[VIDEOS/PICTURES] How long before patience runs out with Haider Ali?

He needs a coach who can work on his weakness and rectify his low confidence and morale. He needs some support in coaching and needs to play some domestic cricket. Also think he should play the final T20I before going back to domestics.

Toss it up
Fakhar >Haider
Sharjeel > Haider
HSohail > Haider
Imad > Haider
So all in all any of above mentioned players should be picked instead of Haider

The worst thing about Haider Ali right now is that he looks completely out of depth. There is no rhyme or rhythm to his batting...the confidence is not there and the body language looks poor. He does not seem to have a plan when he comes out to bat. And that for me is the big difference between his failures and the failures of the rest of the middle order.

Born: October 2, 2000 (age 22 years), Attock, Pakistan

Happy Birthday Haider Ali

When on song, he’s destructive but he’s lacking in timing, rhythm and overall confidence. For me his rope is up until the wt20 and if he’s still failing then drop him.

Good to see him standing with Yousuf. He has looked very poor in the recent series. But out of all the “middle order” we’ve tried, if he gets the right coaching and mentoring, I have more confidence in him than him than any of the hacks

Another failure for him today but he needs to be persisted with. We don't have many power hitting options in the middle

Useless player

I really hope Fakhar is fit enough before the WC to replace him

:)) this guy is so bad people dont even bother posting their frustrations anymore.

Another joke of a batsman in the squad literally we are playing a man down with Haider in the side

After a certain point its detrimental to the player to continue persisting with him

Haiders failing innings after innings Its gonna negatively affect his confidence and technique

Better to take him out of the firing line Let him get domestic runs under his belt and get his confidence back before being reintroduce

This is not doing haider or pakistan.any good

Another talented batman rushed to the intl. scene.

Let these guys play proper 2 seasons of FC cricket before selecting them.

If any player is to be rushed, then it should be the bowlers only.

Like I said, huge waste of time to have in the squad.

He should be playing FC cricket right now.

Pakistan’s approach is of low value middle order wickets. Thus the aim for these lads (Haider, Ifti, Asif) is to get quick fire 20s and 30s. He got out trying to do just that. Sure, it wasn’t a success but he’s playing in line with the strategy in trying to go for boundaries.

I cant remember last time someone from our middle order scored a quick fire knock. Perhaps it was M Nawaz against India in Asia Cup.

I don’t think I have seen a player regress as much as this kid. He had talent at some point needs to go back to domestic and work on the basics of his game. I think he has been dismissed on the boundary between square leg and mid wicket at least 90% of his last 20 intl innings. It’s a travesty that he is being persisted with when the mistakes are so obvious. He has totally lost his offside game.

Last 5 T20I scores:

6 off 6
18 off 14
4 off 6
3 off 5
11 off 13

He just looks so out of it.

Not to sound bleak, but looks like a lifeless corpse. Just waiting for the axe to drop on his selection.

Fakhar will make the squad they should play Haider for the rest of the Tri Series and then it will be shoot out between Haider or Khushdil on who gets dropped.

Looks like he’s put on some weight too

Agreed

Well the fact that Shadab Khan is coming in ahead of him shows just how much faith the think tank has in him.

Well those 2 balls he smacked for 6 and 4 could be a huge confidence boost for him.

Hopefully even by scoring 10 runs tonight it will give him some self belief.

Hopefully these two cracking shots help him turn a corner. Sometimes this is all it takes.

Gosh these days just two balls can make everyone excited. I will believe in him when he scores a vital 40 odd in a pressure situation.

Nice to see a glimpse of the Haider Ali from a couple of years ago. Hopefully he can build on this in coming games.

Its something to build off. If nothing else it should reinforce that he's at his best when he's all-out attack like he was when he first arrived.

Something to watch again and again :)

Nothing to get happy about at this point but he maybe a better option than Asif Ali @ 6 or 7

Need to see this a bit more - Haider walking off the field without losing his wicket!

Haider Ali is an asset who needs to be presisted with...n should be given confidence to express him self without worring about consequences....he has the talent n the technique to do well at this level...I feel their are too many ppl advising him to do too many different things, which is shaking his confidance

If Pakistan have persisted with that useless khushdil Shah for so many matches without 40 plus score why not this guy who is actually talented and can serve Pakistan for long time.

He should be given confidence and more match time. He can definitely turn out to be an exciting player.

No I think give him the Cameron Green license to kill

Let him have a crack

Lol

Haider seems to have a problem with building an innings and you want him to open? The less responsibilty on him the better at this stage

Lets keep his role simple at 5-6 Come in and have a crack

So Cameron Green is sent up to open by Australia to build an innings?

Mind you, Australia are going to win the 2022 World Cup. They are going to defend their title

Hes our best young batter.

No point ruining him at number 6 7.

Could be number 3 or 4 .

I think it's been seen repeatedly at this point that Haider cannot bat in the middle order. He does not have the ability and certainly lacks the brains for it.

For Haider it should be either opening or finishing. Whatever happens he should be told to swing for the fences as he cannot do anything else.

Look at his FC record, kid has it in him to play all formats, but i think he feels the pressure to up the tempo too much. Actually needs to be a bit more selfish

Haider should have come in when Shadab got out if not coming before him . What kind of confidence if any are we showing in the young man if he can’t be trusted to do a job when the run rate is barely 7 an over .
Let him sink or swim .

I honestly think tests will be his best format.
As a dashing opener.

