Gven that Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq, Younis Khan and Misbah-ul-Haq are certainities to play against the West Indes.

Who would be your other 2 picks in the top 6?

I'd like to go out on a limb and say that PP'ers might want Shehzad and Babar to fill those spots.

Ahmed Shehzad and Babar Azam,, i'd leave Shafique out, nd play sarfaraz at 5 and Misbah at 6, followed by Shadab,Amir Yasir,Hasan,Asghar

Shehzad and Babar.

Babar and Shadab (Sarfraz at 6). :usman

Ideally this but the top-order will then get unsettled. And besides, I don't see Misbah taking this risk even if his life depended on it.

So will have to wait for Misbah to leave first.

Yeah, those were my picks but I think it's very unlikely they'd go with that lineup.

Will probably be Shehzad and Babar.

its a no brainer:

+ shehzad (unfortunately)
+ sallahuddin

and possibly:
+ babar
- shafiq (just to help develop sallahuddin to ease his entry for when misbah goes)

heres some stats. of the big four regulars over the past two years in tests, averages are:

younis 52
ali 60
misbah 38
shafiq 42

so given that the captain cant be dropped, if any of them is rested, it has to be shafiq.

of the youngsters with not enough test stats, only stat to look at is fc:

usman 47@45 - 5,912 runs
babar 37@56 - 1,860 runs
shan-dads-on-the-board 34@44 - 5,050 runs
ahmed 41@60 - 4,513 runs

I know im alone in this, but I'm very suspect of Babar in tests too, id rather have Usman in ahead of him any day of the week for tests. its far too early to tell if I'm wrong or not, but a test average of 27 over 12 innings for Babar isnt impressive - although clearly most of those innings were amongst some of the toughest tours to play.

Probably will be Shehzad and Babar.

Though if they decide to go for 5 man bowling attack then it might be Babar and Shadab.

Just Ahmed Shehzad. Play Sarfraz at 6 and Shafiq at 3. Shadab at 7 who has a first class century. Would ideally have Babar Azam or Salahuddin instead of Shehzad but we'd have no opener

I'm not disagreeing with your anlaysis, but Asad is Misbah's baby and Babar is Mickey's baby, barring injury they are both playing

Play 5 bowlers & Babar opening with Azhar.

Sarfu, Shadab, Amir, Yasir, Wahab, Hasan/Ashghar from 6 to 11 is more than enough depth, unless top order flops.

Waise, Ahmed or Shan puttars are not going to burn the WI attack ........

Shafiq does not even deserve a place in the team.

I think you meant Misbah. He is the one who has underperformed from this bunch.

I hope Misbah gets a decent farewell and quickly makes room for the fresh crop and maybe Younis plays another year.

I totally agree. to be honest, its the first realistic chance in a while of taking a test series, and misbahs last, so I have no doubt they will genuinely do their very best to secure a series win - so I can understand how they would rather not take risks that might backfire. but after this, I don't think theres an excuse.

You are mistaken, there is actually only 1 open slot..

Babar Azam is now a permanent member of the squad and the lineup

Shehzad and Azhar as openers. Babar, Younis, Shafiq and Misbah.

But also feel Salahuddin deserves a game. As for Shan Masood, I just hope he's worked on his seriously flawed technique that was badly exposed in England.
