What's new

[VIDEOS] Fakhar Zaman - Pakistan's most frustrating batter?

He was unbelievable today. Looked like he could just hit boundaries at own will.

What was most heartening was that the vast majority of his runs came outside of the powerplay. Pakistan have too many openers in t20 cricket at the moment and a complete lack of middle order batsmen.

Someone has to come in the middle order and Fakhar could play that role.

He's brutal when he gets set can still remember the Innings he played against Australia in the world cup.

Can still remember his Innings against Australia and what he did to starc on that day.

Continues to frustrate, 4 and 0 in his last 2 games:

Nothing frustrating about it, playing aggressively = more chances of getting out.

I’d rather see my opener get out like this than to use up 30 balls and having no impact on the game.

He could easily do what Rizwan and Babar claim to be doing “anchoring” whilst everyone else around him take risk. But, instead he’s being selfless…playing for the team and not for his average.

Fakhar on fire vs Fazalhaq

An amazing knock of 115(41) by Fakhar Zaman - he really is a thing of beauty when in full flow

Pakistan’s best white ball batsman

And best white ball opener

When it's his day he is unstoppable.

I just wish those days were more regular.

Well-deserved Player of the Match award today

Pakistan’s best white ball batsman

And best white ball opener

Such a shame that he can only do it in psl. In international t20 he was pathetic as an opener and still is a pathetic t20 player.

It would be Mickey Arthur who will reinstate Fakhar back to opening, the rest are too powerless to bring change

Needed a good workout tonight but failed - scored 13(11) - his inconsistency can be frustrating

Fakhar last 6 scores: 4, 0, 11, 115, 13, 6. Frustrating inconsistency continues.

<div style="width: 100%; height: 0px; position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.250%;"><iframe src="https://streamable.com/e/lii8w7" frameborder="0" width="100%" height="100%" allowfullscreen style="width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute;"></iframe></div>

Too many low scores then a big score seems to be Fakhar's issue.

Not enough consistency.

What was that shot today?

The shot of someone who is new to cricket not of someone who has been playing for so many years.

Wild swipe means a 4th failure in a row

Has tailed of since the 100 but still has 3 man of the match performances, a SR of 165 at close to 400 runs and also hit the most sixers this tournament.

If only he builds his innings better, gets a feel for the conditions and bowlers before dancing down the wicket

Keep playing how you do Fakhar

Don’t take the cowards way out of ‘building innings’! You are a GUN opener, and when you fire, your team wins brother!

12 off 18 balls in the PSL final.

Playing and missing again and again.

Better get going soon or it's trouble for LQ.

Out for 39 (34). Not what he's in the team for, the previous failures must have gotten to him

Painful watching him bat today - feet were stuck in cement, playing and missing time and again.

Put his team under a lot of pressure.

429 runs @SR of 160 and an average of 33. Most sixers as well.

Decent tournament. With his style of play he will frustrate from time to time .

33 years old today, big things expected from him in the coming months.

Fakhar looking good at the moment - looks set for a fifty at the least.

Good partnership with Saim for Fakhar

Look at the footwork or lack of it today.

Is that really the shot of someone who has been around for so many years.

When will we drop him from t20. Just look at his stats. Why is he getting a special treatment. Flopped at opener and they play in at 3 he’s a flop there too.

He's just bad at everything early on in his innings. Poor footwork, technique, strike rotation. Never seen a batsman as good as him struggle so much early on in his innings. You've just got to pray and hope he lasts 30 balls so he can actually do something. It feels just down to luck.

Fakhar should be used at No.4. If the PCB was a smart board they would have made best use of Fakhar and his limitations.

He is a slogger and will bound to fail every second innings. But you can afford a couple of sloggers in your team if you use them well.

Average of 21
Strike rate 129
No hundreds

He should be doing a lot better in T20Is.

Could be Fakhar's day. Cracking shot

Probably in my Top 10 list of the worst players to put on our green colors, rubbish player.

He will always be on the verge of being dropped given his performances.

But given the options he is still amongst Pakistan best impact players. Just needs to fire more often

“He is the perfect number 3 to follow Rizwan and Babar”

Hun araam eh????

