Rashid Latif replies to Virender Sehwag, clarifies his comments [update #565]

So hopefully we are not going to see MEANINGLESS words from Sehwag anymore. ;-)

I don't mind what he says but problem is he was crossing the limit just listen to his Hindi commentary and you will see what i am saying

Sehwag is like shaz619 on this forum...good case study here-he opened a troll thread...some got offended ,some took it for what it was...thread backfired...but it didn't effect him because the intention was just to troll,he laughed it off...in the end no one got too worked up and took it for what it's worth.

Similarly Sehwag must be relishing this kind of a response as his mission is accomplished.

Latif looked like a total "a word that will be deleted by mods" in this episode.

He used everything from Taj Mahal to Hashim Amla to Tahir :)) atleast Sehwag makes claims how he personally ended Saqlain's career or destroyed Shoaib...Latif has to take solace in others :))

I would say, sehwag exposed the real nature of latif in front of the world, it takes years to build an image and just a moment to shatter it, latif did just that, it's a win for sehwag, he made latif lose his dignity in front of the world, Sehwag 1, Latif 0 :yk

Someone had to give it back to Sehwag.Even many Indians don't like his so called jokes nowadays, though the manner in which Rashid was speaking was not great but I loved it.The battle Sehwag vs Rashid will remain on as if India qualifies and Pak fails then Sehwag will surely say something and vice versa

This wasn't the right way to get back at Sehwag, who actually made comments in a sarcastic way that hit you. Latif however was just spitting pure venom here and this was not needed at all. Sehwag did deserve a reply but at most a sarcastic way of saying what you need to say is a much better approach than this. I'm disappointed in seeing this.

As if Sehwag is much respected, both are mad,the question is who is more mad.Sehwag has been speaking nonsense since last 2-3 years Rashid has just started it.So.....

Rofl when both of these will end up in Indian parliament than you'll probably understand the level of india and what suits them.
MilkyWay

Which planet you live in sir, ther is no existence of mutual respect by Indians for any Pakistani, if someone says so he is making u a fool.

have u ever seen a cricket match in ground? i have been around globe watching Pak v India in SL, England, Aus, southafrica and always found that before and after the game, they r quiet friendly.....

Latif is exposed for sure after his tirade in that video. Instead of limiting the discussion to Cricket, he went on about religion, history, Najaf Shah etc. Cringeworthy part is, he attempted to take the credit for Taj Mahal, Nizamuddin etc.

Wonder how he faces Indian cricketers if he has to in the future with a straight face.

As if Sehwag is much respected, both are mad,the question is who is more mad.Sehwag has been speaking nonsense since last 2-3 years Rashid has just started it.So.....

Sehwag never went on about religion or Islamic history etc. He limited the trolling to cricket.

Latif got rattled and spoke utter trash.

Agree, just went through the twitter accounts of the team Game on Hai and it looks like they were waiting for Ind to lose so that they can start bashing Sehwag, they were hurt by his statements, which they shouldn't have been as no one should take Sehwag seriously.

Latif simply could have said Pak owns India in head to head record, so baap-beta does not apply. He could easily shut Sehwag.

Instead he stooped to cringeworthy levels and exposed his bigotry in front of the world.

Agree he spoke utter trash but Sehwag was speaking too much about Baap,Beta,Pota which is very disrespectful and he is a big player but he always looks for cheap publicity.Rashid went a bit too much, but knowing Sehwag he will reply utter trash too, just wait if Ind beats S.A

Sehwag attacked 2 nations. Latif attacked Sehwag only.

Don't know why indian posters here are crying. These same posters were rejoicing sehwag's comments. Now when you get some back, have the balls to listen to it.

3rd Grade player of 8th ranked team. Sehwag should just ignore him.

This is going to be the reaction of trolls everytime India or Pakistan wins or loses.

There are extreme characters on both sides of the border that really spout nonsense and get under people's skins

Twitter and other online media have become playground for such people to spread hatred and animosity and makes life difficult for normal people wanting to lead and enjoy normal lives.

As long as such people keep spreading their venom there will never be peace. Best thing to do is to ignore and avoids these trolls and live in peace.

Sigh! Wishful thinking I guess...

Rashid didn't have to do this video and I am a little embarrased by the whole affair but shewag absolutely deserves what was coming, it's not just about what he said for the ind v pak clash in this tournament, it's what he has been saying for AGES, it's not as if he has made a one off comment and stopped, he has gone on and on and on and on with his spiteful comments and no signs of let up and that's where the problem lies, he doesn't know when he has crossed the boundaries and he has done so, so many times and let's not even pretend that he hasn't.

