This is what happened when Shadab was given out

Two rubbish cricketers acting like clowns. Ridiculous.

I feel such acts should be fined by the Ref - to me this is as bad in terms for the reputation of the game as someone swearing. Takes the value out of the game.

I hate it when players from oppsit ends play buddy buddy on the filed , keep some competitive spirit and rivalry intct FGS. This was ridiculous from Rauf.

handshake after beating a senior player?
mini battle between a bowler/batsmen (with laughs and jokes)... all need to be stopped be competitive play for your team and stop making circus out of cricket.

You won't see this stuff if the PSL paycheques matched the IPL paycheques of $2-3 million dollars. In the IPL players are stressed to the limit to perform at all times, to be Virat Kohli type fit at all times otherwise they can say goodbye to that $2-3 million paycheque.

Seriously confused as to what Shadab did and how he is acting like a clown? Looks mainly like Haris misbehaving and being childish. What did I miss?

Shadab is fine - it's Haris - but the issue is that the whole atmosphere is so friendly.

Most of our cricketers are softies and clowns thanks to the culture brought in by Misbah.

We have a generation of cricketers who are better at acting and posing for pictures than actually playing cricket.

I remember the days when our players would shatter the stumps, give the opposition players a few choice words, shake hands with their team-mates and then be ready to bowl the next ball.

These days the celebration, the acting, the drama seems to be more important than performances.

This episode has been misinterpreted. Actually Shadab was getting into a brawl with some Lahore Qalandars fielder who said something to him and Haris pulled him away and tried to calm things down.

If this is how PSL is perceived then how can you blame players.

A few weeks of unwinding and fun. Can’t really blame them for not taking it serious. It’s literally domestic players + some top t20 players + some retirees / pensioners. It’s a far cry from intl standard.

Exactly this. The league has been ruined by so many things.

Where else would you find 47 year olds Hafeez, Wahab & Malik.
Where else would you find fraudsters like Asif Ali and Azam Khan.
Where else would find old failures like Umar Akmal
Where else would you find captains like Shadab Khan (Tik Toker) and Sarfaraz (Old timer)

Enough said about the overseas players

Saw the video on Twitter

That was disturbing viewing. Rauf is extremely immature

Don’t think Shadab was impressed and being friendly. Dunno what Haris was up to. So this particular footage is a bad example.

But of course we’ve seen over friendly behaviour throughout this PSL. Ihsanullah (I’m a big fan) but it was a sorry sight to see him go over to shoaib malik and shake his hand following some aggression he showed.

It’s almost as if all the players have some PCB officials breathing down their neck looking to reprimand them if they step out of the friendly zone.

We have become such a pathetic minded cricket nation. Loser mentality

Shadab does these shokhiya himself all the time

Harris is behaving in the Dosti yaari mode. These boys know they can perform however they like and will never be dropped by the management:

Rizwan
Babar
Shaheen
Rauf
Shadab

Said it before, these friendly cliques are as poisonous and dangerous to Pakistan cricket as the warring cliques of the 90s were.

I dont really mind this. We have a different sporting culture. These guys are all friends and back each other.

We never had this culture - and this seems very forced and very deliberate. Nothing natural about it at all. Just very cringe, embarassing and leading us in to an abyss of cake cutting, high fiving without any thought of any strategy on the pitch.

it’s really pathetic to see. It all started from Asad Shafiq’s cake in 2016 under Misbah - which is probably why you don’t mind it. There is a world outside misbah you know

we had a psl before 2016?

I sort of agree. Pakistanis in all spheres of life have always displayed overt affability to the right people.

This performative mateship is new to Pakistani cricket but not to Pakistani culture.

Can you tell me what benefit Haris will be gaining by teasing Shadab?

Simon Doull on the Shadab/Rauf incident

"Shadab is being helped off of the park. I am not sure if that's necessary, I don't know Shadab will find it funny or not, I know I would, I can tell you that much."

Errrr…..we had Pakistani cricket culture - I do believe that didn’t start with the PSL right?

What Pakistani cricket culture that you were aware off? There were never any rivalries of sort between the player's where they would be aggressive with one another.

You can qoute 1 off incident or 2.

Haris Rauf explaining what happened

“It was a fun moment and these things happen between friends; We have known each other for a long time and have played a lot of cricket together,”

Seems very fake all this.

Done for the cameras and for social media.

