in 4 or 5 days"....

His 4/5 days are not coming any time sooner. He wants to get things done for him before he can expose anything if he has something to expose.

he has given a two day time period now =D seriously what is going on here =D

Anyone else think his trying to drag this on as soon as he gets the visa. Then bang he can stay here and he won't usher another word.

I am so disappointed in this guy. I truly believed he was being threatened and had reasons to do what he did.. but now his inaction is truly betraying. I think he is a fraud. Since day 1, it has all been a fraud.

Just the fact, he has not "explored" anything, it has exposed him as a fraud big time.

his best bet would be to 'sell' his story to one of the tabloids, make a few hundred thousand pounds, and do some interviews and milk this thing for all its got.

I don;'t think he has anything.

Amid worries regarding threats to his family based in Lahore, Zulqarnain was dealt another dent on Monday when his lawyer, Natasha Malik, withdrew her support for the troubled wicket-keeper.

Zulqarnain, who decided to leave the national team in United Arab Emirates after taking Pakistan to an unlikely victory in the fourth One Day International against South Africa, is due to unveil the names of the players and officials in the country’s domestic cricket who are involved in the menace of match and spot fixing.

Earlier, Ansar Barni Welfare Trust also decided against taking case of Zulqarnain Haider.

Natasha Malik told British media the reasons why she decided to quit Zoly’s War on Match and Spot Fixing. She said that the wicket-keeper is adamant to numerous offers made by the Pakistan Cricket Board therefore she had to change her mind and give up her weight behind him.

What offers???????

Is PCB offereing Zoni to stay quiet????

I honesty believe PCB has shut him up with some sort of offers because one more fixing story could get Pakistan banned from international game.

Update

In yet another twist to the drama surrounding Zulqarnain Haider, his solicitors announced on Monday to withdraw as the runaway Pakistan player’s instructed legal representatives.
Barrister Natasha Malik of Halifax-based ADL Solicitors told ‘The News’ in a statement: “We are unable to cite any reasons for our withdrawal bar that we are without instructions from Mr Haider. Without such we are not in position to proceed any further and we have no option but to withdraw.”
Pakistan cricket was rocked when the wicketkeeper fled from the team hotel in Dubai and turned up at Heathrow airport Haider on the day of the fifth and final one-day match on November 8 to claim asylum. He told the immigration officers he feared for his life after he was approached by a cricket betting syndicate member to play foul or else face repercussions. Haider says he refused to help fix a one-day game against South Africa in Dubai.
Ms Malik, who had agreed to provide free legal aid to the asylum-seeking player, refused to answer questions related to any additional reasons why her firm decided to stand down from representing the refugee Pakistani player but the player’s non-serious and erratic behaviour in the major reason behind the decision of the legal firm.
‘The News’ is aware that the cricketer had been asked to meet his lawyers twice to prepare his case in a professional way but Haider failed to turn up for meetings on both occasions, preferring to stay in London.
Haider grew apart from his legal attorney after they asked him hard questions about his claim in order for them to prepare his defence but the player didn’t like the questioning and even wondered why his legal team asked questions of him, instead of believing simply in what he was saying.
The legal team headed by Ms Malik had signed an agreement with Haider that he will abide by the rules of engagement and not open his mouth to media here and there but this professional restriction didn’t go down well with him apparently and he told the world through a facebook message a few days ago that he was thinking of changing his lawyers soon.
He wants to speak to media all the time and loved the limelight that he enjoyed after he escaped to Britain, said a legal source.
The source said on condition of anonymity: “Haider needs flashes and cameras around him. He believes in those bling lawyers who get pictures taken with him for their own cheap publicity. He wants his lawyer to tell fairytale stories and wants quick results which is not possible. There are lawyers who manufacture stories but the professionals will not do such a thing.”
Zulqarnain’s case doesn’t fit the usual criteria of asylum seekers and the conditions which must be ticked for a successful application. Western countries rely on Article 1 of the 1951 Refugee Convention which clearly defines a refugee as “a person who is outside his or her country of nationality or habitual residence; has a well-founded fear of persecution because of his or her race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion; and is unable or unwilling to avail himself or herself of the protection of that country, or to return there, for fear of persecution.”
The former wicketkeeper had also threatened to disclose all the secrets pertaining to spot-fixing but has yet to say anything.
Since arriving in London from Halifax over 10 days ago, Zulqarnain Haider has said his family had received threatening calls and letters from abroad. His family, who previously wanted Haider to return to Pakistan, have recently said that they are facing threats. His wife has told media that she wanted to join her husband in London.

Also, there will be a hearing on the 10th and Zoni will tell his account to a Home Office hearing.

That pretty much sums it up.

He apparently recieved death threats and threats to his family yet he thinks its all a big wind-up and a joke ?

Yeah right.. that has to be the edited version. Probably more like

"wil alwyz luv my cntry bt agnst bd mn wu sel tha cntry"

If I ever read as many hateful things about me, I'd have serious confidence issues!

But I can't find a way to justify anything he's done..

if he could have stayed there in UAE and played the last ODI
he would have most definitely played the test matches
and as everybody can see they are still not selecting kamran akmal so he might have had his place for nz tour and beyond..who knows

all the talk of him being insecure of his place in the side..made him run away and what have u

had he stayed what would have happened..ifs and buts

unless otherwise there is something that i don't know :P

Maybe the best thing for people is to wait and see - rather than make hateful remarks.....

Last post was over 1 week ago so just wanted to know if anyone has any latest newz on this?

Has he something to tell or does he just want to settle down in UK with his family?

Saw some ticker in news channel that he said someone give me bad messages sitting in front of me and that he does't know who else is involved in match fixing.

lol, what a joke.

I remember yesterday they were showing something about him on sky sports news, but I couldn't hear cus it was on the TV in the school canteen.

His BS is starting to smell really bad now.

has he opened a restaurant in Tooting yet?

Yeah, I really hope that his silence just continues. I don't even care anymore if he's just chasing asylum or w/e but I don't want to see reports of him being kept quite due to pressure or threats or something. This is all just one big headache.
I still believe he was threatened by some fodder bookie, over-reacted and now is unsure whether to echo some rumours we've all heard (perhaps with a bit of his own spice added) or just keep a lid on it and keep hopes of playing for Pakistan alive.

Well I hope UK puts a condition on his asylum. He will only get it if he can prove he had a solid reason to run.

If he cannot, send him back to Pakistan and ban him for life from playing FC cricket

So his supporters beginning to see yet what a small bunch of us have been shouting from the first day this cartoon ran away from his hotel in search of a different colored passport?

^ maula jutt - brother - what happened of your theory on Zoni?? :(

And your contributions are missed in the creative writing thread too!

Looks really worried for his own and his family's safety in that pic.

And yet you still failed to judge that on my part...

ITS A CONSPIRACY!!

*puts on tin-foil hat*

It probably takes a lot of time and effort on the part of the poor guy to dress up and set his hair in order to have these pics taken. We shouldn't make fun of him. Buri baat.

Where are all thoes who were calling him Zoni the Hero and were defaming all the players...they should at least make a new thread and apologise now.
