Prime Minister Imran Khan has urged the country’s youth to take to streets to hold 'peaceful demonstrations' against “foreign conspiracy" being hatched to topple his government.

“Raise your voice and stage protests against this conspiracy not for me but for the future of the country,” he remarked while addressing the youth on Saturday.

“Don’t resort to violence and I urge you to hold peaceful demonstrations and don’t cause any harm to the country,” he asked his young supporters while interacting with them via telephone.

Meanwhile, PM Imran and his Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) lawmakers have decided to attend the proceedings of the no-confidence vote scheduled to be held in tomorrow's National Assembly session.

It has been reported that PTI members will be present during the session and have their vote counted against the no-trust move in the lower house.

Earlier, PM Imran had formally barred the party's lawmakers from attending the National Assembly session on the day of voting on the opposition’s no-confidence motion.

“Pakistan Army is a professional institution and please don’t criticise the military… after army, PTI has united the nation,” the premier said while responding to a live caller during today's telethon.

Don’t criticize the army is the right approach from him, but everyone can see Army’s approach.

It is strange that a geopolitical development between Russia and Ukraine should indirectly influence the domestic politics of a South Asian country!

This is probably the best time to be quiet when you don’t have a stake in the fight. I haven’t heard these many statements on world balance from India, Israel, Middle East or even China etc.

Based on PP, it seems whatever IK is doing is working but not sure if that is the reflection of what is really happening on the ground.

There is a saying in our language.

Aurta teer laylay na... Basically a flyinf arrow that is not even aimed at you and is going somewhere else, but you being anno one decide to take the hit for no apprent reason.

Thats what pakistan did under imran. Now by creating anti amreeka sentiments, he has something to do his election campaign on.....

Too rile up pakistanis there are three things you can do. Talk about islam, talk against blasphemy or create anti amreeka sentiment.

These three things can get people on the roads.

However, talk about inflation, mhengai, workers rights, minimum wage, no one cares about those thing and would never come out on street.

Imran is becoming a problem for the state now. He could just go in opposition and take a stand against mhengai (ironically)....

Anyways, this is why ppp winning has become important as they are good in the economic and foreign policy front...

Foreign policy of a country should be independent. That message is correct from Imran Khan. But there is a nuance and diplomatic way to convey that. He has completely missed that point without building any local structure or stronger economy for Pakistanis. USA and West is a big export market for Pakistan as compared to rest of the world. Antagonising them is actually not in national interest... But well, I guess who can tell him that.

You keep saying ppp will fix the economy - do mean they will repay the billions looted during their time in office or is it some other trick?
How will they improve foreign policy and that within weeks/months?

Personally, sad that it's come to this for Imran. Took the pakistani posters on this forum for their word believing he might be the erdogan like patriarch for his country, with a decade plus rein at the very minimum.

Now that we know that the Army is the real power center even in this prolonged democratic spell Pakistan is experiencing - since musharraf was ousted - is it fair to blame the political parties for the so called loot? Could it be that the army/establishment purposely turns a blind eye or even encourages it so that they have a leverage over the political class as a whole?

You missed the whole point...

Imran himself handed foreign policy to coas. He never took charge.

Now to come out and make such statsments is ridiculous.

This is like rameez raja coming out and bash the new chairman for pitches.... It contradicts what you yourself did

There are different fiscal and monetory policies that could be adapted. Read upon how ppp bought the country from all most hyper inflation back in 2012...

Will they be able to do that in current climate with global inflation?

I came across this link

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Periods_of_stagflation_in_Pakistan

And it says Gillani did very little to help the situation:
Yousaf Raza Gillani, Prime Minister of Pakistan from 2008–2012, is held responsible for doing too little to improve the economic situation.[3] The leading financial critics points out that Gillani's government carried out no major economic reforms to encourage economic development and the few policy measures and reforms were either very modest or collapsed due to opposition from his party's leadership

[MENTION=135038]Major[/MENTION] if you have something else that refutes that?

Instead of reading wikipedia articles plz read some proper articles written by experts...

In 2012 the country was moving towards hyper inflation, but the ppp had bought in measures that saved the country from going towards hyper inflation, the results of ppp policies came during the pmln time.

Economic policies against inflationare always long term...

I agree all policies take a while, but can they fix it with global inflation on the rise? US and UK are around 6/7% atm?

Also it 130 AM here so only found the wiki page on stagflation, they aren't all lies!

This global inflation argument is tiring and too kuch repetitive....

Pakistans inflation is due to the policies adopted. Ok, cost push inflatrion is due to our importing based economy which is somewhat global issue.

But when we talk about the coet push inflation interms of govt taxes, thats the problem. The govt has imposed fiscal policies which were not needed in the current economic scenario. Becuaee imran took money from imf, imf placed 17percent tax on apmost everything.

