[VIDEOS] "Maybe those difficult moments, will make me stronger in future" : Naseem Shah

Gets Latham!

...and hopefully he will play a month of PSL as well. The merry-go-round continues for Naseem.

Keep picking him in all 3 formats, break his back and then throw him away like a piece of rubbish.

That's what we do in Pakistan cricket.

PCB should do the following

- The top 5-6 pacers should not play international T-20's for Pakistan anymore unless its a WC tournament. The PCB should still compensate these players for the match fees they have missed out on. Give opportunities in international mickey mouse T-20 contests to domestic performers instead and don't care about winning, losing in this format as at the end of the day, it is mickey mouse cricket.

- Allow these pacers to play in a select few T-20 leagues around the world like Natwest, Big Bash and PSL as lets face it that is where the money is.

- Get these pacers to play the domestic 4 Day tournaments to ensure the pacers are ready to play for Pakistan in the test format.

- Increase their remuneration for test matches to make it worth their while

- Rotate these 5-6 bowlers in test cricket when possible and needed

Excellent points!
But the problem is the management has always been so desperate to win even against minnows that they can't even think of resting their main bowlers. We saw it last year when Shaheen was recalled from his county stint to tour Netherlands for some useless white ball matches.

Love his confidence.

Naseem Shah:

“When he was coming in, I told (Tim) Southee - look he’s wearing glasses, it’s so late, he won’t be able to see the ball properly. This is not fair. But he walked in with style, as if he was Imran Khan. I realized this guy has confidence"

“I told Southee, if you keep the same field, I will go for the chase. But he sent the fielders back after that four and six. Then I decided I wouldn’t go for it and a draw would be best.”

Abrar Ahmed

"Naseem told me: ‘have belief in yourself. I have seen you in the nets. You bat well, especially against spinners’. He told me to face the leg-spinner since, being one myself, I can read the googly and flipper. He decided to play the off-spinner. That was our discussion"

They did really well as a last wicket pair under pressure. It's good to see some cameraderie after a tough season for them. These two have potential to be good Test players, sometimes some confidence is all it takes to do it.

Naseem superb in the first ODI

Since July no other fast-bowler besides Starc has bowled more deliveries than Naseem Shah. Need to manage his workload or injuries with persist.

What a talent though and what a remarkable first ball!

Worst fast bowler ever from Pakistan by some so-called analysts

Best bowler this game. What a spell with the old ball

He is the best young bowler going around easily.

Amazing Naseem

Yes!

On a serious note, don’t understand the hatred he’s always got from some!

The problem was he was chucked into the deep end too early, then grinded out on all formats to try and validate that decision. He was quite poor in those early days and some of the criticism was justified but that was just because he was literally still a kid.

He's now able to bare his teeth after gaining some experience but we should not get carried away.

Matches: 4
Wickets: 15
Average: 11.20

Which bowler has taken 2 5fers in the first 5 matches of his ODI career? :inti

PCB needs to manage his work load. I dont see the point in him playing these ODIs.

Needs to be rested for T20s. These ODIs are important for him to gain confidence in this format and solidify his place in the side before the next World Cup.

Important to note that the first 3 games were against the Netherlands. But still good stats nevertheless

He is good bowler in limited over cricket .but same not true about test cricket

His test stats are getting better gradually took 9 wickets @ 35 in 2 tests on these much maligned pitches this home season which included 1 game ln the roadiest of the roads at Pindi.

Naseem's 5fer

<div style="width: 100%; height: 0px; position: relative; padding-bottom: 56.250%;"><iframe src="https://streamable.com/e/8pmfyb" frameborder="0" width="100%" height="100%" allowfullscreen style="width: 100%; height: 100%; position: absolute;"></iframe></div>

Enjoyed his variety today.

Some clever slower balls in there also.

A wonderful 5 wicket haul today.

Easily motm today for me.

Special effort. Looked on a different wavelength to any other pacer from both teams.

