England opener Jason Roy has accused fast bowler Wahab Riaz of ball-tampering and clashed during a Pakistan Super League match here, throwing the PSL into fresh controversy.

Sarfaraz Ahmed, the captain of Quetta Gladiators team whom Roy is representing in the league, confirmed that a clash had taken place between the two players.

The incident took place during the 17th over of Gladiators' innings.

"Roy asked Wahab whether he had made the ball properly to gain reverse swing. The Pakistani pacer reacted angrily and argued before Sarfaraz intervened to diffuse the situation," a source said.

In their match report, the Quetta Gladiators had pointed out that the condition of the ball was changed, but did not name anyone.

"They basically said in the report that the cricket board and match officials should keep a close watch on the condition of the ball," he added.

Sarfaraz said that his team had followed the protocol but also insisted that the incident should not be blown out of proportion.

"Look these things happen in cricket when there is intense competition between the players," he said.

Riaz could be cheating here, but one thing will never change; Poms will always cry when ball is reversing. They closed their mouth shut when Jones did reverse it big time during Ashes, but with Andersson and Broad getting old they don’t have many who can master this art.

And on top of that wahab was somehow bowling ten times better than rahat ali

The gladiators seem bitter and torn and like they're losing their identity
They're known for their maximums but the peshawar bowling was too good for then
And afterwards kamran akmals batting took the game away from them

Theres no right or wrong here
The protest by jason Roy is rightfully his human rights
And the protest of the protest by wahab is upto him too

PCB confirms no complaint received from Gladiators

Karachi, 24 February 2020:

The Pakistan Cricket Board today confirmed match referee Roshan Mahanama has not received an official complaint from Quetta Gladiators against Peshawar Zalmi for changing the condition of the ball during their 22 February fixture in the HBL Pakistan Super League 2020 at the National Stadium on Saturday.

As per article 3.2, clause 3.2.2 of the HBL PSL 2020 Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, official complaint has to be filed by the team manager and submitted to the match referee within 48 hours from the end of the match.

However, no complaint has been filed and the 48-hour window is now closed.

PCB Chief Executive Wasim Khan said: “We are aware that a statement on changing the condition of the ball has been made without providing any concrete evidence or lodging a formal complaint through the correctly stated procedure.

“In this case, this should have been submitted to the match referee by 6pm on Monday, 24 February. Such irresponsible statements without formal follow-up will only effect the integrity of the event and cast doubts on international cricketers, and, as such, I request the players to use caution and show responsibility.

“We have an excellent panel of umpires who, as per the playing conditions, are carrying out due diligence during matches. If they will spot any artificial or unnatural interference with the ball, they will act as per the Code.

“I request all participants to uphold the spirt of the game and to focus solely on cricket. This is the first complete HBL PSL 2020 taking place in Pakistan and like every Pakistan cricket fan, we wish this to be a memorable 32 days for all the right reasons.”

Notes to Editors:

Article 3.2 reads as: “All Reports must be completed on Form “Rep 1” (or such other form as may be made available for such purpose by the PSL from time to time). All Reports must be signed and dated by the person lodging the Report.”

So no complaints. It means that it was just intense competition on the field and this such words to rile up opposition.

I personally like bit of heat and rivalry as it gives much intensity to the matches and competition as a whole as far as its within the limits. Accusations should be avoided though.