This tax was not their on every product being sold. Now its being added on top of other tariffs aswell and some products are facing double taxation... Especially the raw material ones ..

Respect army's decision to remain neutral, says PM Imran

Premier urges youth to hold countrywide protests against ‘foreign conspiracy’ to topple his govt in live telethon

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that he respected the country’s top military leadership’s decision of not becoming part of political affairs saying that his government has “excellent ties with army”.

“Military told me that they wanted to remain neutral and don’t want to be a part of political matters,” the premier remarked.

“I don’t have any differences with military… they decided that they will not get involved in political matters and we respect their decision and stand by them,” he maintained.

PM Imran said the military believed that it should not become controversial by getting involved in the country’s political affairs.

Prime Minister Imran also urged the country’s youth to take to streets to hold 'peaceful demonstrations' against “foreign conspiracy" being hatched to topple his government.

The PTI administration had announced that those who want to connect with the premier with queries can dial 051-9210809 earlier in the day.

“Pakistan Army is a professional institution and please don’t criticise the military… after army, PTI has united the nation,” the premier said while responding to a live caller during today's telethon.

PM Imran claimed that propaganda is being spread to create rifts between military and the public and added that the military has rendered innumerable sacrifices for the country.

He also lashed out at Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif over his reported remarks that “beggars cannot be choosers”.

“They are slaves who worship money… Shehbaz Sharif is facing corruption charges involving billions of rupees… they can never take independent decisions,” he said, adding that all opposition leaders have joined hands against him to protect their “ill-gotten wealth”.

PM Imran also said that cases will be registered against those who are committing treason against the country by becoming part of the “foreign conspiracy” against his government.

“We are consulting with our lawyers on this matter and by tonight we will make a final decision,” he added.

Premier Imran said the public was aware of the “foreign plot” and expressed hope that the masses will never allow this “conspiracy” to succeed. “I will defeat them all [opposition] in assembly tomorrow,” he said while referring to vote on no-confidence motion, which is scheduled to be held in National Assembly on Sunday.

“Don’t worry we will win tomorrow and the nation will not let them [opposition] to return [to power],” he assured one of the live callers.

“I will give you good news tomorrow… those who have joined opposition are now wary of committing treason,” said the premier, maintaining that he will foil opposition’s attempt to oust him through no-trust vote. “I have been receiving messages since last night.”

“Those who criticise military like Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam attacked army chief and ISI head… are actually inflicting harm on our country,” he said.

“Fortunately we have a strong military which guarantees our country’s defence and we should refrain from doing anything detrimental to our military,” he reiterated.

Speaking about the country’s foreign policy, the premier said he was not “anti-America or anti-India” and wanted cordial ties with all states.

“I will never become part of any policy which is against the public interest come what may… I want cordial ties with all countries but my foreign policy will be people-centric,” he added.

Not too long before the old people who have a tribal mindset & little education to keep supporting thieves will be replaced by the younger generation.

You will have the odd Billo but most have self respect & want a free Pakistan.

But doesn't he or anybody in his cabinet understand if they come back in power in near future, they have cornered themselves by putting all their chips in one or two bags? He has done exactly opposite of the neutral foreign policy that he preached few days back.

Agree, this is why the hypocrites and foreign intruders want a stop on imran as he has got in the mindset of the younger generation who can dream of a free and proper Pakistan, free of shackles, build their own Destiny.

Can someone give a small summary of what has happened in Pakistan politics the past few weeks.

All I can see is that Imran Khan has fallen and might even lose his position as a prime minister.

Agree, this is why the hypocrites and foreign intruders want a stop on imran as he has got in the mindset of the younger generation who can dream of a free and proper Pakistan, free of shackles, build their own Destiny.

The mentality is ...My Dad voted for ....because his Dad voted for....and his Dad would have voted for the same party if it existed in his time.

Its very similar to the story of the Prophet(pbuh) when he arrived, older men & women wouldnt take his message even though it made sense because their forefathers worshipped some stone idol in the Kabba.

I have to say in my family , inc my dad, he moved to PTI as soon as IK became a major force. However others such as Uncles think Nawaz Sharif is still their boy. Interestinly they are broke, my dad is the opposite.

But doesn't he or anybody in his cabinet understand if they come back in power in near future, they have cornered themselves by putting all their chips in one or two bags? He has done exactly opposite of the neutral foreign policy that he preached few days back.

look at his age plz. Even if he comes back somehow, after 2028 we are going to have new faces. Imran would be history by than. Too old to even walk..

I do not think he is coming back to power again.
1- That's why he calling youth to come out in favor of him. Person like Imran should believe on second match.
2. Did you hear army chief's speech today. he wants good relation with USA, Where as IK is bashing USA.

