[VIDEOS] Azam Khan - Performance Watch

Even cricinfo doesn't know what is he

Nothing mentioned next to his name
Batsman
Bowler
Or allrounder or anything

good batting.

he had hte confidence to hit amad butt for six.

I see everyone who was having a go at him on the other thread are pretty quiet. Already looking like a better bat than Shehzad

Talk nah, he better have something written underneath his shirt for all his haters lol

If he does a great job for QG, all nepotistic talks will cease.

(I amongst them).

He has lost some weight, saw a few videos of him in the gym... needs to lose a lot more.

If that is after, what was he like before. The lad is def a parchi, as he has no record to speak of but he also has something. He needs to get a trainer and lose 3 stones or even more.

56* off 29 balls.....but according to some, the Quetta owner who bought the team shouldn't be allowed to pick him.

Looks like most of the PP's got foor in their mouth as usual with the talks of nepotism.

Yes, you can be related to an ex-cricketer and still be good and talented.

Looks a player with some nerves. Any criticism I may have thrown his and QG's way I take back. QG haven't felt Akmal's absence at all so far.

What's most surprising, despite all his weight & all, he's a live wire between the wickets!

Well then he is playing some innings. Well then if he works on his fitness then you never know. He's playing a blinding innings.

Until just now

If you look at our middle order, he is the type of middle order player we need. Let's hope he uses the clean striking talent to become a player that no one can question.

I was hoping for that.

But, he can only hit medium pace, that too on the leg side.

Won't survive in intl cricket.

Wouldn't that be something. In terms of strength and nerves, he has a bit of Inzi about him. But he needs to make sure he doesn't stagnate and become another false dawn like Asif Ali.

He took liking to 2 bowlers mainly shadab and medium pace of amad butt. I don't think he has the technique to survive against quality bowling
Let's see how he progresses from here on

Amad's trundling mostly -120-130s.

Shadab.

Some Faheem too. Late 130s he got out.

Tried to hit everything on the leg side.

Amad is 135-140

He hit fours against Akif and Faheem too.

He scored 59 what else do you want him to do?

I know who he scored against, but at least let him face some real pacers before you declare he is useless against pace... He played a bad shot to Faheem and got out, that ball was 137kph, he hit the same pace from Amad earlier.

he hit some good shots down the ground as well. Seemed like he had that extra second when playing his shots, should be able to cope with pace too.

Yes, he scored. And I'm happy for tht.

Let's see what happens in other matches. He has to show hitting ability on the offside too.

Otherwise, can't survive intl cricket. Teams will work him out in 1 match.

Yeah let's see what he can do.

We need to see more to conclude anything.

He played a good innings.

Weakness shown today was his off-side game.

Let’s see how he does, it was the first match of the season.

Has he booked a ticket to 2020 t20 world cup?

And humble pies are fresh for haters.

At least he has the sense to know who he can hit against and who he should just rotate the strike against. That's been a massive short coming off sloggers we've employed before. People like Asif Ali don't realize that they can't hit every bowler out of the park.

I did not see any off-side shots, needs improvement but Sharjeel Khan improve his off-side shots so Azam Khan can do too if he realizes it is a hole in his game

Looking at his body shape you know the guy is lazy but he has something. I take the point of other posters that he played nothing through the offside but he certainly a monkeys of Shadab, although Shadab was very poor.

Here we go with the justifications.

I'm sorry but no top international team, or self-respecting domestic team for that matter would ever accept selecting a cricketer who would not pass a full fitness test.

Besides Rakheem Cornwall, there is no international cricketer carrying that kind of poundage and for good reason.

He could average 200 in this tournament, but if you cannot even do the most basic thing required of ANY professional sportsman which is keep yourself in shape - then you cannot be playing international cricket.

This isn't the 90s, he ain't no Inzamam-ul-Haq, and since no domestic team have deemed him selectable then damn right he is a parchi pick and a few PSL innings won't change that.

Well played , the guy has lost 13 kgs and may need to lose 13 more but he is not a bad batsman. Good start.

Think we must congratulate him today!

Chill.

If he can be a genuine hitter, that's good enough.

Agreed.

Performances or not in the future games but one thing is for sure he'll be getting same amount of praise and criticism on his good and bad days.

I think he has made a lot of fans today.

We do need hitters.

Well done azam playing as a emerging player you have done your job and won them the game keep it up haters can hate

Well that was that , clean hitting & surprisingly a quick runner between the wickets , should’ve been MoM in my opinion

His quotes from presser

"As far as my weight is concerned, let me say that I have been working on my fitness for the past 4-5 months"

"I dont take criticism (of my weight) so seriously and avoid talking about it, although I do feel bad when I see people being so negative about this"

"I can only reply with my bat, and I will try that I do that all this season"

"All the management of QG have supported me and in the previous net session they were giving me confidence and saying I will play"

"There is no reason to get demoralized - you cannot stop people from making negative comments and I try and answer with my performances"

"In the dug out, Moin is like a coach to me (not my father)"

"I am not even 10% of Chris Gayle! When it comes to idolizing, I can see that BA is playing really well - I idolize him and hope that I can play in the same effortless manner"

Quetta can afford to have him over Ahmed Rockstar Shahzad for the rest of the tournament. He showed intent and middled everything. If it wasn’t for his inning, I don’t think Quetta could have come closer.

A humble pie served to many of us. lol

Humble pie for a lot on here, including me.

He's still young, and clearly is talented. He needs to put his head down and lose a lot of weight. Consistent gym work and a proper diet should ensure he's down to a normal weight for PSL6.

Pleasantly surprised a lot of people including me today.

Fact of the matter is, Umar’s ban might become a blessing for him and provide him the platform to shine.

I actually think he’s on Umar’s level as a batsman. Obviously not a young Umar who when he debuted one of the most talented batsmen Pakistan have ever seen, but the Umar who we have been plagued with for the past 7+ years. Someone who times the ball well, can hit a long ball, can be successful at domestic level, runs hard between the wickets despite being overweight - but ultimately does not have the game to be a consistent international player.

All the best to him, I hope he has a good domestic career.

He is much better than Asif Ali, to be honest. If Pakistan can keep Asif for so long in the team then this guy should make his debut as well.

I liked the way he took on the short ball every time. Quite a clean hitter.

He is better Than Shahzad, Sarfaraz, Shadab and probably a better batsman than Asif Ali

Bfr he needs to lose weight cause he is not a phelwan who needs muscle+fat, he is playing cricket where you have to do lots of running hopefully next year he lose some fat and only than can he be considered the replacement of the hack Named Asif ali