That said just cos shewag is an idiot doesn't mean to say anyone else has too. I'm not defending rashid but shewag is just a bully and now he is talking about "meaningful silence" as if he is capable of that.

Great response from Sir Rashid Latif and shame on the likes of Wasim and Shoaib who kept silent for their selfish interests. Sehwag deserved a punch on his face for insulting a whole nation and Rashid has done exactly that.As he said this is just "tamheed". Sehwag would regret the day he opened his filthy mouth against Pakistan.

I said most Indian and Pakistani fans keep the banter in good taste...if you had bad experiences with Indian posters sure you could have said a lot more Indian posters are crude but you said unlike Indian fans stereotyping an entire country...so who is twisting logic here???

Anyways do you support what Latif said?

That is far from the truth. Both like to throw filth at each other. Immature fans from both sides.

Well done Rashid Latif. Glad he shut that troll up who has been trolling Pakistan for a while. Shame that when a Pakistani trolls back the Indians can't take it. If you can't take it then don't give it.
Sehwag took this too far by keep bringing Pakistan and it's people in his trolls. I Would smashed his face if I met him. Easy to troll on social media come and show this troll face to face and you will know.

What Latif said is not trolling. Its called bigotry.

Flawed logic. Rashid's language was from the gutter, agreed. Sehwag disrespected two nations while Rashid praised his own history (according to his personal understanding of history). Why do u think one is acceptable and other is not? Forget the foul language by rashid for a moment here, that was pathetic no doubt.

Some of Sehwags comments is bigotry too. It's easy to be a nationwide hero in India. Just abuse Pakistan and Pakistani people but when someone responds back you Indians have a breakdown.

whats was all that stuff about digging up your dead parents graves? Rashid is a complete idiot, how can anyone defend him in this situation.

Sehwag limited trolling to cricket. A cricket team in Pakistan.

Latif went on about Islam, Muslim's gifting great buildings to Hindus.....

Big difference. Keep it to cricket and it would have been apt.

How is saying we left you Tajmahal praising his own history? How is there even a logic to the argument...I mean if that is the history that is taught or his understanding of it then all I can do is :))

off topic but Shahjahan ruled India, Taj Mahal was not built in Karachi and imported to India,it was built in Agra in India...if he is implying Muslims built Tajmahal so they own it there are almost an equal number of Muslims in India-so what's his point here?

Then he says Amla and Tahir-they are all inter related no matter what spin you put on it.

Yes I agree his language was in poor taste but his logic or his intentions was even worse

Simple logic of all this NONSENSE..
"Latif for Chairman"
"Sehwag for Coach"
Too easy to understand.

Sehwag deserved it. He took it far and glad someone from Pakistan had the balls to reply instead of trying to be all dignified. Well done Rashid Latif. And tell your Sehwag talk to Rashid Latif face to face he will show him who's beta.

No sehwag didnt keep it to cricket. Whenever he spoke he spoke of Pakistan and Bangladesh. He said Pakistan is a baingan and Indians will make bharta of Pakistan. He said India is the father of Pakistan. And grand daddy of Bangladesh. Practicing with pota to play against Beta.

Rashid never used the words Islam, hindus vs muslims. You're just implying it. Rather it was India vs Pak which was quite evident from the way he spoke. Like sehwag tried to prove India's superiority against Pakistan, Rashid tried to prove the opposite. If u think Rashid said something against hindus, the same can be said against sehwag that whatever he said was against muslims because Pakistan is 97% muslims. Implied logics dont work unless rashid confesses that his comments were communal.

Well said. But Indians worship Sehwag as he is a national hero as he has been trolling Pakistan in every opportunity he gets. As always when some responds back they can't take it and come up with random excuses.

Yes we can laugh at his claims. Thats about it.

Naming Amla and tahir doesnt prove anything. Infact they are the ones in form and carrying SA team in this tournament while the likes of ABD,FAF, RABADA etc bave been below par. You are spinning it to make it fit your narrative.

lol naming amla and tahir doesn't prove anything? And you are accusing the other guy of spinning the narrative :yk, why are you deliberately acting so naive? Trying to hard to defend your man here :srini

Maybe for Indians it's not a big deal if someone claims to be their father, maybe it's a norm there and they hear such claims all the time.. but we don't.

For us it's an insult and when you do that, well RL's message is the perfect response.

