We are already taking care of thousands of Afghan refugees who are our Muslim brothers as well and in much worse conditions as compared to Indian Muslims.

I'm quite sure more than half of the current Afghan cricket team were born and raised in Pakistan.
Can you say the same for any of your neighbour's citizens?

Based on what was decided during partition, give us our rightful land in Kashmir, Junahadh, etc and we will be happy to take as many Muslims. In fact we will gladly keep our Hindu brothers and sisters as well. We have no itching desire to rid our country of them.

I don't want to divert the thread but was just curious reading your post.

What was decided for princely states? Can you link the article stating the decision for merger of princely states?

Wasn't it left upto the leaders of princely states to decide what they want to do? Britishers didn't divide the princely states between India and Pakistan, did they? It was the governments of respective countries which got them to merged.

So, partition didn't decide land of the states you mentioned. Or is your understanding different here?

The cases of Kashmir and Junagadh are contradiction to each other. Whatever theory you believe in for partition both Kashmir and Junagadh can never be both included in same country.

Assuming you believe that a state with majority Muslim population will join Pakistan irrespective of what the ruler decided. This is case of Kashmir.
Then the above should hold true for states with majority Hindu population irrespective of the leader. This is case of Junagadh.

Both will always be contradiction.

It's off topic from discussion of this thread but I was curious what my friends from other side of border interpret history as and how history is portrayed over there.

Isn't it true that Sardar Patel was willing to give all of Kashmir to Pakistan if Pakistan backed of its demand for Hyderabad ? Jinnah would not budge, he became greedy and the deal did not go through which resulted in India keeping a good chunk of Kashmir and also taking over Hyderabad.... I could be wrong about all this but whats your opinion on this ?

1.9 million people don’t have these documents in Assam alone. Roughly 40% of these are Bengali Hindus who can fall back on the CAA and claim they are a discriminated minority from neighbouring Bangladesh even though they could have migrated anytime after 1951.
It might be a general concern that people do not possess evidentiary documents especially if you are posting from the West. However it is a fact that many people have not bothered to get the paperwork made - 1.9 million in Assam alone.
The wider issue is that the Bengali Hindus have a ‘get out of jail’ free card - CAA - one that discriminates against Muslims who find themselves in the exact same position as their Bengali brothers.

Firstly you need to understand the term illegal immigration is a violation of the law for any country.

You need to understand that every country picks and chooses who it would like to give amnesty too.

Illegal Mexican immigrants have gotten amnesty on many occasions in the US where as a lot of hardworking Indian and Chinese workers despite being in the upper tax bracket have been living for ages under visa restrictions.

A country picks and chooses whom they want to give refuge to. It happens in Europe,N.A pretty much every where in the world.

If Majority of illegal immigrants happen to be Muslims and are deported and a few minorities are given amnesty under the CAA as persecuted minorities I don’t see an issue.

Now if majority of them are minorities then there is a bigger issue of persecution in these neighboring countries like everyone expects and then obviously the rest who crossed the border will be dealt with as an illegal immigrant should.

Also not everything is straightforward. Someone cannot just say they are Hindu and government will distribute passports like laddoos. It doesn’t work that way. Similarly you just can’t dump someone in another country just like that and say these guys are illegal and the other country will just embrace them with both arms open.

There is a process.

Also don’t think an immigration policy overhaul of this magnitude will just work on having men open their pants to check their religion. It doesn’t work that way.

So either ways you look at it from an Indian perspective this is great attempt to bring a structure to the immigration process and identity of Indian citizens. There will be roadblocks in a system running of chaos for over 70 years to suddenly adapt.

I can tell u that 50% of the bjp believes in this view but they won't speak out.

I can just say that we are waiting for a party like AAP to become a national party so that we can finally be run by a secular government.
Congress believed in muslim appeasement which was hurtful for our majority population and as a result there was a wave of nationalism in which majority of our population was swept.
Bjp will win the next election too but after that i believe we"ll finally get a good government.

Yes those 40% (if it is true) didn’t have an option because there was genocide in East Pakistan where minorities were mostly targeted. So yes they got lucky that they found a Hindu country in the neighborhood.

For the rest tough luck, illegal is illegal.

Nothing discriminatory about it. What those Hindus and other minorities did is illegal too but they are given a pass under humanitarian grounds.

Either ways there is still a lengthy process for a person to be deported or given a citizenship.

This law is not a Hindu law it is on humanitarian grounds for all minorities of identified neighboring countries. That has been stressed enough.
