Tour Match: England A v Pakistan [Updates & Post Match]

This is getting ridiculous now.

89 run partnership for the last wicket!

557-9

To be fair, Broad was originally a batsman even if his FC stats don't suggest it.

this is just taking the mick, We cant get out a number 11 batsman whoose not even a proven performer. I know its a flat pitch but still we Have international bowlers.

Broad on 51 Not out and has faced 97 balls

Is it bad bowling? Bad fielding? good batting? or Just the batsman being fortunate with edges going wide of slip fielders etc.

Broad 50 and 100 run partnership for the last wicket.

Credit to Eng A, they've done pretty well.

I expect Pak to bat out the remaining days now though

Is this Broad chap the son of that infamous scumbag who is now an ICC Match referee?

Anyway....yes this is getting ridiculous but it sort of makes a mockery of Key's comments before the game that they wanted to win in order to psychologically damage us like they did to SL. They clearly have no intention of winning this match at all.

But anyway..........we can bat out the last day and the rest of today so our bowlers will get enough rest.

He's tall.

England A are deliberately batting for as long as possible to deny our batsman valuable time at the crease, so that they may flop in the opening test.

He can change the quote if he wants. It wont change what i think of that 'infamous scumbag' (and I am being mild here)

Is this Broad guy a good bowler?

We really should bat out the two days now. A real pity Afridi isn't playing. He could have delivered some good ol' phainty to England A.

we will have about 5 sessions. Plenty of time. Relax.

To be honest Hash I have no opinion on Chris Broad at all. I'm just fed up with all the rubbish in other threads.

If you don't like what you're reading, why do you post? Just run over to an English forum or something.

I'd say so, he's certainly the best English bowler in that age group.

He's a lot better at using his height than say.. Tremlett and he's pacy enough.

Oh I like the cricket posts.. just not the other ones.

Yar the thing is its not england's fault.
We are incapable of getting the batsman out. Whatever the sort of wicket it is ?

Just answer one question: How would these batsmen have fared against Warne, Kumble, Murali ?
We keep hyping up kaneria, where the fact is that he starts taking wickets once he scores a century.... i-e after conceding hunderd runs, and when the batsman start taking risks.

Remember this is only a warm up game, all our bowlers have had a bowl and insh'allah our batsman can bat for the next 2 days. It'll be a good test for them against Hoggard and Broad.
I hope our batsman dont get out to stupid shots on a flat deck like this.

So is Tremlett not part of England's plans? He's certainly better than all that other tripe - Plunkett, Ali and co.

Surely, if Read does well with the gloves, he'll play ahead of Jones.

Is this Read's highest FC score?

Plunkett isn't tripe.

Tremlett's got lots of potential but he doesn't really seem to use his natural gifts. He seems to put the ball on a length rather than show any aggression and he's very injury prone.

Decleration.

Now our batsman can bat for two days.

595-9d

He bowled decenty in the Test series but was pathetic in the ODI's.

No.. 160 is his highest so far.

He won't play ahead of Jones against Pakistan as Fletcher won't want to make any more changes than necessary but I think he's just played himself onto the plane to Aussie land.

Billy said:
150 for Read

congratulations to read for his 150, he has appeared to have batted very well against our bowlers.

The question now is who do you think the selectors will go with Jones or Read for the Lords test?????

As Pk supporter I hope they go with Jones as he wont score much and he'll give our batsman many lives ;-)

I dont get why a lot of you are criticising Eng A. Of course they are gonna want to stay out there for as long as possible !! duh!

Whereas he was poor in his test in India but good in the ODI's.

The lad's just turned 21 and played a handful of games, it's too soon to write him off when he's already shown a decent amount of potential.

so annoying that theres no commentary on this match.

kaneria seems to have been taken apart by key and bell
6.0 0 33 0 5.50

however still early days, he may end up finishing with figures 5for 150 at this rate, i hope not though

Look at my prediction on Danesh 5for 150 a few days ago

he ended up with 4 for 158. Why does he always end up doing rubbish???? You dont often see murali or warne with figures like this

Sid100 said:
please can you elaborate bro, I don't know much about him

It is a travesty that he was given the ICC Ref position in the first place. He was one of the biggest disgraces to sportsmanship ever to walk the face of the earth. He once even refused to walk when the umpire gave him out and had to be convinced to go by Graham Gooch.

Now as a referee he just sums up the bias and double standards.......Asian teams always seem to get fined but the goras get the mimimum punishments (eg Lee after the Dar incident).

Danish is not in the same class as Warne.

Plenty of practice for our bowlers.

Code:
Bowling O M R W Econ
Mohammad Asif 23 3 73 0 3.17 (4nb, 1w)
Mohammad Sami 25 3 97 2 3.88 (5nb)
Umar Gul 33 5 92 2 2.78
Abdul Razzaq 26 9 65 1 2.50 (1nb)
Danish Kaneria 48 7 158 4 3.29
Imran Farhat 17 2 55 0 3.23
Salman Butt 1 0 4 0 4.00

and they're quite within their right to do so. Read and Broad have done a superb job. Now the bowlers have to roll over the Pakistanis twice. If Read isn't in the squad for the first test now then all the selectors should be replaced.

Bresnan opening the bowling. Strange option....

why are they opening with bresnan???, maybe broad needs some rest after his 50

Danish will do very well in the test series and shut his doubters up once and for all.

Don't get your hopes up. The selectors value continuity at time like this.

I don't even know why he's in the team to be honest.

CRICKET: Matthew Hoggard has stitches in his hand after accident in warm-up before day three of England A v Pakistan.

Whoops.

Broad and Bresnan to share the new ball.

Butt has hit a 4 already, 4-0 (1.1)

the gloss of the series is becoming less with more and more injuries.

recently Hoggard and maybe Kamran Akmal(but insh'allah he'll make the 1st test)

No confirmation on how serious the injury is yet.

5-0 (3.0)

Sorry guys - missed most of this game - score summary pls ?

So he has about 5days to recover, even if he does play his injury will always be at the back of his mind so he may not play to his best. we'll wait and see what they say about his inury

On hindsight Rob and Billy it seems like it was a silly move for the selectors to play Hoggard in this match considering england bowling department is looking depleted without freddie and jones What u think?

No, he'd hardly played since the last test against Sri Lanka and needed a good work out. You can't plan for fat Tim Bresnans standing on people's hands.

from BBC

Hoggard injury scare for England
The England selectors are waiting for a fitness report on Matthew Hoggard after he needed stitches in his right hand.
Team-mate Tim Bresnan trod on Hoggard's right hand during an exercise session on the third morning of the England A v Pakistan match at Canterbury.

He was cut on the palm below his thumb and taken to to hospital for treatment.

Hoggard later returned to the ground with his hand bandaged and is not expected to bowl during the remainder of the game.

England take on Pakistan in the first Test of a four-match series at Lord's on Thursday and losing Hoggard would be a major blow.

He passed 200 Test wickets during the recent series against Sri Lanka and is currently fifth in the LG ICC Test bowler rankings, with only Muttiah Muralitharan, Makhaya Ntini, Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath ahead of him.

So Bresnans the culprit

What was Bresnan doing playing in this warm up game in the first place???? is he that good??