Some idiotic Indians think words have no consequences. The guy who abused Inzi in Toronto learnt a lesson the hard way and now it's Liquid Form's turn.

You guys can claim all about dragging this and that in was wrong and whatever, but it started with an insult and it got a *** for tat response, so stop being babies and take it like men.

What Latif said the "bhare ke tattoo" never would. :wasim :akhtar

Although, I don't agree with some of the language used, you need someone to stoop to that level with geedars like Sehwag.

Trolling aside, he disrespected his own captain last night in the comm box and seems like Ganguly wasn't to happy about it either.

I guess the lack of education and still wanting to be relevant after being kicked out of your own team takes a toll on ones ability to remain sane.

Sehwag went overboard with his bigoted comments on BD/Pak /SL as countries, now the takla deserves all the crap coming his way.

Liquid form wants to be the next coach of India so can liquify the whole team! 😄

I am sure everybody at bcci HQ was laughing when they received his application.

No it doesnt prove a thing.

You think he should have first thought about which players' names would sound secular to Indian Ppers and then name them? He named the two top SA players of this tourney 1 of whom is a Pakistani by birth. Long story short, you have assumptions, "feelings", guesses about his intentions but no concrete proof. Zero zilch nada. End of.

You know what mate the way you are trying to prove Rashid didn't bring in religion in between reminds me of how cricketjoshila argues in time pass section on various issues.. It's ironic really since he uses the same line of arguments on the Kashmir issue and you are on the other side of that normally..

Bhai Saab, Sehwag was talking Baap, Beta, Pota, Baingan ka Bartha in cricketing terms.

Latif was full of bigoted sheet.

If you cannot see the difference then no point in arguing.

islamic follower have just islam on their mind
they will include it everywhere
no surprises

Also can u answer 1 question.

For a moment if i concede that whatever rashid said was against hindus, why do you think thats not acceptable? Verbally abusing religion and hurting people's feelings this way is NOT okay but verbally abusing 2 sovereign nations and hurting people's feeling that way is okay??

Posted this in some other thread, merits it here too I guess -

First, no one is trying to prove anything here, pretty much every one knows where he's coming from. Secondly, just like you said, he didn't think before naming 2 saffer players, he instantly said imran and amla because those are the 2 players most pakistanis are attached to because of religion, we all know how popular amla is among pakistani fans. And it's alright, he can think whatever he wants to but you trying to play the devil's advocate by claiming that latif didn't name those because of their religion is highly amusing to see. Even you don't genuinely believe that latif wasn't religiously motivated when he said imran and amla, given the whole tone of the video, if you genuinely believe what you then I am truly amazed at your naivety :srini

Latif was full of bigoted sheet.

If you cannot see the difference then no point in arguing.

Sehwag was trolling the nation of Pakistan by calling them Beta not once but many times he has said stuff about Pakistan. Trolling the Pakistan cricket team isn't a big issue but not trolling the nation of Pakistan and calling them your beta and other cheap stuff.
Rashid Latif clearly said in his response that he is only directing all this to Sehwag only not India and it's nation. And clearly said he respects India and it's player and mentioned their names. This reply was direct to only Sehwag for keep on trolling abusing Pakistan everywhere.

Baap beta pota is not cricketing terms. Its abusive. Why didnt he say India is mother of Pakistan? Also You know the political history of your country and of its disintegration . I dont need to remind you of that angle.

Anyway i think i have argued enough on this.

Again nothing of note. Same old "oh but in his heart he was being pro muslim and anti hindu". Carry on with it. It has no end then.

Qinton de Kock, ABD, Faf, Miller are their best limited over players. Not performing in last match does not decrease their standard any lower.

Moral of the story is give respect, get respect... disrespect you get liquified..or face the full bat on your behind like the guy in Toronto.

This thread should be closed by the MODs or else some of us may go all RL mode here.

many pakistani ex cricketers like basit ali or amir sohail like hindu taj mahal ki ticket bechke gujara krte..or rashid latif or many many ex cricketers openly abuse hindus, their news anchors like mubashir lucman or amir liaqauat or many or even comedians or even actors like saba qamar who said pakistanis should watch hindi medium movie because she did movie with muslim actor and many other cases where they openly literally abuse hindus in media. As i am punjabi and due to same language somehow sometimes tend to watch their punjabi comedy shows so i literally get surprised, whenever i watch and listen these things in open.
In india apart from right wings, we dnt even think to hear these things. They literally beg to play series with us and show us hindus get begging of money because of tajmahal. i am glad we dnt need any relation literally with them. They take religion to another level.

