WELLINGTON: The Indian cricket team broke into a chant from an anti-Pakistan movie after their series victory against New Zealand, on Sunday.

Ever since 1967 when India started touring New Zealand, this was the first time that the boys in blue have beaten the Kiwis with such a huge margin, 4-1.

The fifth ODI victory was a special one for Kohli’s boys as they came from down under to beat New Zealand.

However, after they got their hands on the trophy, the men in blue shouted a chant from an anti-Pakistan Bollywood flick ‘Uri: The Surgical Strike’.

“How’s the Josh?”, “High sir” was the chant. The slogan has become quite popular after the Vicky Kaushal-starrer Bollywood movie released.

<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Looks like the "JOSH" in the squad is "HIGH SIR" 🗣️ 📢 <br>'HOWS THE JOSH' - <a href="https://twitter.com/vickykaushal09?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@vickykaushal09</a> 😉😉<a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/TeamIndia?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#TeamIndia</a> <a href="https://t.co/bzsB5EelBd">pic.twitter.com/bzsB5EelBd</a></p>— BCCI (@BCCI) <a href="https://twitter.com/BCCI/status/1092024431717875712?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">February 3, 2019</a></blockquote>

A couple of Indian politicians and celebrities have also used the chant, which has gained traction with the Indian masses.

“Coming here and beating New Zealand 4-1 is a massive achievement. They play very good cricket, so it is a great take away for us. Last time we were thrashed 4-0. We didn’t have a point to prove but we just wanted to play good cricket, which we have been doing for the past 8-10 months now,” said Rohit Sharma after winning the match.

After sir jee kal strike, its sirr jee very high josh. :)))

Good for them.

I remember a variant of this slogan in 90s drama 'Sunehray din'. Another chaapa ?:viru

So if they sang "sandeshe aate hai" song from Border, would that also lead to a controversy?

I haven't watched this movie, so would love to know if this slogan had an anti-Pakistan context.

'Sandese' even though it's sh when used in Hindi devanagri but still.

What's wrong with the slogan? Hasan Ali mocked age old tradition and army drill. Where's the comparison?

nice try

he only did his tradition celebration at the border what is wrong with it ?

Nothing bilateral about what happens on this side of the border. Hassan can do whatever he wants in his country, you or anyone else can't do anything about it.

No respect for rules and protocol on your side. No surprise.

Perhaps you are not aware of the tradition and protocol at the border event. It's for military people. Not for civilian jokers. Nobody from India questions his bomb blast style celebration in cricket matches.

Didn't he take selfies with Indian army afterwards?

PS: Afridi nailed it they can win all they want but they still got small hearts :afridi midgets hamesha midgets hi rahen ge. Can't change nature of a person.
Aunque la mona se vista de seda, mona se queda

He did it during the army drill. You can see the video in youtube.

Ok 9k ok. Dont be so worked up. What he did at Wagah border Army ceremony was absolutely correct. He should and in fact all of Pak cricket should continue doing that. Enjoy

He did it during the army drill. You can see the video in youtube.

you can twist your word all you want but making farce out of nothing he did his trade mark celebration at border which is not a big deal

And the best part is Sugical strike happened after Wagha border actions in Dubai. Home turf.
Youtube video is there of Fans doing strike against Hasan Ali

Nice from team India, that's how the bests of the game should celebrate, while minnowbashers put on arm bands and do bhangra at the border.

I don't think you understand the tradition of Amritsar-Wagah border. Sure, the Pakistani Army can bring Hasan Ali and he can mimic his victory celebration, but what next? When India beats Pakistan in hockey, should they invite the team to come celebrate in front of the Pakistani Army jawans, or after the Asia Cup have Rohit come?

Very soon the border ceremony, which both Armies value, will be reduced to a farce.

He did it during traditional army drill which is disrespectful. If you don't understand importance of traditions and protocols I can't help you.

So now making a movie against terrorism is anti-pakistani. :ma

Heres the definition of terrorist: a person who uses unlawful violence and intimidation, especially against civilians, in the pursuit of political aims.

Movie against terrorism would have kashmiri freedom fighters fighting against terrorists, which in this case is the indian army as they kill, rape and oppress the Kashmiri civilians.

The celebration are in NewZealand , not at Attari border.
Secondly no mocking of other side army drill by doing some jokerish action.
Third the line chanted is how is Josh (spirit) of the team. High sir.
Now what's anti Pakistan is that.
What Pakistani hockey players did in India by taking shirts off and showing middle finger as well as off scene finger actions was unacceptable.

I dont see any problem in this slogan.

What exactly is the Amristrar-Wagah broder tradition? Both armies dancing on their side of the border? With Indian army embarrassing itself couple of times lmao

Hassan Ali's action still hurt it seems, god, you are a sensitive bunch.

LOL at the heartburn.

I sometimes feel sorry that the neighbours are forever destined to live under India's shadow. Poor fellows.

Suggesting Pakistani friends here to apply aloe, will help soothing that burn.

