[VIDEOS] "Maybe those difficult moments, will make me stronger in future" : Naseem Shah

Fantastic to see and his body language is so much better than when he’s playing in Pakistan colours - some swagger that every fast bowler needs.

It seems our cricketing culture in Pakistan is discouraging this. Even during his wild celebrations against Afghanistan I saw some random pcb official come up to him to calm him down and politely reprimand him.

Wow - can you see if you can find me that clip?

Serious pace from Naseem

1/12 in 2 overs for Comilla v Khulna in BPL

FnjNFRDXoAAFvwu

I think speedguns in bpl are faulty.. I havent seen Naseem touching 150 kph in internationals in white ball cricket..and here I heard he touched 152 kph also today.. i think they are showing 3-4 kph more than actual speed

And now Naseem seems injured.

Another injury waiting to happen.

This guy is playing all formats, has had numerous injuries yet is playing in the BPL ahead of the PSL.

This has more to do with poor diving fielding techniques by Pakistani players

This is why fast bowlers in previous eras used to live and die by the trusty old boot when trying to save a boundary. They lasted a lot longer too.

Someone needs to revisit this silly mentality that every fielder needs to be a Jonty.

Fast bowlers (real fast bowlers, not trundlers) should have their fielding judged to a lower standard. If you are depending on your fast bowlers’ fielding then you might as well not play.

It was Mansoor Rana… i dont think he was politely reprimanding him, rather just tryng to calm him him down..in a good way…like a father figure

Why was he trying to calm him down? It was just this silly stubbornness of trying to portray this silly nice guy, blowing kisses image of the team that Rambo and the PCB loved at the time. Tbf it’s been like that before too since misbah’s days. “Here’s your subservient brown guys you always wanted”

I really hope Najam Sethi changes things up

Yeah no what an awful take.

Literally just learn to field properly and you will have no issues.

Seriously he is playing in the BPL?
I mean ...

Pak cricket and the ones in charge keep surprising us.

Your prime fast bowler in white ball cricket and you let him play in this circus.

Who can account for a poor outfield. There’s no points for physical bravery. Get the boot out, or let it go for a four. What are you saving? Maybe one run? Not worth it, save your body. You’re career is far more important to your country than the odd run here and there.

that looks like a combination of poor diving technique and a poor outfield too.
the boot way is also dangerous, foot on the ball by mistake in such high speeds will badly injure your ankle.

This is the mindset of modern Pakistan cricketer. They would play a 20 overs slogathin then steam in with the new ball on a first morning at lords

These guys are not very intelligent unfortunately. Immature and lacking guidance.

They are basically doing what they are told to do.

Maybe this will afford him a few weeks of forced rest. Pakistan tend to run their players into the ground at home and at every franchise tournament.

Why is he playing bpl when psl is starting in a few weeks?

He told me that the outfield was wet and his studs got caught in the surface.

Could have been a horrible injury - he's been very lucky.

Saj if you speak to our fast bowlers please can you advise them for me not to dive in the field and put their bodies on the line unless it is a World Cup knock out game.

Tell him instead of these random leagues his focus this year should be to keep himself for for the World Cup and bowl enough overs overs in red ball cricket so he is not undercooked for Aus tour

Not done that great in the game vs PZ today

He is becoming a better death bowler than new ball bowler..although new ball used to be his strength… maybe he tries too many different things..initially….now?

Also I think he is a better ODI bowler than T 20s... in T 20 worldcup also..he didnt have many wickets…rarely do we see him taking 3 wickets in T 20s.. maybe he needs more overs to come into rhythm

His bowling with new ball isn't as good as it should be. He has an excellent seam but his lines are generally poor. Simplicity is best, hit the top of off

Naseem and Babar at the end of the QGvPZ game (9)

There is genuine appreciation after a hard fought game - good to see

Worrying times for Naseem Shah - not taking wickets at the rate he wanted to and also conceding runs

Today vs IU he showed a lot of frustration

He did pretty ok today in my opinion. He was unlucky at times.

He seemed to be in great form in bpl.. wonder what happened in PSL.. he seemed to have lost his strength in bowling with new ball..and is no where near leading wicket takers..infact i think he is amongst.. the lowest wicket takers… maybe standard of batting in bpl was too low..where he looked too threatening…

He went at 8 an over but his team went at 11 an over after conceding 220. I thought he was unlucky with just one wicket but he did well only to concede 32 runs when you consider how well Azam Khan was playing.

I don't mind him getting frustrated like this. It shows me to he has high standards and doesn't possess the small team mentality like some of his colleagues in the Pakistan side happen to have.

He is actually doing very well in a poor team. Even today, given the score his Eco rate is decent.

Naseem even thou he hasn't took many wickets no one has really got hold of him.

Naseem has been pretty average this PSL.. hardly taken any wickets

Also Naseem lost his strength as new ball bowler.. I thought he would improve under Umar Gul but somehow been pretty average in his bowling this PSL.. being QG premium bowler, he should have done much better… even Hasnain has outperformed Naseem by a mile this PSL..taking wickets at crucial stages..

Hopefully Umar gul can see and is able to improve Naseem’s performance

Naseem Shah always speaks very highly of Mudassir Nazar,.

