[VIDEOS] Mubasir Khan - The Next Big Thing?

Is it the right time for a test debut? He has played 21 FC matches which is a good number with 1100 runs at an average of 43 (3 100s) and 55 wickets at an average of 26 (3 5s). No quality offies around as well, he can provide the batting and bowling depth with his all round ability and with time will get better. Something to ponder over.

Starts the Pakistan Cup with 118* for Northern versus Balochistan.

Man of the Match too.

Absolutely brilliant catch today at PSL 8 against Quetta.

Looks like one of the younger guys who actually takes his fielding seriously.

guys a bit wasted at ISB, they have so much bowling and batting depth that hes rarely required. would be nice if he gets a full spell or a chance to go up the order today.

He's only bowled 4 overs and not faced a ball at PSL 8 so far.

A waste of talent at this moment.

He’s a good good player, just not a t20 player. He’s a spin bowling no.7 in tests, that’s his real position.

This was the first time I watched him bat. Sorry but he looked rather poor. Not because he got out cheaply, but just the way he got out.

Don’t hype a cricketer on a hit and giggle format and don’t put him down on how he does in this format

The boy has been a consistent performer in QeA cricket and should be selected and judged on that.

Ok if he has done well in QeA then defo deserves more chances.

I am all for young players who do the hard yards in domestic cricket.

He’s a very promising lad. Technically correct with the bat and impactful with the ball. Despite his young age, he’s been back to back player of the tournament in the QEA trophy.

I’ve actually followed his career through the juniors from afar. He’s someone who’s truly done it on merit. Performed for the U19s, got promoted by Mo Wasim to the Northern’s 2nd XIs and then immediately made an impact when being promoted to the first XI in his first season.

He took his side to the finals of the QEA trophy last year (where they got done by KPK) before finally winning it in 2022.
He’s someone who needs to be in the next home test squad.

Don’t think this is his format I want him to get chances in Odis and eventually in tests which is his strongest format.

Fair enough. Looks quite young. Will need to be given chances on A tours.

I don't like when people hyped up a player to the highest level, I understand he is a talented cricketer and one to keep an eye on , but naming the thread as " next big thing" does not make any sense.

PCT will never be a top 3 again unless we gave importance to A tours . The likes of Mubasher, Huraira Hasnain, Haider, Harris will never make the next level unless they play proper A tours.

Id give this lad a few more chances before I make my judgement on him. I just feel hes got something there to make it to the next step

The problem is, it’s very unclear what his role is at ISLU. I’d also give him a long rope on this ground. Pindi is tiny, the pitches are unforgiving and he barely bowls enough to form any rhythm at all.

He can be the next big thing in tests.

Mubasir should be in the test side he has been outstanding in the domestic circuit.

Mubasir Khan made an impressive century, scoring 100 on Day 1 of the President’s Trophy 2025 against PTV! That's his 4th First-Class hundred.

Looks overweight. What's going on with the fitness of these players
They are not serious about their game and we shouldn't be investing in such players. He's an average talent too. Though he is a better option than amir Jamal for SC conditions.

looking like a decent spin option who should be given a chance to represent Pakistan

Should be booted out from domestic team , he is hogging up a spot for an actual talent , he is been with the setup for around 4/5 years and still bats like a tailender against any decent bowling attack.

Pakistan’s bowlers have dominated so far in the ongoing match against AS, reducing them to 64/7 after just 10 overs. Mubasir Khan struck twice, giving away 14 runs in his spell and keeping the pressure on the middle order

Mubasir Khan (SNGPL vs Ghani Glass, National Bank Stadium, Day 1, Round 5) – Anchored SNGPL’s innings with 113 not out off 171 balls, sharing a 201-run unbeaten fifth-wicket stand with Muhammad Awais Zafar to recover from 107-4 to 308-4.

He is talented and has been a consistent performer in FC for a few years now. Should be given a chance in home tests so he gets to know how much resilience is required to succeed at international level. His team mate Huraira dominated FC for a years but looked fish out of water when brought into the test team.

his bowling stats arent good enough to replace a front line spinner in sajid khan, and salman agha doesnt deserve to be dropped from the test side. this is where a lack of A cricket really hurts pakistan. because theres no bridge between FC and test.

He bowls a lot more than Agha does who is basically a part time offie. He could theoretically come into the side as the third spinner if Pak keeps on making these spin minefields where there is no role for seamers.

PCB should definitely be looking to get this guy in the side... I think he has played enough domestic cricket and performed well also.

His most useful format would be Tests but he doesn't currently fit into the side. Salman occupies his role as a better batter but a lesser threat with his bowling. Mubasir would provide a better 5th bowling option but would be a lesser batter. Considering how woeful Pakistan batting looks these days, they can't afford a batting downgrade.

If he is to make it into the side, it is likely as Salman's replacement and there is no need to rush it anytime soon. Salman has been one of our most reliable batters in Tests and he himself didn't make on the team until he was 29 & had undergone through severe domestic rigours. Saud Shakeel himself didn't make it until he was 27 and he had a much better domestic track record. The only positions open on the Test squad at the moment are top order spots with Saim/Abdullah up in the air.