So they are planning to fight tomorrow in the parliament. That means IK knows he is not coming back again so destroy whatever he can.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Saturday said that Prime Minister Imran Khan should be booked for provocation, incitement and sedition.

The statement comes after local media, quoting sources, reported that the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership have decided to resort to violence in the federal capital on Sunday, the day crucial voting is going to take place in National Assembly on the opposition's no-trust motion.

Senior journalist Hamid Mir, quoting sources, said that the ruling party has decided to stop the opposition lawmakers from exiting the parliament lodges and entering the lower house of parliament.

Whether they enter the assembly or even if they are outside, they will be beaten, Mir said, while quoting ‘informed sources’.

"Those of PTI who resort to violence or create a law and order situation should be arrested and thrown behind bars, IK (Imran Khan) included," Maryam wrote on her official Twitter handle in reaction.

She said that PM Imran should be booked for provocation, incitement and sedition. "Will be Insha’Allah. None of them should be spared."

In another tweet, Maryam said that whatever Imran Khan is doing today will only add to the dossier and charge sheet against him. "The list is getting longer & longer. He is inviting woes & miseries for himself & his people," she added.

She warned that the premier "will have to pay through his nose for every word he says today".

Earlier in the day, PM Imran had urged the country’s youth to take to streets to hold 'peaceful demonstrations' against “foreign conspiracy" being hatched to topple his government.

“Raise your voice and stage protests against this conspiracy not for me but for the future of the country,” he remarked while addressing the youth.

“Don’t resort to violence and I urge you to hold peaceful demonstrations and don’t cause any harm to the country,” he asked his young supporters while interacting with them via telephone.

Sources earlier told The Express Tribune that the ruling party will launch a mass protest movement against the future government and an election campaign to garner support to return to power. Public meetings will be held in all major cities and districts of the country and protests would be held at all levels, they added.

They said that PTI is expected to vouch for early elections while playing its role in getting electoral reforms, including implementation of electronic voting and the right of vote for overseas Pakistanis, approved by the National Assembly.

They said that the PTI will embark on a campaign to inform the people about the opposition’s role in view of the ‘foreign threat’, and the government’s performance during the past three-and-a-half-years.

Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif slammed Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday for “trying to divide the nation and pushing the country towards a civil war” — a sentiment shared by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, who said it was unfortunate that “this defeated man [the premier] is making efforts to disrupt peace”.

Speaking at a press conference, Mr Sharif urged all state institutions to ensure smooth voting on the no-confidence resolution in the Nat*ional Assembly scheduled for today (Sunday).

“It is the duty of all constitutional institutions to take measures within the ambit of the law and Constitution to ensure that members enter the house and cast their votes without facing any hurdle and that their votes are counted,” Mr Sharif said.

Alleging that the government was conspiring to sabotage the constitutional process of the no-trust motion, the PML-N leader said the capital’s administration and police should ensure law and order in the federal capital on Sunday.

He said that instead of accepting defeat, the premier seemed hell-bent on dividing the nation and sabotaging the voting on the no-confidence resolution against him. “The politics of Imran Khan to divide the nation will be buried tomorrow,” he said.

Pakistan could only move towards self-reliance and self-sufficiency by breaking the begging bowl, he said, regretting that a statement — “beggars can’t be choosers” — that he made earlier this week was being twisted and linked to the United States.

“Some friends tried to give this statement a twist, which is not correct,” he said, clarifying his much-criticised remarks. He said he wanted to say that Pakistan would have to break the begging bowl if the country and the nation wanted to exist with dignity and respect.

Mr Sharif reminded how Imran Khan was so fond of the United States and the former president Donald Trump, and expressed surprise that now all of a sudden, the premier was propagating this narrative of the US being a villain and conspirator against Pakistani democracy.

“Imran started by damaging Pakistan-China ties by criticising the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Pervez Khattak started it, followed by Imran Khan and Assad Umar, who went overboard with false propaganda against the CPEC. They said the loans were taken from China at eight per cent, whereas not a single one was over 2.25pc, whereas the majority was not even loans and were investments by Chinese businessmen,” the opposition leader said.

He said Imran Khan did not stop there and went for another trusted friend of Pakistan when his foreign minister lashed out at Saudi Arabia. “And now [Imran] has gone straight for Washington,” Mr Sharif said.

Imran ‘trying to disrupt peace’

Meanwhile, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said the opposition had repeatedly asked the premier to take an honourable exit and accept his defeat.

“He should have tendered his resignation. Now that the voting [on the no-trust move] is taking place, it should take place in a peaceful manner. It is unfortunate that this defeated man is making efforts to disrupt peace,” he said while addressing a press conference at Zardari House, Islamabad, on Saturday evening.

