Happy "61st" Birthday. Although since he is a Pakistani cricketer, we can safely add 5 years to his age :afridi. So in real Happy 66th Birthday :))

lol i just realized Imran is older than most of Pakistani politicians including Fazal-ur-Rehman, Zardari, Benazir, Sirajul Haq, Altaf Hussain, Shah Mehmood

Happy Birthday, a legendary cricketer and a tremendous captain.

Btw, 4 out of the 10 trends were related to the all IPL CLT20 final. Must be disappointing for a lot of people.

A cricket match, like a University hall, is no platform for political vitriol.

When a political movement starts you see it everywhere than there is no limit. When Ayub khan era came to an end people were chanting 'Ayub Kuta Hi Hi' everywhere and he even listened this slogan at his own home too when his grandson (probably Umar Ayub) was playing and chanting this slogan he was a kid so he wasn't sure what he was saying.

True, and our mentality in in 2014 is still as it was in 1969, and then we say why this nation hasn't progressed.

There will come a time when people will say Go Imran Go as well.

I hope not because if he didn't perform than millions of hopes specially the youth are going to die. Btw Go Nawaz Go sound much better thn Go Musharraf Go and Go Zardari Go/Go Gillani Go.

This is the first time someone showed PMLN this much opposition otherwise in past they never faced it and they were the one who use this type language and slogans starting from bibi to musharraf and than zardari and gillani. Jesa keroge wesa bheroge! one can understand their frustration they are being killed with their own gun

Wait a sec. Wasn't it on 25 Nov? No wonder there isn't much hype about it on Facebook..

Happy birthday to the man that changed Pakistan forever (IMO for the better).

To have the pressure of carrying the name Khan (After Majid) face the calls of favouritism when debuting at 18. To then drop Majid when he took over captaincy can show you a lot about Imran. I think sometimes we over glorify the past and we are quick to beat down current stars. But when you look back at the Don, Sobres, Imran, Sachin. You not over glorying in fact you can never do justice to what they did.

Imran Khan is simply a freak of nature, but he is a freak that was driven by himself. He is the first to say if I went onto the streets I wasn’t the best player, he worked and he worked. At 18 he was quickly dropped out of Pakistani team went to university (he was in fact Captain of Oxford University as well). And came back went to Packers cricket and learnt from the legends. He was lucky to have worked with great ustaads (Mike Procter, John Snow all of whom he says had an influence on his life and cricket but when you build a hero you never mention his teachers just the way it goes.)

I wont write a biography of the man but I shall give a little context into why I love and admire his work and why we as cricket fans and in particular Pakistanis are lucky to have him wearing our national colours. While overseas pakistani's were facing racial abuse in the 80's he was the eye candy of the world.

And a lot of the time sportsmen get caught with off the field scandal’s and their form suffers. Well his series against India in 1982 has to be safeguarded for future generations to watch and see. High-class fast bowling with the balls moving in both directions it’s an amazing piece of cricket history. And he just got better and better we all know the 10 year bowling and batting average stat which is mind boggling to say the least. But for a forum I wont write an article I will just highlight a few reasons why Imran Khan is simply indescribable.

To play cricket in the "olden days" til the age of 40 shows how fit he was and ahead of his time
Remoulded himself countless times, from right arm seam, to fast and then a batsmen
Captaincy backing his players till the end
Achieving the holy grail winning against India
Nehru Cup (The most underrated achievement done by a Pakistan Cricket team ever)
92 WC
Epic Battles against W.I.
Left behind a better team than the one he started his career and captaincy in

Look at the way even people in todays national XI still go back to him 22 years since he last bowled a ball, or picked up a bat in international colours. His name is still echoes across Pakistan forums, press and players.
He is the benchmark of all benchmarks. If you were to define the definition of an all rounder, just put a photo of Imran and choose your next word because, Imran Khan is The All rounder.

Happy birthday to one of the legends of Pakistan cricket!

Btw, sorry for derailing the thread but what is the issue with Firdous Awan and Usman Dar?

I don't think there are any serious issues i still Firdous withdrawn from one Sialkot seat in 2013 to support Usman Dar and both Dar brothers were present when she joined PTI recently.

Happy Birthday Immy

Easily top three Pakistanis to ever grace God's green earth.