Just one word for his performances.

Scam.

He's the Kaizer Soze of this team.

Since 2021 in T20Is:

Innings 31
Average 21
Strike Rate 120

What's he in the team for again?

We know why.

He might occasionally look like he's never picked up a cricket bat in his life, but on his day he can be world class.

Not to mention his competition is Shan Masood, Asif Ali, Haider, Khushdil Shah and Umar Akmal.

Fakhar's position for the next two years is as safe as Babar and Rizwan's.

The thing about Fakhar is he's not someone who you can count on to provide quick starts. Actually he's someone who takes some good time to get going. Even in ODIs, Imam was the one to start quicker in ODIs against Australia, till Fakhar got settled.

Only in the first 2 years did Fakhar give quickish starts. Once he was analyzed well, the opposition found a way to keep him silent earlier on. It's only once he gets his eye in is he able to strike hard. He's more in of a category of Rohit Sharma than Sehwag (not a comparison but the style of play).

The problem with our batters in t20is is that everyone seems more suited to the opening position than lower down.

Shadab and Imad are two guys who are well suited to the middle order. Imad has only started batting up the order recently and Shadab plays 1-2 beautiful shots and then perishes. Khushdil, Asif, Nawaz etc well they're either not good enough or not ready(Nawaz)

PSL has failed to develop middle order batters in 8 years. Hafeez and Malik were the only guys who could play in the middle order properly and that isn't a high bar. Iftikhar has the game to be successful but is too much of kitten to bat with authority.

His weakness is short ball. He would not have worry about it much on sub continental wickets. Since he has improved his game on the off, he will be a threat in the WC. May his form last at least for next 8 months.

He's wasted in t20s with that striking ability he should be opening with rizwan in t20s

Babar needs to man up and drop to 3

Fakhar should have the licence in the 6 over powerplay in t20s.

He is Pakistan's best opener in ODIs since Saeed Anwar. He is trash in T20s, but in ODIs, he should be one of the first names on the team sheet.

One of a few batsmen in the world who is able to clear the boundaries and punish bowlers yet struggles in T20

ABD and MS were bigger anomilies considering there talent and ODI plus league T20 record. So it's weird but it can happen.

Needs time to get in his groove. In T20's at #3 he needs to go from the word go with fielders outside the circle.

Still very decent option against spin.

Fair play to fakhar on improving his batting technic and also better all round game on both sides of wicket now. Before he got to easily bogged when teams cut off his high scoring areas, at least he's worked to combat that

Not sure but I think if he had scored 6 more runs he would have had the first and second highest individual scores in the second innings of ODI's. Pretty impressive

He's a gem in ODIs and our best opener in the format since Anwar. Doesn't get the respect he deserves because he's not a particularly aesthetically pleasing batsman and his struggles in T20.

However make no mistake on his day, and on big occasions, he can take any attack apart and be a matchwinner.

Pakistanis will miss him when he’s gone. The same ones who are over critical about him at times. Not long ago we were trying an opening pair every week in ODIs. After Nasir Jamshed’s brief dominance up until the Aane Do series, there hasn’t been an opener who is always looking to rack up hundreds with the same tenacity as Fakhar

You’ll get a pretty looking 50 if you look as far back as 2009 even, but Fakhar is next level compared to who we’ve tried in the last 10+ years. Also, p much all of them were bottlers on the big stage. And we all know what Fakhar does there…

Fakhar is what Sharjeel had the potential to be. I’ll even say he had a higher ceiling. But threw it away…

Made his debut 6 years ago and has only played 67 ODIs in spite of the fact that he has been pretty much first choice and is rarely injured.

Pakistan has not played nearly enough ODI cricket since the last World Cup to capitalize on its most prolific top 3 in history.

Fakhar should have been close to the 20 century mark by now with 120+ ODIs under his belt.

I don’t know why Fakhar does not play this way in T20s.

Honestly i think we need to prep him for the all important test series this year in Australia.

He can be like our Rishabh Pant coming down at no.6 and taking on the opposition.

Lol

Maybe because he isn’t playing in his proper position?