Mr Bhutto-Zardari felicitated the nation on the arrival of the holy month of Ramazan, saying that “our sehri tomorrow will be in the ‘Naya Pakistan’, but iftari will be in the old Pakistan”. He said a journey towards electoral reforms and fair elections “will begin from tomorrow”.

He alleged that Prime Minister Khan was trying to incite violence — if not outside parliament, then inside it. The premier “will try to undermine a constitutional, democratic and peaceful transition of power by the show, display and use of force. This is a very serious issue. Parliament is our supreme institution. It represents the people of the country”, he said.

“It is unfortunate that no PM in the history of the country has been removed constitutionally. Now that we are driving out a PM democratically, no obstacle should be erected,” he said.

He said it was written in the Supreme Court’s own order that no one could stop an MNA from going to parliament. The Supreme Court has stated that no political party should call their workers to the Red Zone.

“Now, it is on record that the PM has given a call for protest today and tomorrow. For a while now, PTI’s Tiger Force and goons have been given the task to reach Islamabad. Different statements and audios of the defence minister and KP chief minister have been revealed in this regard,” the PPP chairman said.

He said the PM was worried that he would be targeted once ousted from power. “I will try to convince [PML-N leaders] Shehbaz Sharif and Rana Sanaullah to take no such action. However, if he tries to harm the democracy, I will ensure that he will not be spared.”

He said the PM intended to show or use violence to undermine our constitutional process. If this happens, “we will ensure that Article 6 [high treason] is applied.”

Govt ‘abusing speaker, president office’

Meanwhile, PPP Vice President Sherry Rehman while talking to reporters regretted that high-level constitutional offices were being used to keep an individual in power.

Accusing National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser of behaving like a “Tiger Force activist”, she said there were reports that the PTI had asked the speaker to count the votes incorrectly.

She said the government was also thinking of using the office of the president in its quest to escape the no-trust motion.

Ms Sherry Rehman said the Constitution was clear about the procedure for no-trust motion, and the government was trying to use all the delaying tactics to stick to power.

She said the government now wanted anarchy to get the National Assembly session suspended. “They wanted to set the whole country on fire after seeing their imminent exit,” she said.

Former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani while speaking at a press conference asked Imran Khan to show sportsmanship and “accept the reality”.

He claimed that the opposition had the support of 197 MNAs — much higher than the number required to oust the prime minister.

Mr Gilani recalled that he immediately quit when he had been disqualified by the Supreme Court in 2012.

As an outsider to all this, not sure what is the truth. But it sure take balls to antagonise your big export market.

A suicide is not a courageous act but a dire state of mind that can cause lot of collateral damage when the act is committed while in position of power.

Probably the first time when ruling party asking people to hold protest.

Doesn't that show failure of the administration itself that it was susceptible to foreign interference (if true)?

This is his campaign narrative for the elections, it should be clear to everyone. Let's see how much it succeeds. The opposition has handed his popularity back to him on a silver platter. They could have waited a year more and used Inflation and what not against him in elections but sadly that would require being somewhat competent and intelligent, something they severely lack.

As per Imran and his supporters America is a declining super power and cannot do anything to Pakistan.
That is the gamble he is ready to take on. In case he wins, let's wait and watch how American's respond, if indeed they were threatened by the dear leader of Pakistan.

It's funny when many of those supporters themselves hold US passport with no intention to leave the nation that is about to decline.

Jeez, it seems after imran clean bowling the opposition yesterday, the parosees find it a bitter pill to swallow!

Why is he invoking religion in the beginning before giving message to the youth? Didn't he say before that he will not let opponents and people use religion for political gains?

Imran Khan is acting a bit like a headless chicken.

He needs to have a proper strategy with the military clearly not on his side.

Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has asked the state institutions as to why did they allow ‘crooks’ to come into power by toppling his legitimate government through a no-trust vote in parliament earlier this year.

He made these remarks while addressing his party’s power show at Islamabad’s Parade Ground, which was held to protest against the coalition government led by PML-N on Saturday night.

“I did not stage a sit-in because we knew that a sea of people will come out in the evening and there were chances of clashes as people were angry due to police crackdown on protesters,” he said while referring to the much-hyped ‘Haqeeqi Azadi March’ protest that he called off abruptly in May.

Imran said the incumbent rulers wanted PTI to clash with institutions and law enforcement agencies but his decision to end the protest in the federal capital averted bloodshed.

The former premier said the incumbent rulers did not have any stake in the country as all their “stolen assets” were stashed abroad.

“It makes no difference to them if currency depreciates and country suffers setbacks because they don’t have to live and die here,” he added.