Qinton de Kock, ABD, Faf, Miller are their best limited over players. Not performing in last match does not decrease their standard any lower.

Pick up the scorecards of this CT please. Not just last match.

I have a different question here. Now two players mentioned were Tahir and Amla. I can understand about Tahir but Amla has Gujarati roots, I really don't understand how can he claim Amla as Pakistani in his hypothetical opposition to India? Amla is as Indian as it gets.

Pick up the scorecards of this CT please. Not just last match.

Dnt even think to defend, we all are educated and have brain enough to understand what did he intend to say...He said it openly. No surprise indians do not have sympathy with most of kashmiris.Religious angle everywhere.

Brother first of all two wrongs never make a right, whatever Sehwag had said in the past which was below the belt and wrong he should also be condemned for it and called out..

But in this instance the baap is not used as derogatory it's used as a form of banter.. Read my post where I tagged you earlier it shows it was in form of banter and Rashid could have easily replied we have better record to you head to head we are your baap.. Or who was the baap when you received all the humiliation in Sharjah.. you know stuff like that..

Actually apart from the bigoted part in his speech I think he actually replied well to Sehwag reminding him of defeats and liquid form etc I don't mind Sehwag called that on himself..

But when he tries to use the religion card and brings in monuments, Amla, Tahir and what not he comes across as a bigot.. Which totally defeats the purpose of "cricketing fights/trolling"

Hope I made my point clear if you still don't get it I can't explain it in simpler terms and we would have to agree to disagree...

Calling someone beta are potah is an insult I agree. There is a lot of other ways to express the anger but this gutter level language from Pakistani ex cricketer irrespective of religion is what we are criticising tbh.

We dont need your sympathy. Keep it for yourselves and no need to get personal. I have an opinion and i am standing by it. That doesnt make me a religious nut job or something. You dont like it, you can disagree with it.

Havent i criticised him enough already for his language? I thought that was evident by now, at least to you who i have discussed it at length with. You know the ONE point on which i am disagreeing with some posters here.

Then we have a disagreement on the very fundamental part of it. You think he said baap and beta in cricketing terms but Imo baap and beta and pota was used in a particular politico-historical context here. Calling Bangladesh pota made everything crystal clear. And he has time and again reiterated this thing. You must be very naive to think otherwise.

Let me make one thing clear for the 100th time, I never agreed that sehwag's statements warranted the type of response rashid gave him. That was classless.

Rashid latif cud have replied troll like sehwag in a better way. he seriously used filth language and some are really supporting this.

Where have i defended his statements on tajmahal?

Jumma (because its more of a cultural thing) and naming of players, yes.

And i dont give two hoots whether you were surprised or not. I dont come here to surprise you. I will carry on with what i have to. You take care.

Oh yea he meant it in historical/political context no doubt but I don't think that's it's a big insult I find it as a form of banter..

Maybe it's because I have grown up in Delhi and we use such terms like Tera baap hu mai in fights amongst friends or when someone Is trolling me I would say "saale baap se aise baat karte hai?" You know stuff like that..

So I did not find it to be that big of an insult that someone would take it to their heart and go on a rant against him, since it's common usage in Delhi..

And not just Delhi even other people say USA is daddy of XYZ or Use the very popular phrase whose your daddy?

So I thought it was pre match banter but Rashid just ruined it by taking it to war zone..

Pick up the scorecards of this CT please. Not just last match.

Faf scored 26 against Pak and 75 against Srilanka.
Amla 16 against Pak and 103 against Srilanka.

Combining those 2 matches,
Morkel scored 5 wickets and
Imran Tahir scored 4.

AB and De Kock can destroy any opposition on their day. Don't think there is need for proof for that. May be RL is seeing what we all are failing to see.

There you go. Now you see that its a cultural thing. Some take offence to it and some dont. i personally think he shouldnt have taken so much offence to it and jumped into gutter. There is only one point i am disagreeing on i.e. him being communal. But hey we can agree to disagree.

many pakistani ex cricketers like basit ali or amir sohail like hindu taj mahal ki ticket bechke gujara krte..or rashid latif or many many ex cricketers openly abuse hindus, their news anchors like mubashir lucman or amir liaqauat or many or even comedians or even actors like saba qamar who said pakistanis should watch hindi medium movie because she did movie with muslim actor and many other cases where they openly literally abuse hindus in media.