His confidence is shattered atm and the proper cricket shots he used to play are nowhere to be seen. In t20s, he needs to mix up proper shots with the slogs. Hopefully he will find a balance with time.

For now, until he gets his confidence & form back, he's better off coming at 6 after Shadab/Iftikhar. Keep his mindset simply which is just attacking immediately as soon as he gets in instead of coming at 3/4 and being in two minds between attacking/accumulating.

Haider isnt cameron green my friend And pakistan isnt australia

I think your getting confused again

I agree. For now, 6 should be his position. That clarity of mind is what he probably needs right now.

All I am saying is…what is wrong in trying? We have 2 dead rubbers coming up once NZ beat BD tomorrow

Had a chance today and also got a chance from the third umpire, still threw it away

Bring back Khushdil instead! He's a match winner on his day. Don't ever forget his knock against Hong Kong in the Asia Cup! He will win you 1 game if you give him a 100 chances.

Pitch was slow and chacha at the other end was even slower In pakistan its youngster job to take the risk

He needs to open the innings and Babar needs to be dropped to focus on tests and ODIs a la Joseph Root.

Captain needs to be Iftikhar as a stop gap solution because experience.

And Fakhar needs to come down at #4.

Players and commentators alike were left baffled by a DRS judgement which saw the Black Caps not given a wicket against Pakistan on Tuesday.

New Zealand appealed for a catch down the legside by wicketkeeper Devon Conway off the bowling of Ish Sodhi, with Haider Ali the Pakistan batter in the Twenty20 international at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

The delivery was called a wide by umpire Wayne Knights but Conway was convinced Haider had edged the ball as he swung at it.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson opted to use the Decision Review System and slow-motions replays were analysed by TV umpire Shaun Haig.

The ‘ultra-edge’ technology showed a spike indicating a noise suggesting there was an edge, but with the side-on vision it was a frame after what appeared to be contact between the underside of the bat and the ball.

“I can see a clear gap between bat and ball there,” Haig said.

“There is a murmuring on ultra-edge, but there is a clear gap between bat and ball ... satisfied there is no bat involved.”

Haig then told Knights he could stay with his original decision of not out – and a wide – to the vast surprise and dismay of the Black Caps, who had watched the decision-making on a big screen at the ground, while Haider appeared to be walking off in the belief he would be given out.

“Oh no – I’m confused by that decision. That is not right,” said TV commentator and former Black Cap Craig McMillan.

“There’s a noise, there’s a spike – I’m dumbfounded by that to be honest.”

Haider only added seven runs to his tally after the incident before being dismissed, as Pakistan struggled to 130-7 off their 20 overs batting first.

He should be persisted with and be given this whole series and the WC and if he fails then he should be tried at opening slot for a year or two

Like I said, huge waste of time to have in the squad.

He should be playing FC cricket right now.

Once again, I reiterate he shouldn't be in the squad and instead playing FC cricket.

Huge waste of his time and development.

Bring in Zaman for Haider and Azam Khan for Qadir.

He is even worse than Khushdil. Cannot even score 15-20 runs. A overhyped player and nothing but a parchi.

One of the rubbish player I have ever seen. Him along with his parchi mate Usman should not be even first class leagues. Even Aus/Eng/Ind has better player in their Sunday league teams.

Agree in regards to Usman Qadir but in regards with Haider, the guy had no form and confidence behind him since he was recalled. How do you expect him to click with that in mind? There’s a quality batter in this kid and I believe he will come good for Pakistan in the future but he’s been selected based on no sort of form whatsoever. It just reflects the woeful situation regarding Pakistan’s middle order that he’s been selected. Saying that he shouldn’t be even in first class league is just an over-the-top, emotional reaction. In my opinion, he should be given the rest of this tri-series as well as the Wt20 to miraculously turn his bad form around, however unlikely that may be. If he still flops, which wouldn’t be a surprise, then send him back to domestics to regain his dynamic, run-scoring form. There’s star quality in this kid, be patient.

What more can one say?

Hack - The selectors need to take him out of his misery.

I am running out of patience with him too but not because of what happened today. He got a genuinely good ball today and you have to credit the bowler for it.

Hope he is persisted with throughout the t20 worldcup. I genuinely believe he will win Pakistan some games.

In any case, you can't do away with him at this stage. If he fails in the worldcup, then he should be discarded. But not before that.

I think I kind of agree with you. But Fakhar really needs to come in this XI. Two possible drop options are Shan & Haider to make way for Fakhar.

Shan doesnt make the XI. He simply isn't gifted enough for t20s. He has come up the ranks through sheer hardwork which is okay for the longer formats but You need to have some natural flair for t20s which he doesn't possess. He will be exposed badly against top bowlers in t20s.

Haider has outrageous talent and power. But looks like another Umar Akmal without temperament as of now. In fact even worse than Umar Akmal at the moment. I really want him to come off good because we can all agree about his ability to score quickly when on song. Age is on his side too but you can only be given so many chances.

If Fakhar is fit, he should come in straight away. I agree.

We cant carry players on hope He doesnt look like he can buyna run at the moment and looks hopeless and clueless

He is just gonna weaken a already weak middle order the way hes playing and hurt out chances in the crunch games

He needs to be dropped and sent back home

He should be persisted with and should be given whole wc at no 3 and if he fails in wc at that position then he should be tried as opener for 2 years and even if he fails as an opener then he should be given the role of power hitter down the order for 5 years and even then if he fails as power hitter then he should be played as an off spinner for rest of his life.