Calling the Sharif and Zardari families corrupt, Imran asked the institutions, “Why did you allow thieves to be imposed on Pakistan”.

“Is curbing corruption from the country only my responsibility? They closed down corruption cases worth billions of rupees by amending the NAB law,” he remarked.

“Isn’t it your responsibility too? Or only I am responsible to protect this country,” the former PM asked the institutions.

“People have taken to the streets across the country and they are sending the message through protests to the institutions that there is still time to save this country from thieves.”

Imran said people neither have accepted the “US conspiracy” nor will they allow these “thieves” to rule.

While referring to a statement of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and other political leaders, Imran said no premier ever in the world has called his nation “beggars”.

“These two families have been ruling this country for 30 years then who is responsible for destroying this country,” Imran said while referring to Defence Minister Khawaja Asif’s statement that country was on ventilator.

“I want to send a message to everyone that if someone thinks that people of this country will accept those who worship money, then listen to me you are wrong.”

Condemning last night’s attack on senior journalist Ayaz Amir in Lahore, Imran said such tactics cannot silence the dissent as people have broken the “idol of fear”.

“I want to a send a message to my institutions that the intimidation tactics to silence the dissent and lodging FIRs against journalists will not work.”

Speaking about the upcoming by-elections in Punjab, Imran said PML-N can never win the polls without rigging it.

“They will rig the elections with the help of Election Commission of Pakistan which has become controversial and biased… it can never conduct free and fair elections.”

The former premier said he introduced electronic voting machines (EVMs) to make the electoral process transparent. “All political parties and the ECP did not allow elections to be held through EVM,” he added.

“They [political opponents] can only win this through rigging because people are against them… not people but umpire is with them.”

Imran vowed to win the forthcoming by-elections, saying despite alleged rigging attempts his party will defeat the rival parties.

“We will never accept this imported government… no matter what tactics they employ, people will never accept them.”

The PTI chairman led a convoy to the venue from Rawalpindi earlier in the day.

The PTI leaders have set-up screens in major cities across the country including Karachi, Lahore, Hyderabad, and Sukkur among others to live telecast his speech.

‘Imran Khan's revolution is here’

Former Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid, addressing the Parade Ground rally, warned the government leaders to not underestimate the reach Imran Khan has and that his message has entered every home in Pakistan.

Suspect spotted

Islamabad police said in a tweet they had spotted a “suspicious person” who was hiding behind the main stage, where PTI central leadership including former PM Imran was also present.

“The suspect has been spotted through Safe City [cameras]. Security inside the venue has been informed about the suspect,” they added.

Last month, Imran had called upon his supporters to stage countrywide peaceful protests against the rising inflation and amendments to the NAB law on July 2 (today).

Earlier today, the PTI leaders had alleged that the incumbent government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was interfering with the rally preparations.

Former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed claimed banners with statements against PTI chief Imran Khan were hung in Rawalpindi prior to the party rally.

Alongside Rashid, leaders of the former ruling party also alleged that the government was attempting to interfere with the rally's preparation.

The banners were allegedly put up on Friday night, accusing the former premier of corruption.

A day earlier, PTI received permission from the Islamabad district magistrate’s office to hold a rally in the federal capital on July 2.

Code of conduct

PTI had given an undertaking to the district administration of Islamabad and agreed to 39 conditions for holding a rally on July 2.

PTI Islamabad chapter president of the central secretariat Ali Nawaz Awan signed the undertaking – code of conduct – before Islamabad’s deputy commissioner taking full responsibility for any untoward incident and agreeing to be held responsible in case of violation of the agreement.

Through the code of conduct, the party has agreed that the gathering shall not disturb or disrupt the fundamental rights of citizens, including the right to freedom of movement, trade and business, and education, and has assured that it will not block any road – Expressway, Murree Road or service roads.

The former ruling party agreed that the gathering shall end at 12 midnight, stating that it will be the organiser’s duty to ensure the dispersal after the event ends.

It nodded that the participants shall not indulge in violence or clashes. Under the agreement, the organisers are bound to ensure that the participants are dispersed peacefully, and they do not spend the night or subsequent nights at the Parade ground

The PTI also agreed that the participants shall not enter the Red Zone of Islamabad; organisers are responsible for the internal security arrangements of the participants and providing the list of the participants to the local police in advance; and that they will be responsible for any damage caused to the public or private property.

In the code, it signed a condition that no anti-state, religious, and anti-national slogans shall be made; effigy or flag of any party shall not be burnt; weapons would not be allowed, and the law enforcers can search any vehicle or person coming to attend the gathering.

The undertaking also stated that the organisers will respect the fundamental human rights of other stakeholders and the general public.

Protest in islamabad and everyone around here quiet?

