[VIDEOS] Abdul Wahid Bangalzai: Right-handed batter from Quetta

Playing in a tournament like the National T20 Cup will do him a lot of good.

TV cameras, a lot of interest, up against the best players in Pakistan, playing alongside some good players - it's win, win for him.

He can only get better.

Of course it does but if he cant handle pressure in this tournament its ganna take long time for him.i fink hes just nervous and didnt no if he was to attack or defend

Not everyone is born with the mentality of someone like Younis Khan or Haider Ali. Those are warrior types with exceptional mental strength.

Even Babar struggled earlier on.
Go watch how he fared for Islamabad Leopards when he started or even in PSL 1.

Some people expecting a 17 year old to be fully finished product ready for international debut from next week.

Give the kid a break. Pretty sure most of you hardly knew how to hold the bat properly at age 17. This is an excellent opportunity for him to learn and polish his talents.

Good on Wasim Khan for bringing a such a system that fosters talent. I recall the days of Alfah Bank T20 the same four five dozen players would be playing every year.

But he wasnt struggling not like he faced 10 balls for 2 he carelessly went down the wicket on his first ball and was in no mans land he should have got his eye in first

Couldn't have said it any better.
In regards with expecting a 17 year old to be a finished product.

This is just the beginning of what a professional life Wasim Khan can do for Pak cricket.
I hope he sticks around for few more years and doesn't get to be yet another victim of media mafia and jealous ex cricketers.

Agree that there is no problem in struggling early on, it happens.
But Babar was dropped immediately by then Captain Misbah ul Haq and not played again in the whole PSL. The pitches were quite unplayable in the start of PSL 1. But Misbah's poor eye for talent was always right and he dropped Babar.

Yes, Misbah did a Misbah, by being clueless once again, but the point I was trying to illustrate was that even the best have struggled at the start.

The mind just gets overwhelmed when you are new to this level, and you make stupid mistakes. This where your out-cricket and composure is so important.
However, it only comes with time.

Needs to pull his socks up a bit, out for 12 today

Recognition of his talent as now part of the Pak U19 tour of Bangladesh.

Good innings by Abdul Wahid Bangalzai - 58* - in a tricky run chase vs Southern Punjab

Set a 175-run target, Balochistan coasted home in 18.4 overs for the loss of two wickets only. Openers Abdul Wahid Bangalzai (player of the match) and Abdullah Shafique added 84 runs. Abdullah’s 44 included five fours and one six, the right-hander faced 28 balls.

Abdul Wahid posted the second T20 half-century of his young career, the right-hander had scored a fifty against the same side in their earlier clash that Balochistan had won by seven wickets.

Abdul Wahid’s 50 came off 42 balls and the right-hander hit seven exquisite fours before he was dismissed lbw by Aamer Yamin.

Should have been selected as 3rd opener for Pakistan A tour but could be blessing in disguise as FC runs count and Pakistan A runs don't count in Pakistan otherwise Adil amin who averages 79.50 for Pakistan A should have played ODI for Pakistan long time ago.

Made his FC debut today for Balochistan in the QeA 2021/22.

It's fine. I'd rather he be playing some first-class cricket. Just debuted today. There needs to be a process. I'm happy that they're at least trying to get a system of progression going here.

Lahore, 4 November 2021: 18-year-old Abdul Wahid Bangalzai stroked an unconquered maiden double-century at the home of Pakistan cricket during the second day’s play in a live-streamed third round action of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy on Thursday.

Abdul Wahid Bangalzai returned undefeated on 203 for Balochistan who declared their first innings against Discover Pakistan Central Punjab for 472 for eight. When bad light forced an early closure, Central Punjab were 37 for one with Test batters Abid Ali (12) and Azhar Ali (four) at the crease.

Abdul Wahid Bangalzai, the Quetta-born Pakistan U19 batter playing in just his third first-class match, had started the day at 93 in Balochistan’s 223 for four. The youngster batted for six hours and 28 minutes, and struck 24 fours and two sixes.

Together with Jalat Khan, Abdul Wahid Bangalzai added 167 runs for the seventh wicket. Jalat missed his third career century by nine runs when he was dismissed for 91, an innings that came off 117 balls and included 11 fours.

Absolutely awesome news, this is what is needed and missing from upcoming youngsters to kick on , and get to that 200 figure.

Good red-ball success but now the teenager will have to convert that to white-ball as he's been picked up by Quetta for PSL 7.

Huge flop so far at the ACC Under 19 Asia Cup with a string of low scores.

Don't understand why someone who has played in the country's premier domestic tournaments is struggling in u19s which is levels below fc .

The previous crop of imam , sami aslam and babar were absolute guns in u19 levels

Scores of 9, 0, 28 and 1 in the ACC Under 19 Asia Cup.

Abbas Ali has become part of the Pakistan under-19 squad in place of Abdul Wahid Bangalzai who has been ruled out due to suffering from COVID-19.

