[VIDEOS] "In Pakistan I am famous as a finisher" : Iftikhar Ahmed

Iftikar will be the key in the SF against NZ as he is a good player of spin and can handle Sodhi and Santner well. If the top order can give a good start he can express himself with more freedom.
 
I thought that the conditions would suit his batting and that proved to be right.
 
What a cowardice innings in the WC final- why so much tentative and scared? Because you want to cement your personal spot in the team? otherwise, whats there to lose? Go down the wicket and counter attack Adil Rashid and hit him over his head .... why sticking in the crease and try to play so defensive?

That maiden over will hurt

His PSL 8 struggles continue:

Innings 7
Runs 132
Average 22
Strike rate 117.85
 
Gutted for him.

Seemed he turned a corner after his decent world cup and BPL.

But he has had a lot of chances this PSL and just frittered them away.
 
If feel sorry for him. It's his fault he hasn't performed. But it is not easy when your whole team is doing badly, collapsing and you're coming in at 5,6 which are often the hardest positions in those situations. As the batsman in form after the world cup, BPL, warm up of PSL, he should have been batting at 3. Stop the collapse from ever happening rather than rescuing it.

This whole finisher tag is overrated. Very few genuine finishers anymore and not worth worrying about. Just score runs at a good rate and if you haven't to be there at the end finish the match. Judging by his performances, tbh I don't think he's got that mental edge to be that finisher and perform when the chips are down. Though few do really, I'd struggle to name a proper finisher for most international teams either. Guys like Dhoni don't tend to exist anymore. I think Kohli almost revolutionised the role of finisher when he used to finish games at no.3, people stopped putting any of their best batsmen purposely low.

I agree with most of the part. Quetta could have Kohli and Rohit in their team and will somehow manage to extract 0 out of them.
Still Ifti needs to stand up more. Can't blame it all on other factors.
 
Truly best finisher.. Finishes off the games for Quetta quite early
 
If he's not careful his career will be finished as that's the only thing he is finishing these days.
 
Remove him! And make a statement in Pakistan cricket team that whoever plays like him should never be selected

Which angle do u see him as a big hitter! Lol, to answer your question Usama played 2 balls and was gone for 0 and thn Came Tuktuk 2.0 to destroy Pakistan cricket. Not big difference till he came after Usama! Stop finding ways to defend this Tuktuk
 
Where’s the guy telling us Ifti should be in the team because he is mentally strong?

Mickey Mouse Arthur was trying to be cute. It was all his move. Babar would never do such a stupid thing. I have been saying we need M Haris at no.7 instead of Mir.

I did notice a wee look Babar gave towards Mickey Arthur when Usama Mir got out. Ifti seemed out of his depth today though and we could do with someone like Haris in there instead of him.
 
I so so wish Asif Ali could be useful as a part time spinner if needed

He isn’t a fake hitter like Iftikhar and Nawaz
 
I thought Chacha would handle the mystery spinners better than he did. Infact Shadab and Imam handled them the best.

600 runs due to strike rotation not hitting. Ifti came during a time when hitting was required on a very difficult pitch to hit.

pitch plays a big factor. some pitches dont offer boundary hitting. The par score at Habantota is 250 because you cant hit boundaries on the pitches here.
 
Only thing he’s finishing is his career if he carries on like this
 
He needs to put more effort whilst running on multiple occasions he didn't go for the second.
 
I saw him gt20, he was scared of talking singles, his partner was making him run as he was hesitant. He is not a power hitter at all
 
I actually hoped that Ifti would be able to plug that middle order issue but I feel that he just doesn't have the mental strength or game to have a spot in there for the WC.

He ticks a lot of boxes, good fielder/catcher, decent bowler although defo a part-timer (below Hafeez level) but with his batting, it seems like he doesn't step up in the big moments.

4,5 and 6 is a huge worry with the World Cup just over a month away.

Afghanistan managed to accumulate runs primarily through boundaries and a few well-timed sixes.

It was a bad pitch, and I am saying this after watching the game.

The avg par score at hambantota is 250.

Pakistan had to rotate the strike, and everyone knew that towards the end of the game things will get difficult as the pitch was not the kind where you can easily hit boundaries.

If someone did not watch the game and saw the scorecard they will think and say oh 600 was scored, must have been a flat wicket with easy boundaries.

Even Gurbaz after crossing his hundred tried to play his natural game by hitting boundaries but he found it to be very difficult. In fact, when Afghanistan lost its first wicket and nabi along with Rashid were sent afterwards to do boundary hitting, they failed to do so because of the pitch. I think there were three overs (somewhere in the 40ish overs) where they 10-13 runs and at that time I was criticizing Afghanistan that why there powerhitters were soo bad today.

Come Pakistans innings, and we see that it was very difficult to get boundaries. Imam up has played a wonderful innings where he rotated the strike.

As for iftikhar, he came in a situation where boundaries were needed and was required to hit but he couldn't do so due to the pitch.

Even shadab later got boundaries cause of full tosses and bad balls. Abdul Rehman in the end bowled a terrible over that changed things.

Nepal fast bowlers made him look like De Villiers today we await this version of Iftikhar against the best teams...
 
Chacha has the ability to hit 6s against spinners that fire in the ball. He smashed Patel in the WC T20 with some massive hits. He needs to stay at 6 and become the safety valve when needed.
 
Hundred against Nepal means nothing,it is far from convincing. Needs to be consistent and do it against better oppositions
 
Good innings today, but he needs to add consistency and match-winning performances against the big teams.

Hopefully he can achieve that.

We need to keep some perspective and remember who the opposition was. Him celebrating his century as though he had won the world cup final wasn’t the best look.

Stop always finding a way to critisize players just because you dont like him or because one of your favourites cannot play. Be neutral in criticism.

Only two batsman performed today and one of them was Iftikhar. THere were others players instead of Babar that should had done what Ifti did but they didnt do it did they, even though the opposition was Nepal.

No one is going gaga over it, people are happy that he got his first century and hopefully can keep up his form during the Asia Cup and World Cup.

Its as if Ifti performing has caused a problem for some as there faovurites will not be able to make the playing 11.
 
We have observed that Iftikhar has performed very well in the previous few matches and he is quite valuable for our lower order as we are in need of a good finisher.

I do like Iftikhar actually. I am just commenting on the over the top praising as though it was a world cup final against India. We all need to remember who the opposition was and its a shame that Imam and Fakhar and Rizwan flopped here. Unacceptable actually.
 
How many batters in the world can score a 100 batting at number 6 in white ball? Not that many I reckon.

Iftimania is back. He should be batting at number 4.

i think he is playing on his best position.. let him play there so he can utilize the last few overs dynamically.