Just shows how little people care about the guy...

Failed protest, this time around they have even less numbers than before

I streamed some of it on YouTube and didn't like it very much. It seemed too fixated on Imran Khan - playing videos of his cricket days on the screen and all. Then after every sentence of his (including some quotes from the Quran), the DJ would blast pop music. I found that odd.

Yes it may attract a crowd but doesn't stand any chance of overthrowing the government at all.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday warned his party workers and supporters of being wary of rigging during the upcoming by-polls in Punjab, now that "the umpires" stand on the government's side.

Imran expressed these concerns during a public gathering of his party at Islamabad's Parade Ground against inflation, political destabilisation, excessive load-shedding and continued hikes in fuel prices.

"We have 20 by-elections [coming up] in Punjab. The only way they can win is through rigging. The people are against them, [but] the umpires are with them," he said.

"We have to defeat these thieves despite their umpires."

"No matter what tactic they use ... whether they rig the election or use the police, the nation will never accept them," Imran said referring to the government, which he often dubs as "imported" and claims that it was imposed on the country by the US after ousting his own government through a "conspiracy".

He had announced tonight's gathering last Saturday, saying that the demonstration would be held for Islamabad locals and those from Rawalpindi, while people from other major cities would have their own local protests.

At the start of his speech, Imran explained why he had chosen to end his long march on May 26. "I knew there would be anarchy that evening and people would have come face to face with the police and the Rangers," he said. "[This] nation, the police, the Rangers [all ] are mine. I don't want to spread anarchy within my nation. I had set out just for one purpose: imported govt unacceptable.

"I had set out for one reason, and that was to [show] all the institutions where nation is standing and what it wants and that it will never accept these thieves.

"I invited you all today because I wanted to prove that if they hadn't used force on May 25, then there would have been a sea of people in Islamabad and it would have said one thing: imported govt unacceptable."

Addressing his political rivals, he said he knew that they wanted him to fight the army and the judiciary but "listen closely, our life and death is in Pakistan."

He accused the government of melting under IMF's pressure within two months, saying that he resisted the Fund's demands for two and a half years but raised petrol prices by a mere Rs10 as opposed to the "sky high" hike made by the current setup.

Judiciary, 'neutrals' answerable to God for what's happening under their watch
Imran criticised the Sharif and Bhutto families, branded them "slaves and boot polishers" and held them responsible for the country's economic plight.

"My questions from Pakistan's institutions is that how did you allow these thieves to be foisted over us? Is it not your Pakistan? Don't you understand that when you place thieves atop the treasury, the country gets destroyed?"

The PTI chairman said the judiciary and the "neutrals" — a reference to the military establishment — will be answerable to God for what they had done. "God will ask judges, 'I gave u status to establish justice, did you do that or not, and did you protect the weak from the powerful, and did you bring powerful under law or not?

"God will also ask the neutrals that 'how did you allow these thieves to be imposed over this country?'"

Imran claimed that the public was against the PML-N led government and the only way it can win the upcoming by-elections in Punjab was by way of rigging as "the umpires are with them." "We have to defeat these thieves despite their umpires."

Imran condemned the assault on senior journalist Ayaz Amir the previous night by "unidentified men". "The violence done against him ... I strongly condemn it and I want to send a message that if you think you can scare people and foist these thieves over us, don't have this misunderstanding. Whoever thinks so does not know the Pakistani nation.

"The nation will only get angrier and in end the country will face a loss."

Addressing the crowd before Imran, Rashid termed July as an "important month", and called on the people to ensure the PTI's victory in the Punjab by-elections on July 17.

Addressing the country's institutions and the establishment, he also said that early elections were in the country's best interest.

PTI leader Pervez Khattak, meanwhile, said the current inflation in the country was the proving to be the "destruction" of the public. He questioned why important decisions were going in the government's favour and warned that "no one will be safe if any injustice happens with Imran."

Various social accounts associated with the PTI showed pictures of PTI gatherings held simultaneously in other cities.

The protest in Karachi was held at Seaview, with local leaders such as Imran Ismail and Ali Haider Zaidi in attendance.

Earlier today, PTI Secretary General Asad Umar today posted a photo of himself with fellow party leader Amir Mehmood Kiyani and Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid, saying that he was waiting for Imran to arrive and lead the rally from Rawalpindi.

Imran's protest is actually against himself: Ahsan Iqbal
Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal said Imran's protest rally was actually against himself, as he blamed the PTI government for being responsible for inflation, power sector issues and other economic woes.

"Don't do a protest, [instead] apologise to the nation!"

Meanwhile, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah promised to use "fresh" and "updated" tear gas against PTI supporters today "if the need arises", advising the participants not to give cause to such a situation.