Keen to see how Naseem performs in this Afg series after a mediocre PSL.

Mudassar Nazar was a very good cricketer. Now he is 60 or 70 year old , but unless he is sick ( hope not ) , there is no excuse for to be in such a bad physical shape , not just for a sportsman but also for an ordinary man. The culture of fitness just does not exist in Pakistan. What message he is conveying to the youngster. Saqlain is the same case.

Terrible terrible. His bowling was rubbish but the way he was batting with Imad at the other end was boiling my blood today.

From what we've seen of Naseem Shah, Zaman Khan and Haris Rauf, it makes one realise how badly Pakistan need Amir's bowling IQ for the 2023 World Cup in India. If he's willing to stay fit, he'll be a big asset.

Lol Amir can't even bowl to retired players in the legends league. Amir was also poor in the PSL. He is not what you make him out to be.

He had one of the best economy rates in the PSL.

The question is whether he has the motivation to get fit.

I have to agree.

But this is where Umar Gul needs to earn his keep.

Naseem Shah surely has talent but i think he needs a proper bowling coach to improve him.. he needs to improve quick..otherwise he will very soon lose his place to Ihsanullah in t20s atleast in regular side
.. today Ihsanullah seemed like a senior bowler compared to him

No yorkers today in his last over

He bowls so defensively at the start and at the death as well , no way he can pickup wickets by bowling negatively

True.. he has become too defensive as a bowler.. looks to contain runs only..rather than taking wickets.. also he tries too many variations.. even if he beats the batsman 3/4 times in an over by bowling a consistent line.. he will for some unknown reason try to do something different in last 2/3 balls of an over and then go for runs in those last few balls, just for trying some thing different needlessly.. case in point his first over yesterday where he bowled excellent 4 balls in the first over and then changed line length in last 2 balls needlessly.

He needs a bowling coach who can change his mindset and properly guide and mentor him, to improve him

We keep saying about the coaches and this lad.

But by now he's worked with some very good coaches and should know here to bowl in the death overs and with the new ball.

Other bowlers deserve good coaches too. He is not special from the sky that only he deserves good coaches. Truth is this is what happens when you keep playing a player based on talent, potential but without performances. He had a poor PSL and had a poor T20 WC and was poor in NZ as well. If he is not taking wickets for Pakistan, he has no business playing for Pakistan period.

Saj just posted hes got a measly 3 wkts in his last 8 T20s, says it all really.

In one if his recent interviews..he has said..tht we try to bowl as a unit.and we try to give ourselves specific roles…..and in Pak ..since Shaheen tries to get early wickets…myself and Haris try to contian runs..beacuse in early overs.,you can go for plenty..if you over try to get wickets…so if Shaheen is taking wickets..I tryto contain..because in t20 ..your economy is equally or sometimes more importantin taking wickets..

I was surprised at his interview and his mindset which said tht he in his own mind is intentionally becoming a defensive bowler in T 20 rather than a strike/ wicket taking bowler

Although in PSL, and even here…there was no Shaheen..so why did he not try to become a strike bowler? I think he has gone too defensive overall and some coach needs to change his mindset

He surely needs a reset..and go back to basiscs..he bowled extremely poorly today .. has the talent..but needs right mindset…deserves to be dropped based on his performance, even though I like him, and I think hes quite talented..but not doing justice to his talent

should have been rested too... instead is embarrasing himself infront of afghanis...

The PCB needs to tell him straight, if you aren't taking wickets, you have no business being in the team.

I don't see any talent to be fair. He has not really set the world alite, this is his fourth year in international cricket and there hasn't been one single mind blowing match winning performance.

He displayed his disloyal, snakey traits when he was politicking to get out of QG and play for another team now that he found some use of himself

He deserves this humiliation

care to elaborate, i didnt know he tried to get out of qg

care to elaborate, i didnt know he tried to get out of qg

He wanted to be released even though QG didn’t want him to go. They felt that he owed them some loyalty for sticking with him during his tough times and when he was in the dumps as a bowler. There has to be some connection between QG and getting Naseem to play for Dwayne Bravo’s team in the BPL, and Bravo was the one who truly helped him turn his career around and actually taught him how to bowl in T20s

QG eventually did release him but as soon as Rizwan’s side went straight in for him at the PSL draft, QG played their right to match and dragged him back in. It’s clear that since he has been with the Pakistan side and finding fame since the India and Pakistan match where he got KL out first ball he is starting to think he is on Allen Donald’s level in his mind.

Great humbling experience this should be for him

It seems like he will lose his place to Ihsanullah in the regular side very soon, atleast in T20s

He has had a real poor series should have been the leader of this pace attack.

Place is under threat thanks to Ihsanullah (in white ball at least). Continuing his poor PSL into this series

Decent speeds in the 3rd T20I vs NZ for Naseem

ADzsEyO.png

Ok so Naseem doesn’t decide when he comes back though? You do realise it’s not his decision

Players can choose to make themselves unavailable for selection. The PCB can also choose not to renew their contract :najam

Typical Naseem performance.

Lots of oohs and aahs and hair flicks but zero wickets.
