Kohli recently broke SRT's record of highest ranking points received by an Indian batsman in ODI's. He is in such fine form that him bettering all of SRT's records, including 49 ODI tons, seems inevitable.

However i feel there are two Tendulkar records that Kohli will find REALLY hard to better -

- Record of 9 ODI tons in a calender year (1998)

- Record of most man of the match awards in ODIs (62)

Kohli currently has 28 man of the match awards, and in 2017 he scored 6 ODI tons in a calender year.

He has a chance of getting 9 ODI tons this year with 5 ODIs in England, Asia Cup and 5 home ODIs against WI. It looks hard, but given the freakish form he is in, i would not put anything past him!

9 ODI ton record is easy, 2018 will likely be the year. MOM award is going to be a hard one to beat.

I hope he breaks every single records. Most number of runs are unbreakable as well.

He won't break Sachin's total number of games played as well

he may even find it difficult to break the total ODI runs record. India is playing less and less ODIs overall. Indian played 10 or 11 ODIs last year. I feel by the time he is 35+ India might also play less less (compared to what it was during Sachin era) Intl matches and shift more towards extended IPL

Will break most man of match award easily. Record of 9 centuries in a year could happen if BCCI arranges a series with SL and WI in a calendar year. Those two series alone will result in 5-6 tons.

May find it difficult against them as he has the worst average against those two teams. May be against SA, BD and Aus..

Well then this could be the year. Already has 3. Will play 5 ODIs in England. An Asia Cup in India (probably) and WI is coming here for 5 ODIs before the Australia test series. So has to score 7 hundreds in about 15 games. :ashwin

He might skip WI series like he skipped the one against SL.

HOw many centuries did Kohli make in SA against Saffers in this series? Do you have any count.

Common man ... Kohli can score vs any opponent, currently he is getting into peak of his form, if he continues like this may score 10 ODI tons in a calendar year :shh

9 hundreds in a year is possible for Kohli , he already has three in a series against SA .

MOM is tough , not likely.

SL? Rohit will probably hit the first ODI triple century!

He will easily break most hundreds in an year record.

Getting 62 MoM is a little difficult because he may miss out on some due to other match winners in his team.

There are 10 months left in 2018, Kohli already has 3 centuries.

You're honestly sitting there and telling us Kohli will find it hard to get 7 more centuries in 10 more months? come on brah.

Virat Kohli will break Sachin's 9 centuries in a year record. He is well on his way this year unless he suffers a rare form slump. The MOM though will be difficult. India has lots of other match winners as well now and the awards are shared around. India in the 90's were Sachin or bust, so most of the times he scored runs, he ended up with MOM awards. It will be difficult for Kohli as he needs to compete with others in the team, including bowlers.

He will play a MAXIMUM of 15 ODIs or something this year according to current FTP. He will have to get a ton every alternate game to break that record.

Max ODI tons in a year is difficult. Those were the years(1996-1999) when we used to play something like 40 ODI's a year. Now i don't think we play as many ODI's with more T20I's, IPL and us playing more tests a year.