In response to a question, he said that Imran should "correct" his matters and refrain from "creating rebellion and instability" in the country. "He should indulge in peaceful and national politics."

"All the political parties in the country at the moment are on one side, trying to solve the ongoing crises, while Imran Khan is busy abusing everyone and playing the politics of hatred," the minister said, underscoring the need for political consensus.

Power show goes ahead after GHQ grants permission
The power show at Parade Ground was made possible after the Staff Duties Directorate at the General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi granted the PTI the permission on Friday.

The office of the deputy commissioner informed the PTI Central Secretariat President Ali Nawaz Awan that the permission to use Parade Ground had been granted by the GHQ.

On Thursday, the deputy commissioner had issued a no-objection certificate (NOC) to the PTI to organise the public gathering at the Parade Ground but linked it to the permission from the GHQ.

Less numbers than last time? Which time?

Yesterday there were once again huge crowds in the major cities. Look at all the pictures from drone footage day and night and tell me people didn't arrive in huge numbers.

The public are facing such huge astronomical fuel costs that many who want to come can't. I think you are deliberately being ignorant just as you always have been.

I find it embarrassing that this women was the first lady of the country and instead or helping in promoting women empowerment, she is involved in such petty things.

Excellent video by Imran Riaz on yesterdays jalsa and cheap tactics of imported goverment of chors.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwZ_2ktEa50

Main points are that pmln wasted tax payers money on making fake objectionable pictures of Imran Khan ( just as they did against Benazir) and removed PTI jalsa posters despite the jalsa being approved by all relevant authorities. The attack on Ayaz Amir further exposes their frustation and usually when a government knows their time is up, they behave in such cheap ways.

Former prime minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan Friday warned Shehbaz Sharif-led federal government that even if they file thousands of first information reports (FIRs) against him, he will still not backout, ARY News reported.

Addressing a public gathering in Kahuta, Imran Khan said that so far, 15 FIRs have been registered against him, but despite that, he said that he wouldn’t stop his fight against the “imported government.”

A corrupt group has been imposed on the country, but the masses will not let the corrupts and turncoats win the Punjab by-polls.

He also lauded the people of Kahuta for attending the public gathering in large numbers even after 10pm.

The former prime minister said they do not want to fight with anyone but only want ‘real independence’ which can only come through sovereign foreign policy. ‘We are against US slavery and corrupts.”

Recalling his tenure as prime minister, Khan said he said ‘absolutely not’ to the US from handing over the airbases to them and said they are allies of the US in peace but not in war as Pakistan has suffered a lot by becoming part of the war on terror in the past.

He underlined the need for fair and transparent elections and added that rigged polls will bring anarchy to the country.

Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday urged the youth to vote in the upcoming by-elections in Punjab, stating that votes would serve as “jihad” for “genuine freedom”.

As by-elections are set to commence on July 17 in 20 Punjab Assembly constituencies, the PTI released a campaign advertisement in which the former premier urged his supporters to mobilise in an effort to forego ballot-rigging.

Addressing the youth, Imran said that the incumbent government’s rise to power is a foreign-funded conspiracy.

“The thieves in power have robbed the country of Rs11 billion and have had themselves pardoned,” the party chairman claimed.

He added that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif-led government has destroyed the economy amidst rising inflation within the country.

A day earlier, Imran expressed fear that Pakistan is heading towards a similar situation to that of Sri Lanka due to the dynastic rule of two families – Sharif and Zardari.

“We are going to suffer the same fate as Sri Lanka because [Sri Lankan] rulers were also a family just like the two families here [in Pakistan] who are ruling the country for the last 30 years,” he said while addressing a rally in Punjab’s Lodhran on Monday.

Karachi rain: ‘classic example of how corruption ruins governance’

Referring to the intense monsoon spell that inundated Sindh’s capital city and stagnated infrastructure, Imran in a separate social media post on Twitter accused the Bhutto-Zardari family of corruption.

“Rains have once again exposed 14 years [of] corrupt rule,” wrote the ousted premier, adding that the devastation of the city was a “classic example of how corruption ruins governance.”

The PTI leader also accused the political dynasty of taking federal funds provided to Karachi, directing them to “fake accounts” and investing in Dubai’s real estate.

“This nexus of evil must be brought to an end,” Imran remarked.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Tuesday stated that 26 people have been killed in rain-related incidents across Sindh, from June 20 to July 10.

According to data released by the PDMA, in addition to 26 deaths, 11 have been injured within the same period. The highest number of deaths occurred in Karachi.

As monsoon rains ravage the province, the authority stated that 14 people were killed in rain-related accidents in the provincial capital, with six deaths reported in the city’s Eastern District and four in Korangi.

