[VIDEOS/PICTURES] Shaheen Shah Afridi - Performance Watch

The potential there is staggering .
So good to watch . He could be as good as anyone in 2 years time.
 
Most pleasing thing with Shaheen is he has the swagger of a fast bowler. Good aggressive fast bowling from a Pakistani after a long time. That ball to Whiteley was very good.
 
Kid is a massive talent, potentially a once in a generation bowler. PCB really needs to look after him, manage his workload.
 
It is too early to say what will become of Shaheen Afridi, but I've really enjoyed watching him bowl so far.
 
The Aussie commies were saying that there is not much that you need to change about his action. Its almost perfect already at 17 years of age. They said all he needs now is experience. And i personally agree with them. He needs a few FC games under his belt to develop temperament of fast bowling. Thats it.
 
If Hasnain is as good as hyped then we're gonna have the best attack in the world in 2-3 years time, for a long time inshaAllah.

Not being a party pooper but you need to take such opinions with a pinch of salt. They are just catering to the audience. Dont get me wrong , I think he is good

That can be the case but as you said, he truly looks good even if we dont listen to any experts.

But i think they did say that his wrist position can be improved further to increase inswing.
 
We are jumping the gun as usual, he is good but nothing earth shattering about him, but if he work really than he can be have decent career for Pak, enough of all talent no performance rant.

4/5 not a performance? The hype is there because he has the raw ingredients of a good fast bowler - height, pace and accuracy. Add the fact he is only 17 (and looks it).

I really want to see Hasnain getting a game, looks a like a confident young man on the bench.

If he is also impactful than we will have a bench strength of fast bowling better than the front line bowlers of some teams
 
The big thing abt Shaheen is that he looks like a match winner at this age. He has not been consistent with his performances but whenever he has performed, the performance has been amazing. Be it against Ireland in U19 world cup where he took a 6fer for 14 runs I guess and now against MS.

I was most excited to see him this PSL. Injuries suck.
 
Someone should just quote all the tools that wrote him off after the first few games. Pakistanis are the worse at identifying genuine talent and on top have the patience of a toddler. They just don't understand the process.
 
Lol at the guys that called him mediocre after three games.

Iqbal and Musa should’ve been here, the former is a ready made test prospect.
 
Good spell, still he should play couple of domestic seasons before joining the big boys. Fast track to pak team may not be a good idea at this time.

Even if he remains on the bench and only plays a couple of games here and there, he’ll learn more than he will in his entire domestic career.

Agree 100% , he will only regress going through our domestics. Do what Imran Khan used to do, pick them up on talent and let him learn the art playing international cricket along with national team and coach.

Yes our domestic system is a circus🤦🏽*♂️.
I just feel he may lose his confidence if he get exposed to top class batsmen before he is ready. That’s a good comeback spell he did after a few bad games.

I guess you didn't see what happened to him earlier in the PSL? He got smashed around and got dropped, to bounce back from such a phainti and disheartening expulsion from the side and get figures of 3-4-5 shows the kid has more mettle than we think.

I'd say Inzi should have Talat and Afridi in our next LOI sides.
 
Yes that’s why I said good comeback spell, he was all over the place in his first few games, could be pressure of debut in league.

Shows he has the guts to take it on chin.. a good sign.

we forget our test bowling is pretty substandard

If shaheen can prove his fitness why not select him in the squad for England?

Hint im saying squad, not 11. Leave up to micky if he plays. Its a short tour and that time with Azhar is probably better than bowling on minefields in Pakistan
 
wow what a smooth action i hope Mr Aqib dont start working with his action.

and did any one notice one of the ball he bowled was 144kph.

Pakistan needs to narrow down 3-4 upcoming fast bowlers and keep them with the national squad. They won't learn much playing in Pakistan's domestic circuit. Train them with the national coaches and send them on A-tours or play them in side matches. Maybe throw them into the deep end if it's a dead rubber. Shaheen definitely makes the cut and so does Iqbal Arshad I feel, the other U19 bowler. In a year or two maybe they'll be ready for international cricket.

Salman Irshad is talented but his action needs work and the national squad is not the place for such things, needs to be worked on in the NCA or perhaps a foreign academy.

He seemed good, but I still think he is a bit raw. He needs a bit polishing and could be the real deal.

He really need to watch his front foot though, back heel almost lands on the line.

He won't bowl enough overs and for long enough in our domestic cricket to learn about bowling. Better for him to be fast tracked.
 
I like his easy action but he lacks aggression to be a frontline fast bowler. Sometimes it feels like he bowls within himself and doesn't go full throttle. :amir3
 
Just let him be and don't hype him over the moon and ruin him. That said, he doesn't come across as someone who will be swayed too much by external factors.

Definitely seems like something there for Pak to invest long term in.
 
Love the aggression and intent. This guy is gonna be the greatest pacer ever produced by PAK. Just needs to bowl around the wicket in tests to right handers . But mostly he seems to be one helluva character - tough as nails .
 
Compared to Aamer at the start of his career this guy is not even close. He has some good ingredients. But he will be sorted out if he doesn't add more variety.
 
Gets better with every outing and full marks for Sarfaraz to trust him with death overs.
 
Why is he only being used at the death? He cant develop by doing that. He should be bowling with the new ball let guys like Faheem and Hasan bowl in the death overs

Tbh he didnt bowl beautifully in that last over tonight
 
He did not bowl beautifully against NZ, he conceded 10 plus runs which is bad bowling at the death.
 
^he is only 18. Still learning but this isn’t going to be great for his confidence.
 
Shaheen Shah Afridi vs England in T20Is - will be an interesting contest.
 
What speed was Shaheen bowling at today. He’s Been in the side for a fair amount of time now so I expect his pace to have improved by now..
 
Shaheen Shah Afridi has been picked only for Tests for the Australia tour to ensure his safe return to international cricket after picking dengue virus in August.
 
unreal talent. please put on some muscle mass though. World class written all over him. Do not overbowl him. Give him to be to build the fitness for test cricket.
