Pro-Khalistan extremists disrupt screening of "Emergency" in Harrow cinema

A group of pro-Khalistan extremists stormed a cinema in the London town of Harrow and attempted to stop the screening of the Kangana Ranaut starrer film "Emergency," the social movement of British Hindus and Indians, Insight UK, stated on Monday.

Taking to X, UK Insights posted a video where it showed the extremists shouting pro-Khalistani slogans during the screening of the film, which was centred around India's 1975 emergency period.

"Pro-Khalistan extremists storm Harrow cinema and attempt to stop the screening of "Emergency"," the movement stated.

Notably, in 2023, the Indian High Commission in London faced a violent attack by Khalistani supporters who were attempting to further the cause of Khalistan, advocating for the secession of the state of Punjab from India, as alleged by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

According to the NIA, the attacks in London were perpetrated in retaliation to the action taken by Punjab police against Amritpal Singh, Chief of Waris Punjab De, with the objective of influencing the crackdown on the outfit and its leader.

Meanwhile, Emergency, which was released on January 17, 2025, revolves around the period of emergency declared by Indira Gandhi for 21 months from 1975 to 1977, a controversial and transformative chapter in Indian political history.

Directed by Kangana herself, the film explores the political turmoil and societal impacts of the emergency, with Kangana playing the role of Indira Gandhi. The film also stars Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, and the late Satish Kaushik. (ANI)

London used to be a great city once. Now it is a proper hell hole.

I used to live in Zone 2 until Covid and then moved to country side. It is almost impossible to go to London over the weekends due to protests, knife attacks and phone snatching.

These Khalistani clowns should come and protest in India if they have guts. They have already destroyed India's image in Canada and now doing the same in Britain.

Depends what part of London you go to. As for moving to the countryside, I can understand the attraction, but a lot of the white flight from London is to escape the curry munchers, not sure how thrilled they would be if they followed them there.

Brothers why is this thread titled pro Khalistan This wasn't my title not the title of the original article from msn or TOI which said UK Sikhs.

It's unfair to label them as pro Khalistan. Please revert back to the original title so the thread participants can decide for themselves if they are khalistani or not. Not every Sikh is a khalistani

More than that, most white people are fleeing London due to Islamization of the city courtesy to the Mayor of London. You must know it as he is one of your kind.

Why are these Khalistani's protesting against the movie for showing the truth about Indira Gandhi?

I thought they were against Mrs Gandhi after operation Black thunder and even assassinated her. I am so confused...the world is so weird. They should be learning history rather than destroying a cinema hall in Harrow London..LOL.

Kangana made this film with the government's budget. Clear propaganda
How can it be a propaganda when it is based on a true story? Emergency was one of the darkest chapter in Indian history and it did happen. I keep hearing movies like Kashmir files, Kerala files, the accidental prime minister or emergency etc are propaganda. Why? Is it because the truth is too much for people to bear?

India or Indians don't want to watch films like Mughal e Azam anymore glorifying tyrants. This is new India...ab yehi movie banenge.

It’s important to mention it because otherwise it portrays a poor image of the Sikh community who are generally not like this. Khalistanis are an odd community who are dealing with emotional trauma from decades at the hands of Punjab police.

Another propaganda film which must suffer as much loss as possible. Any political movie starring Akshay Kumar, Kangana Ranaut, Anupam Kher, Ajay Devgun etc cannot be a serious film and is just a mimicry of historical events.
@Bhaijaan seems you have also made a baby face turn or heel turn for Indians. Speaking the Truth without mincing words.

Brother i have always been the same.

During me tenure at PP, i did however turn from being a neutral to left leaning individual to a right leaning one.

And also i stopped being a vegan.

I try to stay brutally individualist wrt to political commentary.

These labels are unhelpful.

We are labelling people Islamists, Hindutva, Khalistani to dehumanise them.

Let's see the underlying human. Understand their fears, their motivations, why they feel the need to do these things instead of putting a label on them.

If we do this then the world will be a better place with more understanding.

You are always part of a movement when you’re indulging in such criminal acts.

London has become well known for it's diversity, it is filled with all sorts from Europeans, Australians, Arabs, Chinese and plenty from the subcontinent as well. I agree that white people might have a problem with Muslims now, but they had a problem with Europeans before that hence Brexit. Before that they had a problem with black people causing all the crime. Before that they fled Wembley and Southall because of Indians moving in next door (there goes the neighbourhood), so don't think they will be overjoyed if you are following them to the countryside. The term curry munchers is not one of endearment is it?