Made his PSL debut against United today in a very tough, basically impossible chase for a young debutant like him. He made 14 (12) with one six, he looked positive though. Overall it was nice and exciting to see Quetta Born Banglazai play for Quetta. I have high hopes for him

This guy is bang average won’t ever make it just not good enough and just another gully player

Was one of the standout players in the national t20 where he played for the weakest team Balochistan

He looked an amateur in comparison to Abdullah when they were batting and even in that tournament he was average at best. Still. Young man so no reason why he can’t improve.

Abdullah should be compared to Haider Ali,Hurraira.

At the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, half-centuries from Sharjeel Khan and Omair Bin Yousuf led Sindh to a six-wicket win over Balochistan. Batting first, Balochistan managed to score 209 for nine in 50 overs. The right-handed batter Abdul Wahid Bangalzai top-scored with an unbeaten 136 off 155, hitting nine fours and six sixes.

The commentator speaking in English first mis-named him as 'Fawad Bangalzai' then mis-named him again as 'Ahmad Bangalzai'. This joker does not belong to commentary box.

Has been playing well in crucial matches. Should be added to the additional list of players.

One for the future.

The story of Abdul Wahid Bangalzai is an example that anything can be achieved, only if you believe in your passion and then have the determination and resolve to pursue it with all the energy you have.

The Quetta-boy is chasing his dreams despite coming from a humble background. His father is a driver who took loan to buy him his first white playing kit. After representing Pakistan in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2020 and following a stellar 2021-22 domestic cricket season, he is now one of the 107 cricketers in the PCB’s Pathways Programme, which entitles the aspiring youngsters to monthly stipend of PKR30,000, education scholarship in an elite institution and coaching by international coaches at the National High Performance Centre.

“I didn’t have the spikes and I traveled to and from the ground by sitting on the roof of the bus as the ticket for that spot was cheaper. My dad did not have the money to buy a white kit for me to attend my first cricket camp, but he took loan from his friends to fulfill my first cricket wish.

“Today, after I have represented Pakistan in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2020 and ACC U19 Asia Cup, my father is a proud man. My goal now is to represent Pakistan men’s cricket team in all three formats of the game and make him prouder than ever before,” recalled Abdul Wahid Bangalzai while talking to PCB Digital.

The top-order batter had a phenomenal 2021-22 domestic season, which included an unbeaten 203 against defending champion Central Punjab in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy that made him the first batter from Balochistan to achieve the feat. He finished the tournament with 366 runs in eight first-class innings at an average of 61.

Abdul Wahid was the cornerstone of Balochistan’s maiden domestic title after he aggregated 497 runs in 12 Pakistan Cup matches. The 19-year-old also had success in the National T20 when he scored 232 runs.

“As son of a driver, we barely saw money. My dad earned around PKR13,000 and I remember going to bed without having dinner. I still remember words from my neighbours that the old man is working whole day and seeking loans, while Abdul Wahid has gone mad and is wasting his time on cricket!”

Abdul Wahid believes that the new PCB Pathways Programme has facilitated talented players from Balochistan to flourish in their careers and his inclusion in 107 aspiring young cricketers of PCB Pathways Programme will encourage them to improve their skills.

“It was not easy task for me to establish myself as a batter until the new structure came into existence. The players from Balochistan are now getting more opportunities through and the PCB Pathways Programme, which is making them more realistic, hardworking and committed.”

what a useless T20 player!

The wrong kind of talent being preferred and promoted!

Why can't the management and captain see that he's not a t20 player.

They are doing the same with a few players in Pakistan

Abdullah Shafique is also in his category

Haseebullah will soon be exposed too

Abdullah Shafique is way better than both of them but yes he's in the same category ish.

All three of them (Bangalzai included) are good ODI type players. Let’s make sure we don’t confuse their T20 shortcomings with their overall ability.

I know that his early performances didn't help, but kinda feel bad that they thought he wasn't worth sending as a bat when Quetta was crumbling, must have (further) shattered his confidence.

Very poor from Bangalzai

Duck today and this is what he's done in the previous games

He’s A poor bat. I remember when he and Abdullah shafique opened for Balochistan he bangalzai looked a tailender in front of Abdullah showed how poor he is.

Another so called future great. If and when he makes his international debut will falter like those before him.

Brought in place of Saim Ayub and impressed with a duck!

He is clearly not the batter we thought he was.

I am not impressed with Saim either , he is atleast 2 seasons away from becoming international standard cricketer if he actually develops in that seasons.

His development from his first psl to his last psl season has been really good and needs to continue working hard.

Abdul Wahid Bangalzai makes his career-best score of 79(63) against Lahore Whites in National T20 Cup 2023.

Haider Ali warrior type with exceptional mental strength. :ROFLMAO: Another hype product by those who can't judge real potential.

I remember this guy hyping everyone when I was lurking on PP.