Former prime minister Imran Khan on Thursday vowed to hit “two wickets with one ball” on July 17, the day scheduled for by-elections in 20 constituencies of the Punjab Assembly.

Addressing a large public gathering in Dera Ghazi Khan, Imran told his supporters to go door to door to prepare for the by-elections and not be “scared off by any tactics” by those in power.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman also levelled serious allegations against the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC), saying: “Why do you spend three days in a week in Lahore with Hamza and Maryam?”

“You represent the entire Pakistan but visit them to mentor them on how they can win the July 17 polls,” he added.

Recalling how the recent elections in Sindh were conducted, Imran said: “The nation won’t forgive you.”

On the other hand, he added, “Mr X is in Lahore to support them so is Mr Y in Multan. Who is Mr X? Well, you’ll find out soon.”

Over 288,000 people have registered themselves on ‘Imran Tigers’ so far at PTI Chief Imran Khan’s call, ARY News reported.

According to details, a huge number of people turned to register themselves at the PTI Chief’s call. The party had provided a website and WhatsApp number to contact and register for ‘Imran Tigers’.

Over 42,000 had registered within 15 hours of the announcement.

Talking to the former governor of Sindh Imran Ismail and a newly elected member of the National Assembly from NA-245, Mahmood Moulvi the PTI Chairman Imran Khan condemned the arrest of Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh and the ongoing crackdown against the opposition in the province.

He invited the youth to join the team in order to convey his message of real freedom door to door. “Imran Tigers will be the passionate youth of my country who will take my message to every nook and corner of the country,” he said in a video statement.

GUJAR KHAN: Justifying his decision to hold political rallies at a time when the country was devastated by floods, PTI chairman Imran Khan on Saturday said that he was waging a fight for “haqeeqi azadi” (real freedom), which will continue during heatwaves, floods and even wars.

Addressing a public gathering in Jhe*lum, the former prime minister cen*su*red his rivals for what he claimed was ‘a planned campaign against the PTI’.

“A massive campaign is being run through newspapers, friendly media, journalists and one particular media house that always protects the thieves. They are saying that this is not the time to hold rallies.”

However, Mr Khan, denied that he was indulging in politics at a time of tragedy and instead called it a “fight for haqeeqi azadi”.

“I am waging war against these thieves who looted the country for 30 years. I am fighting for the supremacy of law. I am fighting for a country which was supposed to be an Islamic welfare state.

Calls out his opponents for running campaign against PTI; says party ‘not out to derail IMF programme’; announces telethon for flood victims; forms committee under Sania Nishtar to disburse relief funds

“I will keep helping my people, but I will not spare you,” he said, referring to his opponents.

Taking a jibe at the government, Mr Khan said that he is being asked not to hold rallies during floods, but the government continues to ‘push the country’s largest political party against the wall.’

“A terrorism case has been filed against me. They even came to arrest me. This news was reported all over the world. They called Pakistan a banana republic. We were mocked.”

“I only said that those who had tortured Shahbaz Gill should be tried as per law,” he said, asking whether he committed terrorism by saying this.

He also alleged that a certain Mr Y has been tasked with threatening the PTI in Islamabad and warned them that such attempts would be tantamount to treason.

Mr Khan also censured Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Finance Minister Miftah Isamail for alleging that the PTI intended to derail the IMF loan programme.

Addressing the incumbent government, he said, when he left power, inflation was 16 per cent, now it is at 45pc.

“They [the current government] have devastated the economy, but today Miftah [Ismail] says the PTI wants to derail the economy.”

He claimed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa finance minister has been asking for a meeting with Mr Ismail for the past two months.

Now, the KP finance minister was rightly apprehensive of managing a surplus budget when the province has suffered losses of billions due to flood, Mr Khan said.

“Our people are in distress from Swat, Chitral and Gilgit Baltistan to Sindh and Balochistan. Every area is under water,” he said.

He added that the scale of devastation is so big that the government alone couldn’t provide the relief unless the entire nation comes together.

During his visit to flood-hit areas of DI Khan on Friday, Mr Khan had said that although he was under pressure to collect funds for the victims, he would not do it unless transparency is assured.

He also said that he could not collect funds for the KP, as he had to collect donations for Shaukat Khanum Hospital, NUML University and Al-Qadir University.

However, on Saturday, he changed his tune, saying he was gathering a force of volunteers to help the provincial government.

“...on Monday evening, I will conduct a telethon to gather funds from Pakistanis and overseas Pakistanis and give the funds to Punjab and KP governments.” A committee headed by Dr Sania Nish*tar would oversee the disbursement of the funds, he said.

He also criticised the past governments for not constructing dams, claiming that the current devastation could have been averted if there were more reservoirs.

Ikram Junaidi in Islamabad also contributed to this report.