This thread has no place for your racist rhetoric, like 'curry munchers.' If I were to reply in the same tone, you'd likely be the first one to complain and ask to stick to the topic. It seems that getting regularly challenged, owned and out-argued by me in these discussions is making you increasingly desperate. In the process, you're gradually forgetting how to engage in a proper debate. Also, sorry to say but your English is very poor and I don't understand half of the things you say. If its an attempt of being cryptic, that won't work with me either as I am a straight shooter and too dumb to understand half talks. Khul ke bolo kya kehna chahte ho? Darro mat.

No such thing as “Khalistani’s”

That you think curry munchers is racist rhetoric kind of makes my point for me does it not? Which race would refer to anyone in such terms I wonder? Could it be the same people who coined the dreaded Muslamics term perhaps?

I will answer you everything - curry munchers or musalmic term (not sure why you ashamed to call it out). However, that has no relevance to this discussion. Open a new thread if you want to discuss on this topic.

Ashamed? I'm the one who brought it up silly. If you are going to criticise London because it has the wrong type of people living there, then don't complain when some home truths are brought home to you. But anyway, if you can move away from criticising London, then by all means let's discuss the movie and the fallout from it.

Khalistani or these Sikhs are as brainless as they come. There needs to be a wall in indian punjab and they should be kept inside their state. Hell india should do world a favour and give them poonjab as khalistan if they all promise to go back from the west to their great country.

They will be bankrupt within a year and then india can control them even better.

It would be a master stroke.

You have hit the nail on the head there and have successfully called their bluff and it is precisely the reason why Khalistan movement has always been more bark than bite.

I have Sikh family bro , I know the issue ,problem is all the younger Sikhs have stopped listening completely to the older ones, esp in UK area where for years older people kept the calm.

Punjab is already in issue, it went from top 2 per capital GDP states in India in 2000 to freaking 18 or 19 now.

The younger ones are effin nashedi.

Disagree with all of this post apart from one line.

India should give them Punjab. Completely agree. Punjab must be free from India.

Tbf when you riddle bullets into a groups most holy place a large section will always hate any government led by similar ideology and government

They have all been brainwashed to hate for political gain, and recognizing this shouldn’t be a challenge for anyone.

Since they openly identify with their respective groups, how can one separate them when they themselves embrace those identities?

I am no fan of Indira Gandhi but what was her govt suppose to do when Bhindranwale and his gang was using the temple as launch pad for terrorism? They were given multiple warnings to vacate but they didnt. Then army did what they had to do.

And what have you been brainwashed to do? Spread love, is it?

In Saif Ali Khan thread you were very quick to blame hindutvas but when the culprit turned out to be a Bangladeshi muslim, you are missing from there

:uak

I didn't blame anyone in that thread.

I highlighted the dangerous narrative regarding “Love Jihad”, which was within the context of the poster I quoted.

Can you please quote me on that thread.

Thanks.

I’ve been conditioned to ‘dislike’ bigots, which is the opposite of promoting ‘love.’

I am not Gandhi where I should turn the other cheek if Hindutva decided to be bigots.

Don't repeat such mistake again in future. Atleast not under my watch...Thanks.

Also, why should I tag you there? You proactively came all swatting into that thread moment you heard a muslim star got attacked with your bigoted views about Love Jihad etc. Then when the attacker turned out to be muslim himself, you need invitation to comment there?

Okay.

It seems you’re unable to showcase your so called manly bravado in real situations, so you feel the need to fabricate scenarios to project a false sense of toughness.

Please don’t waste my time and the readers by making baseless accusations, failing to provide evidence, and then resorting to hypothetical scenarios. You don’t seem like a teenager going through puberty, so there’s no excuse for such behavior.

Not to be a stupid woman who caused her own death and left a definite hatred of her nation from an important minority. She should have waited, eventually hed of come out.

Why do you disagree, brother DV? India needs to prosper so we see less of them in the West. Sikhs love their khalistan so much, they deserve to have it. Thats beside the point that villages after villages in Punjab are deserting their own state.

i have lived in london for most of my life, i have been from every zone, from zone 1 to 5 in the past week across east and west London over the last week, at no point have i felt threatened by anyone or inconvenienced by any protests. is it as good as it used to be ten years ago, definitely not, but you are just speaking in hyperbole. if you live in fear you'll find something to be afraid of around every corner.

