I struggle to find out why people hype this guy so much. They apparently say he bowls 140kph and with aggression. But the lad was hardly hitting the 125kph mark, that too in a t20. His bowling had no swing or sting in it. He was bowling dollies the whole time. Very unimpressed.

lol only stats merchants rate him. Anyone who had seen his bowling in a televised domestic one day or T20 match knew he was a 125kph bowler who has no future with the white ball.

Because Wasim anointed him as his successor.

He along with usman shinwari and rumman raees are really over rated on this forum.shaheen is the one who should play in national team instead of rumman , usman and junaid khan.

Who rates him? People wanted him to get an opportunity so that they can see him bowl at a competitive level.

Honestly most of the time when people ask for a selection they aren't hyping him or saying he is the next best thing they just want him given a proper chance so they can see whether he is actually any good or not. A lot better strategy than to stick with the TTFs. What if Hamza had turned out to be a gem? The thread would be titled "Why wasn't Hamza selected before?". People will keep asking for the top domestic performers until they see them perform on a competitive level such as the PSL and A-team or tour matches.

Same case has been with Sahibzada. I myself wanted him in the PSL and A-team matches not because I thought he was the next big thing but because I wanted to see if there was any real substance behind those domestic performances. He definitely has flaws but he has also shown good potential.

Good post , I completely agree with.

After costing Quetta Gladiators a spot in the final with his poor match awareness in not taking the second run against Zalmi, he should not be allowed anywhere near the national team. If he could not display match awareness in a PSL match then what hope does he have at international level?

There is a tendency to hype new players on this forum. When they play on Television we realize that they were no good.

So because you wanted to see him bowl; a PSL franchise should pay him thousands of dollars :s

I saw quite a few trundlers in this PSL. Irfan jr, this Hamsa, azar Ali, sameen Gul, umaid, etc all in the mould of our great Siraj.

Sameen Gul hit 140+ a few times. Generally bowls in the mid-to-high 130’s.

Irfan junior bowls at 140 clicks... albeit poorly. Sameen also bowled outstandingly last two games and is a kid.

Hamza and anwar are extremely poor bowlers. Umaid is decent at this level but not international class.

Well if you can spend thousands of dollars on Shafiq....

As a franchise owner obviously you want to spend your money wisely I have simply put forth the fans perspective. They want to see the top performers and up and coming stars play at a competitive level because they want to be able to judge players better.

I can safely say that we have several bowlers better than this guy irfan.

A left-armer from Karachi, with a decent FC record (albeit below average List-A, T20 stats) was a dream come true for us Karachiites, so we over-hyped him. Personally, I only wanted to try him in tests, but it seems a long-shot now.
