I really like Shadab's energy and insights. He has not performed great as of late in franchise cricket, but he is a class and big-match-player and i'm sure he will step it up when it matters most in the Asia cup / World Cup
On Shadab in Tests -- He could be a handy test player, but he would need to work on his batting a bit. I reckon he should stick to the limited overs format and not overburden himself
 
It's sad that Shadab could not make a name for himself in Tests.

Saj did ask him about FC cricket which he needs to play to get into Tests and he said he has no "narazgee" or objections to it.

In a sense I sympathize with him as he stated that he is very often playing with the white-ball national side during time when FC season is in progress. Also agree with him when he says that he wants to be included in the national side on basis of solid FC performances and not because he's done well in white-ball cricket!

Of course he's got the right to earn a living, but unfortunately he will never improve or stop this downward spiral of performances by playing every league under the sun.

I would currently select Usama Mir ahead of him.
 
Great insights and love his realism about winning on the ground rather than on paper. Good to see boys giving thoughts on how to deal with the favourties tag

No one would mind him playing leaugue cricket in England or Australia (meaning 2 per year). This would give him time to work on his game/fitness. Now he is playing every single T20 circus game available.
 
Cricket in both India and Pakistan has a rich history, and players from both countries are exposed to similar conditions while growing up. This means that Pakistani players have experience playing on similar pitches, which might make it easier for them to adapt to Indian conditions.

Brought the team back into the match when all looked lost.

1. Bowling
2. Batting
3. Fielding
4. Running between wickets
5. Captain material, better than Babar, Imad and Rizwan.

Bowled well today.

Kept things simple and didn't try to be too fancy.

Looks at his best when he doesn't try too many different things with the ball.
 
Vital part of the group in the coming months for the Asia Cup and World Cup.

If he has good tournaments, Pakistan will be in the thick of it when it comes to winning both trophies.

Yes the opposition wasn't the strongest, but it's good to see him with good numbers in the wickets column lately.
 
We won't win the World Cup if Shadab bowls like this - needs to get his line sorted soon
 
he's generally a great middle over bowler. It's ok for him to have an off bad day with the ball
hopefuly he makes up for it with the bat
 
Alarming decline. But what do you expect when he plays in every T20 leauge around the world. Does he even work on his game?

I won't label this as Shadab's decline. He is a match-winner and while today wasn't his day we shouldn't overlook the many matches he has helped us win.

Which matches against top sides?
his numbers are not good. He only plays T20 cricket most of the time.
 
for wonning this WC u need to become more consistent with ball my dear shady.

T20 cricket has spoiled most of our players.
 
Our chances of winning this World Cup are high as long as we maintain the Nawaz and Shadab combo and substitute Agha Salman with a proper batsman. Otherwise, there's a risk of an early exit, possibly even in the first round or semi-finals.
 
I still maintain that our bowlers can win Pakistan the World Cup, but the key is the batting.

Rizwan and Babar are the key, they just need support from the likes of Imam, Ifthi etc. If these guys can provide enough support to Babar and Rizwan then Pakistan has a very good chance in India.
 
Team Pakistan has a good chance as no side will go as favourite this time. With bowling already covered, if Babar stays in Good form, good chances to come out as world champions.
 
It is all up to you bro as you must bowl well in order for this sone pe suhaga to happen.
 
Shadab is the weak link, since he is the so called specialist spinner. He has not improved at all last few years. His focus is only T20 circus cricket. He is playing non stop leauge cricket. He has no idea how to bowl even in ODIs. Should be dropped asap.
 
Shadab will have to contend with a lot of criticism in the days to come. All depends on the PCB now to see if they can extricate themselves from this.

Recent form, Naseem Shah's injury, the pressure of playing in India - it all adds up to an average tournament for Pakistan I'm afraid.

Yes, it would be a great surprise if Pakistan is going to achieve this amazing feat but you can never be sure with Pakistan Cricket team.
 
Let's hope he regains the confidence because at the moment his confidence is shot and technically his bowling has always been a mess.

From sone pe suhaga to potentially being out of the pak team - it's been a full circle for Shadab
 
Shadab has had an awful World Cup.

He was probably one of Pakistan's big hopes at this tournament, but the reality is that most saw this coming due to his poor form and lack of first-class and 50 over cricket.

Needs to assess where he is going with his cricket.

Shadab is total waste of time, he bowl full toses and even laugh on it means no regret.
 
Most declining player i have seen. Even his fitness is so bad. Playing T20 cricket has destroyed him. Drop him and let him play FC cricket, otherwise let him go for good.

It's clear he's getting almost no drift at all. His stock legspinner didn't have big break anyway but as long as it was consistent in line it made his straighter one and googly effective.

Right now he has basically become reduced to right arm slow straight bowler who doesn't have great length control. Needs to get medical help to sort out his issue and work on recalibrating action.
 
He needs to rest up and fix all his injuries. I have heard he's been carrying a finger injury, a groin problem and a knee problem and he's been advised surgery and he's putting it off because it will mean a long time out of the game.

He needs to learn from Bhumra ie take as much time as needed to get back to full fitness and then come back.

And yes, needs to put in the hard yards in first class cricket and the PCB need to suspend all his Nocs.
 
Well, it reflects a lack of medical equipment and medical facilities at domestic tournament levels.

our dumb team management will select him for WC even injured as if he is Warne and we cant survive without him since we are so used to winning everything :rolleyes:

T20 is the remedy for any injury and the cure for any illness. Just watch how many of our cricketers get injured in the next two months of T20 leagues. Once they play against top teams especially Tests, the injuries return back.
 
Shadab Khan's struggle with form persists as he managed only 11 (9) for Desert Vipers against Abu Dhabi Knight Riders in ILT20 2024. A potential remedy for him could be engaging in red-ball cricket to regain form after rehabilitation.

Shadab Khan is going through a rough patch in his career,Today wasn't any different, he gave away 36 runs in just 3 overs and couldn't grab any wickets.
 
Shadab is 25 only on paper. More likely that he is around 28,29.

It is difficult for him to have a long format career with his current skill level and real age.

Should focus only on leagues and if he does well, he should be selected for the T20 World Cups in the future.

PCB cannot stop these sorts of cricketers from playing T20 leagues.

Its not a rough patch, its his level. By playing non stop T20 cricket he has regressed so much. Hope he never plays for Pak again.
 
Who did he have poor performance on such that he was able to leverage one decent PSL season into a 7 year free run in the Pakistan team?

Today agann Shadab Khan for Desert Vipers against Sharjah Warriors in ILT20 (0/25 in 2 overs) makes me think his form might be on the decline. I'm questioning why he chose this league over the President's Trophy 2023-24.
 
T20 leagues demand consistent performances, mediocrity will not be tolerated forever. T20 contracts are not guaranteed every year without match winning performances, Franchise cricket is a ruthless business.