Sab say zyada mirchain to Amir Liaquat say lagi hongi na :ghalib:ghalib:ghalib

Cuz he absolutely wrecked Indian media

Faf scored 26 against Pak and 75 against Srilanka.
Amla 16 against Pak and 103 against Srilanka.

Combining those 2 matches,
Morkel scored 5 wickets and
Imran Tahir scored 4.

AB and De Kock can destroy any opposition on their day. Don't think there is need for proof for that. May be RL is seeing what we all are failing to see.

We can agree or disagree on who made what impact in this CT to go along with these stats. This discussion is getting very silly and pointless now lol

I guess that's why in my first post I mentioned desis take things too seriously.. Even if I were to agree with you he didn't mean to sound communal or wasn't being communal I would say he is just stupid with claiming everything a Muslim has done just because he shares religion with them.. So his comments about Taj Mahal etc being a gift are just stupid and ignorant..

End of.

Spin it the way you like. Clearly Rashid gave religious tone to his frustrated blaberring. Sehwag's comments were disliked by most Indians this time. Everyone agreed he went overboard.

whats was all that stuff about digging up your dead parents graves? Rashid is a complete A..hole, how can anyone defend him in this situation.

Agreed, it was that moment I felt he crossed the line and went just too personal. It may be long row to hoe for some Pakistani fans to realise that how pathetic it is to even utter such things about someone's dead parents.

Anyways, give it a month and people will probably laugh looking back at it. But sehwag made Rashid to show his ugly side, we all have one depends on how well you are able to hide it.

I wholeheartedly agree with everything in this post.

What anyone will do by digging parents graves?

Okay. I am too tired to argue now. :) lets just say Rashid shouldnt have stooped so low. Thats where we all agree.

In this incident 100% of the blame lies with Rashid..

Sub continent desi people seem to lack a sense of humour and get easily offended.. You call people from WI names and make racist jokes about them through your comedy shows and in life in general however if someone says anything about you, you feel offended and start blabbering pure filth.. People need to learn to take jokes as jokes and not get offended by any joke cracked by someone else.. If someone cracks a light hearted joke why do you think they are insulting your country/religion/caste etc.. Desis are the worst hypocrites and have got the worst sense of humour on the entire planet..

Sehwag might have made some bad comments in the past but this time he was just hyping the match and taking light hearted digs.. Even shaz619 started a thread to hype up the match which some Indians found insulting? Wth is wrong with you people why do people have to take everything on their egos and ruin the light hearted fun banter we should have in cricket?

Rashid's comments are pretty much filth, he brings in a religious tone here and comes across as someone who got insulted by Sehwag's comments and has taken it into a war zone type mode.. Now you would see a lot of On game on hai the host will agree with Rashid and his comments and would say he gave a "FITTING REPLY" to India. And Sehwag.. Some if not most of Pakistani awaam will agree with What Rashid said and will see it as a battle won by Rashid for Pakistan against evil India(Sehwag)..

I don't think there can ever be friendship between both the countries till people have such hatred against each other that they take jokes cracked by the other to their heart and resort to a battle/war type retaliation.. If the same joke was cracked up by a britisher it wouldn't have offended Pakistani's so much so as when it was cracked up by Sehwag..

Sorry to say but anyone who thinks India and Pakistan can be friends ever is just delusional and this incident proves the underlying issue which lies amongst the populace of both the countries.. We are raised to see the other side as an enemy and you can see that everywhere over the Internet..

NOTE: I am not defending some of the things Sehwag might have said in the past but purely talking about this particular incident..

What you see on the internet is the controversy caused by the most hot-headed members of each group. Loud and intolerant people become visible and tolerant and friendly ones don't.

I have plenty of Pakistani friends and they've all been extremely pleasant and hospitable (and they can take a few gentle jokes about the cricket matches too). As can the friends I have from Srilanka and Bangladesh. Ultimately, I personally would always support fellow desis over the Westerners...can't account for tensions being inflamed by a few of the most irresponsible.

Also note, my personal view is that governments of both countries do things they shouldn't for political reasons. At the moment at a governmental level things complicate peaceful relations, but perpetual enmity won't help anyone.

Just saw this again, and I really think Rashid went 10 steps further down the gutter than Sehwag did. Sehwag was rude, condescending, an idiot...but he kept it to cricket. Latif took it to a whole new dimension of indecency.

I for one can't support this...and I fail to see how/why other Pakistanis in this thread are so giddy about this video. It's shameful.

Yes. Sehwag is a motor mouth and Rashid showed his ugly side. And we can ignore both and focus on important things in the world. :))