This lady needs to get her mental health checked, a waste of time for those who went there to heckle her film premiere

The BBC has commissioned Virdee, a new detective series based on AA Dhand’s best-selling crime novels and starring Sacha Dhawan (Doctor Who, The Great, Wolf), from newly formed production company Magical Society, headed up by Paul Trijbits (Jane Eyre, The Letter For The King, The Casual Vacancy).

The new six-part drama for BBC One and BBC iPlayer was announced today by Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, at the Edinburgh TV Festival’s Spotlight on the BBC session. The series introduces Detective Harry Virdee (Sacha Dhawan), a Bradford cop disowned by his Sikh family for marrying Saima, who is Muslim. Harry struggles with the abandonment, constantly attempting to reunite with his family. With his personal life in chaos, he must hunt down a killer targeting the Asian community.

Kangana Ranaut takes a dig at Indian politicians as British MP supports Emergency

Actor-MP Kangana Ranaut's Emergency is not only facing protests in Punjab, but in parts of the UK as well. Kangana Ranaut on Friday shared a video on social media where British MP Bob Blackman could be heard speaking in support of the political drama Emergency and defended its right to be screened. Kangana praised Blackman for raising his voice and questioned the lack of support from "Indian politicians and feminists."

Kangana wrote on X, "British MP raises his voice for my fundamental right of free speech meanwhile pin drop silence from Indian politicians and feminists #Emergency (sic)."

Bob Blackman had originally shared his video from the House of Commons and written, "I raised the horrific intimidation of my constituents and many others, as Pro-Khalistan thugs disrupted screenings of the new Emergency film in cinemas. Some cinemas have even pulled the film in fear of more disruption. We must stand up to anyone trying to silence free speech (sic)."

Blackman, in the clip, claimed that "masked Khalistani terrorists" disrupted the screening. He then went on to state that similar activities took place in others areas of the UK which forced the cinema owners to take down the movie. "Now, this is a very controversial film. I don't want to comment on the content or the quality of the film, but I do defend the right of others to be able to view the film," Blackman said in the video.

In India, various Sikh bodies have been protesting against the release of the political drama after they claimed that the movie distorts facts surrounding the controversial period of Indian history.

In the film, Kangana plays former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi. Apart from the lead star, Emergency also features Shreyas Talpade, Anupam Kher and Milind Soman, among others, in pivotal roles. It released in cinemas on January 17.

I don't care about their prosperity my brother. In the words of Javed Miandad as enshrined in the signature of @Major "India can to go hell"

Khalistan is more dangerous for Pakistan if it ever does come into existence because they will target pakistan as we hold a few important areas of Sikhs especially in Punjab.

So we have india pakistan issue in Kashmir, pakistan and afg issue for kpk and attock, and pakistan balochistan issue. Having khalistan exist will create an issue in punjab.

Naaah.. please don't spread Modi propaganda here. Khalistani Sikhs will be dear brothers of Pakistani punjab and infact give reparations to Pakistan for the bloodshed on Muslims during the partition.

Best way to learn history is through books or long form podcasts by neutral sources.

These films often stray far away from the actual events, omit details for sake of creating dramatic narratives, and reduce complex situations to binary good vs evil superhero stories.

I'm in no way wishing to offend my Sikhs friends and their holy place, but I've always thought Operation Blue Star was kinda India's Lal Masjid. I don't want to get into previous Congress-Bindrawhale ties as that's for a separate thread, nor am I particularly a fan of Indira Gandhi, but don't see how any sovereign government could tolerate a militia arming themselves and creating some kind of parallel state.

You don't feel it's an antagonistic premise?

I apologise, I didn't really know anything about it, so I followed your link to read what it is about. It just seems to be based on some concept of an intermarriage between an Indian man and (I think Pakistani) female. The lead character is some British Indian policeman by the looks of it, and the story seems to revolve around their differences - in religion presumably.

It looks like the writer is some British Indian guy who is living out his fantasy life, but since it revolves around the usual conflict of religion, families, blah blah, I presume it's aimed mostly at a white audience who might want some insight into how other people live.
