[VIDEO/PICTURES] Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman returns to India

Ask him that did he shoot a f16 of pakistan's.
I'm very confident he didn't.

Thats the most bogus claim ever. Whats the odds of being good enough to shoot down F16 and then end up being captured yourself. Most probably Indians know that once he returns they can turn him into a hero by letting him claim he shot down f16 and the public will eat it up. Their media has already started the campaign and a loser who got himself captured is being made into a proper hero

Sometimes I think if Germany and France can work together now.

Can’t Pakistan and India work with each other peacefully?

The rivalry between these two nations is not healthy for Asia, specifically for South Asia.

I am not sure.. the revenge of Pulwama is still not achieved.. till we get that, there is no chance of peace.

Media and Modi has successfully shifted the focus from Pulwama attack to Abhinandan. For some indians this is a victory already and they have forgotten everything.

Yes definitely a decent person.I feel for his family as Indian media made every attempt that he do not go back.

South Indians are generally very decent people. Plus his father was in IAF and his mother was a doctor. He has had a good upbringing.

Another smart move to shut up the loud mouth lying Indian media.

He seems like a genuinely decent person. He is obviously under distress, but there are certain things that you cannot hide from your face.

I highly doubt he will change his statements when he returns to India, but the media will definitely “attribute” some controversial statements to him.

I have noticed Mamoon is always criticizing Pakistan but he seems to completely change when all of Pakistan needs to stay togather.

Yes, hopefully this Abhinandan thing dies down today, and Indians come back to the main topic of revenge for Pulwama.. that's the core issue.. not a POW being returned.. he is not a hero for me yet.

Yes family upbringing matters.Being son of two educated parents must have an impact.

Finally it is over :yk

You never know. Some random guy was so triggered he went to SC to stop Indian pilot's return

Soldiers from both side really respect each other there was a time they even use to talk to each other while standing on their posts and exchange cigarettes.

Was watching some YouTube videos. Ex generals from both countries say they speak regularly and are very cordial to each other. I think it's ethos where an army man of one country always respects another army man from another country.

How is the "Josh" Pakistani fellows?

Pakistan has also won this media battle.

Indian media is licking their lips knowing they will be making tons of money because too many bhakths will be watching it.

Feeling good buddy i am from an Army family i know the price of war we should all give peace a chance.

Patriotism does not mean that we should be oblivious to our problems. I am very, very proud of how we defended the pride and honor of our nation and gave Modi a befitting reply.

However, that does not change the fact that we need to change ourselves as well. Not everything is Indian and Western propaganda, and we are not a country that propagates peace.

His criticism are valid and most of us agree.

Trolling part gets annoying.

He is kind of person that more Pakistani need.

And we are heading in that direction, In Sha Allah.

Messege to some Indians who are critical of their pilot:

He is your soldier; have some respect and shame. Treat him with goodness that he deserves as he puts his life in risk for your country. Its easy to be sat in a cosy room and make absurd statements.

I was shocked to see the Indian soldiers not saluting him at the border. This is not cool and I worry about abinandans safety.

You can tell he has this fear of how he will be received.

I do not blame him

News coming in that Indian firing across the LoC has killed one civilian.

Read it on the news channel

What a joke. They released him without anything in return, that I know of anyway.

True

He is not a hero.. he is our soldier who tried and failed in his mission.. there is no need to ridicule him as we all fail.. but there is no need to glorify him either, he praised Pakistan army ..

I understand that .. but he could have used some other phrase. Should not have used the legendary phrase of our movie.

Sorry i don't have any information about this because i am not a fan of movies. I heard this from Indian cricket team i guess.

It is funny that those who belong to an Army family are the ones who want peace but those who are living peacefully in their bedrooms are the ones who want war. Funny world. :inti

The pilot, moments after ejecting, was trying to swallow his documents and tried to wash away other important stuff, knowing very well that his life was is in extreme danger.

And there are keyboard soldiers in India and Vir Chakra holders on the internet who are questioning why he is being bestowed with so much respect after “failing” his mission.

He spoke facts...

It certainly is.

Online Joshilay will wet their lungi on the way to battle field.

Sound like bhakth.

Time to stop being a tool bag. Appreciate someone who joined the forces for this eventuality too. Failure or success is not a guarantee where a second or an inch is the difference between life or death in Airforce.

He isn't.

He came to cause destruction and killing.

Returning him in dignified manner is.

He did not go there to cause destruction.. he chased the PAF planes and due to some faults, he could not complete it properly.

There is no disrespect in failing.. however calling him a hero is a disrespect to others who succeeded.

I appreciate Pakistan's gesture in returning him, even if it is due to international pressure, but a good gesture nevertheless.. thanks.

Relax. imo, If PAF had one F-16 missing, they would never release pilot. This POW story is rubbish. There were many ways to block his release. And Abhinandan looks a genuine soldier.

They are deluded that a missile won't hit them. They are just like the Pharoh of Egypt who may accept the truth the very second death comes close to them but its too late by then.

How can they be bhakth when this is considered as a victory for Modi as per his party. I think it's the other side that's trying to discredit the pilot and thereby discredit the release

Appreciate someone for failing ? No. I will not disrespect him because everyone can fail.. but let's keep things in perspective.. almost every critical job has a few seconds margin of error, still some succeed and others fail.

It's easy to fight wars from your bedroom or the TV studio, but these guys wouldn't last 10 sec on battle field or even in a street fight.

We have gone through it so we do understand the consequences i hope one day they will understand it without going through it.

Half of my family is in the military or retired (in fact one of them is a flight lieutenant in IAF). Most are staunch BJP supporters and believe there needs to be a firm solution to the Pakistani problem.

Anecdotes won't get you very far.

That's the nature of the job and you should appreciate people who volunteer for that job. What good of a citizen are you if you don't support your own armed forces no.matter what. Patriotism is backing you country and it's warriors through success and failure. Chest thumping during victory and bashing during loss is what a tool bag does.

Good luck with that solutions then :)

I support my armed forces, but supporting doesn't mean appreciating failures.

You can't be a prisoner of war without a war being declared :)

It doesn't need to be a war. It's any armed conflict between Nations and this was one. Dawn explained it pretty well here.

Dawn: The Geneva Conventions, to which both Pakistan and India are signatories, apply in all cases of armed conflict which may arise between two or more High Contracting Parties (states are High Contracting Parties).

The guy is flying an antique piece, he's lucky it even flew properly so cut him some slack

All our pilots were flying the same piece.. it's an entirely different problem we need to address. I am not critical of him, but will not call him a hero, specially after he praised the Pakistani army saying Indian Army needs to learn from them. That's not correct thing to say .

Indian anchors looking really upset over his comments about them in the video.