Really really happy for Naseem. He has evolved right in front of our eyes from being a rough diamond to being an essential cog of the team. The way hes leading the bowling line up in Shaheen’s absence is just awesome! I really hope he improves in test cricket where our fast bowling is dreadful.

Naseem is definitely the second best bowler in Pakistan right now after Shaheen Afridi. He is a special talent and I'm sure if they both stay fit they can be a force at the World Cup.

He gets hate from one poster, not because of his performances but because he made comments in regards to Indian batsmen.

THAT poster picks and chose his favorites and not so favorites base on personal liking and disliking . I keep telling him and some others, Naseem is still too young to be very consistent in all formats , give him some time and team will be getting dividends in the long run.

Naseem is intelligent , hard working and eager to learn from his mistake and keeps improving.

38 better Indian fast bowlers than him. Some of the opinions on here are delightful.

"One of the worst bowlers in the world. Laughably overrated by deluded fans. He had zero talent and skill, just a runs leaking machine."

No prizes for guessing who came up with this gem.

Today, he bowled very well. Glenn Phillips was totally at sea against his reverse swing. Naseem does well when he's pitching the ball on a good length. He's awful when he tries the short pitch stuff. Bowling coaches need to drill it into him that bowling a good length should be his stock delivery 90% of the time. He made Ben Stokes look bang average in the T20 World Cup final as well by bowling that good length.

This video tells us a lot about the character of Naseem

May ALLAH swt grant his mother the highest rank in Jannah - Ameen

Very exciting. Along with Rauf (who is a bit less effective the longer the game gets) they are a decent looking fast bowling attack and should be a handful in the next WC.

This guy is a talent. He will not take wickets every game but he has a bit of something about him and is a future star for Pakistan.

His slower ball was very impressing but that yorker was Lasith Malinga like world class wicket.

He has just played test matches where he was injured also. Time to rest him now not when he is close to braking point.

I think this is a very important series for us going into the World Cup. And that too against the No.1 ranked ODI team in the world. I don't think that a couple of ODIs will be all that bad. I would rest him going forward in the PSL.

Got the breakthrough in the opening over today. Naseem's becoming more reliable each passing day

He is the best young bowler in the world atm.
Has been for over a year now ever since the Australia series.

Naseem is so good. I don't understand Pakistan fans, they make heros out of nowhere and then you fail in 2-3 games and they make you zero.

I saw the same with Abrar, flat wickets, the lad has bowled so well and straight away there are people labelling him as crap.

Saw that with Naseem, seeing that with M Wasim as well, a couple of bad games and you get labelled.

I think a lot of ”posters” are scared to over praise Naseem in case they get a rollicking from one particular poster.

Be brave, if you rate him, rate him.

I rate him very highly. He has a higher ceiling than Shaheen.

Naseem is very good. He probably more capable of getting absolutely set batsmen out compared to Shaheen. But Shaheen more regularly bowls those absolutely unplayable deliveries. He’s also someone who later in his career can just revert back to being a typical tall bowler, so he has that 2nd set of skills he can rely on as well.

One of the best turn arounds I have seen in recent history

He was down and out until Dwayne Bravo’s leadership in CPL completely changed him

Many wrote him off due to his height but boy has he improved. Sam Curran Is another short bowler who's brilliant. Imagine Naseem was left handed. He'd be twice as good as Sam Curran. Agree?

His height means he will never be a great test bowler sadly but has enough skillset to make his mark in white ball formats.

Ok he is bowling again now

Naseem Shah to Yasir Ali, no run, 147ks bumper just outside off, Yasir Ali looks to pull and gets beaten for pace. The ball climbs up rapidly and smashes him on the helmet grille. The physio is out to do the mandatory concussion test.

Fantastic to see and his body language is so much better than when he’s playing in Pakistan colours - some swagger that every fast bowler needs.

It seems our cricketing culture in Pakistan is discouraging this. Even during his wild celebrations against Afghanistan I saw some random pcb official come up to him to calm him down and politely reprimand him.

pakistani fast bowlers need to stop slide diving for the ball, its literally pointless to risk losing a player for months to save a run or two unless its a final of a world cup or something.