Fans who get emotionally invested in sports would feel betrayed when players start acting too friendly. Do whatever you wish to do off the field but on the field you have an obligation to go at war with the opposition for the sake of the fans. No way else could you justify the type of money these guys get to earn compared to the average folks.

I believe friendships are real, the way they are being overperformed for cameras is the issue.

Friends off the field.
Rivals on the field who don't give an inch.

This is how it should be.

Pakistan has a very hospitable, bhai bhai, dosti culture. We should not change our natural characteristics to please others.

“It was a fun moment and these things happen between friends; We have known each other for a long time and have played a lot of cricket together,”

Our cricketers are dense.

Wasim Akram on Mohammad Amir and related issues

"I think we have too much time on our hand. You need characters, you need a bit of rivalry and I am all for it. I am all for Amir, the way he has been saying stuff as a bowler"

"What's the point of going into the PSL game, or any game and shaking hands with the batter and hugging them?"

"Ok, before the game or after the game, I am all for it but during the game, be professional and these little words off the field also add spice to PSL that's the beauty of PSL"

"We should enjoy it instead of criticising individually and consistently"

It’s not words though is it. The national team captain was traded away because he, Imad and Amir could not get on. That’s not just words, it points to a serious falling out between potential future teammates.

Because, for all the Babar haters on here, let’s not forget. He is, by a mile, the best Pakistani batsmen in a decade.

Anyway, they need to all build bridges and Mickey has a job on his hands to make a team environment again. The comments and trash talking didn’t help that situation.

Agree with him.

There is too much of this friendship first drama for the cameras.

Come on, get stuck into your opponent.

How about backing all the talk with some wins? Wasim has been running his mouth behind the scenes without anything to show for two season season.

Cricket in general has become quite vanilla. It has become like that worldwide.

Old days of hostility are long gone. You may still see occasional sledging/fight but most cricketers are friendly with each other nowadays.

Waseem’s favourite line: “we have too much time on our hand”

Urooj’s favourite line: “anything north of…”

His team's not gonna win anything by changing attitude either.

This sort of thing is fine in my view - as Rizwan was injured

Good to see Naseem Shah getting stuck into Colin Munro.

None of this, these guys are our guests.

Does this measure friendliness! wonder why? :D

Jason Roy congratulated by Babar Azam

The suck up culture continues. Pakistan and India (not the cricket team) really need to move on from the inferiority complex.

Babar had to do something to hide his inner pain. That was brutal for him as a captain

Very poor post.

This was the end of the game and people greet each other always.

Are you telling me Babar wasn’t crying on the inside after his team couldn’t defend 240 against the bottom ranked side? I would be hurt, I would be in pain. He is a human too. He knows how to mask his pain

He must be hurting but the fact that he shook hands with an opponent to appreciate his innings is a sign of strength not weakness. This is what great players do.

Which is good. People are upset that he didn’t shake his hand with a frown on his face

Why shouldn’t Babar be happy? He scored a century. Another milestone, another bonus from his sponsors.

Results are always secondary to babar unless his job is on the line.

No Hes a sporting person and understands its a game at the end of the day Sometimes you have to take your hat off and applaud a phenomenal innings or performance and thats what he did

This is the worst them of all, very poor of Wahab.

Think Wahab got stuck - he wanted to have a word, but Guptill was too close, and he came up with this stupidity.

Hassan Ali hugging Fakhar at end of his innings

Pakistan has a friendly bhai bhai culture. Why should we fraudulently mimic other countries when it is not in our nature?

Some banter and talk as Hassan left the field vs LQ

The boys might be friendly with each other but they're no less competitive. I for one am really enjoying the battle between Rizwan and Babar. Riz is coming up with out of the box plans to tame a raging Babar but so far Babar is not letting down.

A lot of needle in this Qualifier between Multan and Lahore!

Shaheen + Rauf giving Pollard a send off after some words exchanged, Rossouw taking issue with Fakhar taking a run when the throw deflected off his bat.

Need some more please.

A playoff must win game does that to the players

funny aqib javed was talking so much nonsense in media, about letting players play, programs, how karachi and other teams should operate, how lhr plans, invested in bowlers only/1st other teams went batters only/1st, we gonna do this that, blah blah blah.... haha... aqib bhai hunh araam ae?

we had a psl before 2016?

The 2016 reference by TheSultan was in reference to Misbah's cake cutting exercise for his beloved Asad Shafiq after he had scored a hundred in a losing cause during the horror series in that tour of Australia.

Sorry it was never a thing in our cricket until Misbah arrived.
