They couldn't find a worse athlete than this out of shape (you can clearly see a belly) no one when it comes to fielding, even in the Indian side let alone on the world stage; I can easily think of 5-6 (or maybe more) players, despite not following Indian team much, who are much superior in shape and ability?

One site said this about his effort "But instead Rohit ambled casually up to the mound, and fired in a throw so wayward it sent spectators ducking for cover at a separate baseball game two states over, setting cricket back several decades in North America." LOL, that is funny and :fp worthy as well!

Throw was obviously not as bad but couldn't they have sent a better athlete for this?

What's Rohit Sharma doing on a baseball pitch?

Anyway - I think you have mixed up June with July.

funny content but i am failing to grasp how the title relates with the content of the thread.

In tru fashion, all posters are more worried about attacking me rather than questioning the ability of the super 'athlete', also not sure what does June or July has to do with my post; I did not mention anything about when the video was taken or any other details!

it is pointless because the role of Mr. Rohit Sharma is to hit sixes. As long he does, everyone is happy. When he stops, kick him out of the team.

Its great to see you Monsee bhai. Sad that my fellow Indians cant share a goid laugh with you but worry your Bhaijaan is always there.

Having said that Bro Hitman is one of my fav Indian cricketers. Please ignore his fat deposits, he is a joy to watch in limited overs cricket.

Huh, who said anything about his role in the Indian tea

freelance_cricketer - again, I am not arguing about his role in the Indian team, my post is only about his effort on the baseball ground, nothing more or less!

Rohit Sharma isn't good at baseball.

God knows how he cleared the yo-yo test. Doesn't look like he is focusing on his fitness much.

Drink a glass of water, relax, take a deep breath and stop posting about stuff I have clearly not discussed a single thing about!

He's not a baseball player. So why make a fuss about it?

Drink lassi and ponder about why a physicist doesn't work in a operating theater in a hospital.

Arjuna ranatunga and aravind are two players who is perhaps opposite end of fitness going by looks.

But they were quick as a cat.

Looks are deceiving.

Rohut's brother in law is a top notch sports agent. Easy for him to get Rohit to such headline hogging events

Really? From what I remember Ranatunga was pretty poor with fitness.

I don't remember him being quick as a cat. I do remember him rather controversially calling for runner when he felt tired. Also remember he was involved in a very high number of run-outs.

Watch him in world cup 1996. Probably one of the quickest i have seen. Towards the end, his mindset has changed and that's when controversy started to creep in.

Whats with this fat shaming culture nowadays? Why does everyone need to have flat tummies?

How is Rohit Out of shape? He passed the yo-yo whatso test didnt he? He is not in the modelling or acting business to have slim features. As long as he passes fitness tests he is fit!

And Have you seen American baseball players? Do they all have flat stomachs? The greatest baseball player of all time Babe Ruth was quite heavy. A lot of the baseball batters are heavy blokes.

It is an honor to be invited for a first pitch, and your fat shaming him will not dilute it in any way.

Wow!! Rohit got invited for the first pitch! That’s a big deal! Coming of age of Indian cricket in the non cricketing world.

Thanks for sharing that! Don’t think how he threw really matters in the end. But him being invited is a big deal.

Everyone here missing the point, couple of posters even resorting to idiotic rants etc

What is it that Rohit does for 50 overs or 20 overs when he is on the field on a cricket ground, while his team is the fielding side; if he can throw all the way from the bounary in to the keeper's gloves, how hard would it be to practice a bit and land that pitch in the catcher's glove? Was he expected to throw at 100 MPH or just throw a simple pitch to the catcher?

From his physical appearence, the way he was dressed, how he acted really unprepared, his body language etc. did not do any justice to the fact that he was showing to a lot of U.S. baseball fans what a cricketer looks like. He failed on all those accounts, if he was a non-Indian/Pakistani, same posters would be raising the roof with their jokes, insults etc.

His throw is wide but fast enough, reaches opposite end of the pitch, despite practice, it's still hard to throw it on target, due to shape and size of ball.

Are we really criticizing Rohit's baseball pitch? lol

As far as Rohit looking lazy or unprepared. That's how he always is, even when he gets out or plays a shot. It seems so effortless and you get a disinterested reaction from him.

I know what you are trying to say. But it still really awesome for a cricketer to be invited for the first pitch!

Really awesome share dude. Thanks!!

Rohit needs to draw inspiration from Inzamam. If a mega heavyweight like Inzamam could play international cricket for 1 year .... errr, I mean 16-17 years, anyone else can :))

You just validated the ignorance here.

There's difference between a cricket ball and baseball in terms composition and aerodynamics.

Put one formula driver of Ferrari into a red bull car and he will find it difficult to handle though both are racing cars.

With practice, it'll come naturally with the baseball.

In other news - Federer is a terrible table tennis player and Schumacher is a terrible rally driver. -___-

Seriously OP. What were you thinking?

So, not only is he an excellent ambassador, he is great at cricket these days as well, smashing bowlers to all corners especially when away from home :-P

Yes Mosnee bhai. You are spot on wiotj your analysis as always. Was a sublime match winning hundred from Rohit today in the series decider. Whattay player yar :yk

That was a as bad through as ever from a top cricketer. It surely sent a wrong message about cricket.

Rohit has good arm and you can see it when he throws it from boundary line.

Not sure how he messed it up here.

Either way, Rohit is out of shape and has a belly like Sarfraz.

Finaly some sane posters see and agree with my point of view, but I guess one cannot please everyone when criticizing their favorite player (s)!

And no, just because he fired in the last T20i (mostly in deciders/finals I think he is usually found missing), it is ok to be lethargic looking and unfit while representing a sport to an outside audience!