So if it's about Kashmir. How is it anti pakistani?

did you saw him interning in lowering of the flags ceremony at the Wagah border ?just dancing on his side of border is disrespectful and not according to protocal

How is this about Kashmir? Its about depicting a false story of sir jee kal strikes inside Pakistan which never happened. If Indians had so much josh, they would not have had their knickers in a twist over a nation that is many times smaller than them over a period of more than 60 years.

The drill is also part of tge flag cereminy. I am not saying he did it deliberately to insult. But he doesn't understand the importance of traditions and protocols like you.

The heartburn is real, when you guys still discuss over Hassan Ali's celebration year ago and make movies out of fantasy pieces to make yourself feel good about you. :))

Our cricketers and management team is much more educated and gentleman than Padosis can think off.

Sarfaraz showed his class as captain in CapeTown.
While Risabh showed his class in Australia which was praised by ICC and Australian media. Even Aus cricketers and wives appreciated that.

Shown difference in class and upbringing.

Imagine Dhawan going at border and showing his Gabbar celebrations in front of Pakistani rangers doing their drills. Laughable isn't it. He went do it. That's sane and respect of class difference.

Believe me some PPfans think that Hasan Ali doing jokerish actions at border shows that Indians are afraid of playing Pakistan .

what about calling spade a spade.Did indian team need to bring the politics in odi series that is happening in newzealand?

It will be a long debate whether the movie is anti-pakistani. So I will skip it. It's just a movie. Are there no anti India movies in Pakistan? We don't know becoz we don't even care. What's anti Pakistani about the slogan?

What politics is Indian team bringing. Sense that u can't understand simple English lines. How is the spirit. High sir.
Feel sorry for u bro.

So lovely to see Indians from all segments of society remembering and supporting their jawans on such occasions. People in Pakistan have much to learn :(.

Nothing bilateral about what happens on this side of the border. Hassan can do whatever he wants in his country, you or anyone else can't do anything about it.

There are bilateral agreements on what can be or cannot be done at the border. If Pakistan cant adhere to agreements they should not sign it.

Howz the spirit? High Sir. It's after win against NZ not even Pakistan. What politics is there in the slogan?

They used a dialogue from a recently successful movie. That is all. That happened to be a Pakistan centric movie. Just coincidence. Why so salty? They did that in NZ. How is Pak relevant here?

Fake news was utilized properly by the Modi govt. Sir jee Kal strikes are a joke, and the whole world knows about it. Heck, even the informed Indian posters know this too thats why you never see them defending them. Those who choose to believe them believe it out of their insecurity, and i would understand that. If you are so many times bigger than Pakistan yet you have to cook up stories regarding some strikes, then something is wrong wrt to your actual "josh".

Ok dont be angry. Take a glass of water. We did not do surgical strikes. I agree. United States Special forces did it to catch Osama. P

Even if it is (hypothetically speaking ), it is far better than a national captain bringing racism in to a country which has been torned due to the very same cause.

who supported that?he is rightfully punished and serving his ban .any way he was alone your whole team is supporting slogan of your country president

Howz the spirit? High Sir. It's after win against NZ not even Pakistan. What politics is there in the slogan?

read the op .You denial won,t change the fact .If that was the case there wont have been thread on it

What do you have to say about this?

Look at that BSF jawan holding the mic for a clown. You lot are so good at keeping tradition right? This shows you lot are bunch of hypocrites and liars.

This is for you too Napa. Sick of the blatant hypocrisy. Own up.

Apparently the dialogue is used in real life to ask the cadets in military schools of India by the senior officers.

Is there a protocol that BSF jawan cannot hold a mic? It may be in Pakistan. I don't think it is in India.

Its on your oh so sacred Wagah border. So much for tradition, absolute jokers.

You keep digging that hole.

As I said if you don't know about importance of traditions and protocoks during bilateral events I can't help. It's not about Hasan's celebration at the border it's about him doing it during bilateral military drill.

Nowt wrong with it..we'll find some stupid and ill conceived chant as well next time we're in mood for some Indian Bashing.
And, Ill be here trying desperately and making an A@/€ of myself in trying to defend it.

It's not about border. It's about the drill which involves tradition and protocol.

He doesnot understand the difference between doing something between a military drill of two countries and when there is no drill.

They're celebrating the Indian Army and its their absolute right to do this. I think it's embarrassing that the Pakistanis posters are taking offence to this.

Mountain out of a molehill.

Wow! How did I miss this video? Thanks OP for sharing it! ;) 'Boys played well' and they sang a few lines from a latest bollywood movie. How is that anti-pakistani? They also danced to the tunes of Psy's Gangam style. Does that mean they were trying to impress and target South korean audience? Come on! This is getting too silly now!

If you can't follow a thread I can't engage in a discussion with you. I was replying to "he only did his tradition celebration at the border what is wrong with it?", and not discussing whose behavior is better or worse.

No more replies from me unless I see something sensible.
