[VIDEO] Talent Spotter : Zafar Gohar

Most spinners mature by mid 20's and are at best from late 20 to early 30's Zafar is I believe a solid half season away from test selection

Then I guess you didn't see him bowl today.
 
Bowled really well today, the pitch was helping him out but had way, way, way more control than Raza Hasan for example. Looked threatening throughout.

Outbowled Bilal Asif as well. Though Asif appears to still have potential, just not the same control as Gohar atm.
 
Messaged me to say he's put plenty of hard yards since the end of the previous domestic season.

Although Misbah is good when it comes to appreciating the value of spinners, he likes his oldies like he did with Zulfiqar Babar and now with the "29 year old" Iftikhar Ahmed.
 
Tauseef Ahmed was a major roadblock for him when he was in the selection committee under Inzi. Now that he doesn’t have any influence, Zafar’s chances of being selected are much more promising.

Misbah even called him to the pre season camp last month, I think he's on the radar.

Iftikhar is mainly a batsmen, his bowling will just fill in some overs here and there.

What a timely performance by him .He is almost certain for next test series and his inclusion will vastly improve our spin department in test

When i saw at the U19 level, he looked destined to the top- he bowled at a good speed( which the other spinner in the team Kamran Ghulam didnt), he spun the ball and had enough of a drop. When i saw him last year, he had forgotten how to spin the ball sharply and there was no drop. His action to me seemed too round arm compared to his U19 days. He can still make and i am hoping that he does.

He was coming back from a pretty bad shoulder injury last year. You should see his spell from the last game and see whether things have changed or not.

Agreed, let's also take a look at the upcoming talent like Rohail Nazir etc. We can have a superstar team if we give chances to the players that deserve it. Enough of this TTF and seniority nonsense.

It would be great to see him become the bowler that he had promised to be. I havent seen him bar the odd snippet on youtube, and it was difficult to tell because of the quality of the cameras although he did take wickets.

He's had some injury problems too which have not been handled very well by the PCB medics.

Recurrent theme with so many of our players. Is there any indication of the medical team being overhauled under the new management?

1st innings: 0/31 in 13 overs
2nd innings : 3/93 in 25 overs
 
It is freaking beyond me how this guy is not in the damn national team. How blind do you have to be? Zafar is a straight up match-winner. If Zafar had been given as long a run as mediocre Shadab, he'd be world class by now.
 
Watch out for an upcoming interview with Zafar very soon.

Misbah called him up for the camp in August. He's probably under Misbah's radar, as he has a good eye for spinners.

Yeah I don't know why. But Zafar has been playing very well in the QEA matches this season , ODI team was selected just when that started. His performances should get him into the team now though.
Actually it's probably good that he didn't play vs SL, gets to play our proper domestic cricket system and perform.

One is getting useful experiences in competitive FC matches, improving his batting and bowling. The other is carrying drinks on the bench.

I know which one I'd prefer for Gohar. And no, he wouldn't play over Shadab in LOI.

Azhar seems very impressed by Zafar Gohar as he’s been tweeting about him so it looks like he’ll be selected as the second spinner.
