Great partnership between Rizwan and Pujara. Definitely needed the runs under his belt. Nice big score for him.

This is fantastic learning for Rizwan. I am a million percent sure he would learnt a thing or two on how build a red ball innings from Pujara.

Pujara leading the way and a great opportunity for Rizwan to watch and learn.

There isn't a more wholesome cricketer in Pakistan than Mohammad Rizwan. We are very lucky to have him, especially when you compare him to the guy he replaced.

That is a solid bowling action from Rizwan. Tight line and length perhaps bowling at 70 mph.

Indeed! Sublime reflexes and quick feet. All the more impressive as he naturally leans to his right before it richochets of the keeper which forces him to dive to his left!

He'll be disappointed with those numbers.

Failures will give Rizwan a greater insight into his red ball game and also to some extent his 50 over game. He is our greatest T20 batter hands down.

I am glad in a way that he is not scoring a gazillion runs.

Yeah, when I don't care about someone's opinion I always make sure to use 3 lines telling them that.

But sticking to the topic, Rizwan heavily relies on one side of the wicket? Are you sure you are watching the same Rizwan as all of us?

Rizwan is a very busy player who plays all around the wicket. If anything his favorite shot is the pull shot he plays towards backward square leg. Every player is dominant towards one side. Does not necessarily mean they are a 'leg-side' or 'off-side' player. Also, any particular site/organization/person you can attribute that '~90% of his runs' stat to or is that another figment of your imagination aswell?

Btw, Rizwan scored 79 today so I imagine you must be quite shocked. Ofcourse had you looked at the fact that he already averaged 40 in 4 innings in England maybe this would not have been such a shock.

You tell them you do not care for their opinion but continue to indulge in an argument with them? Makes sense :)))

Okay, if you think Rizwan is not one, if not the THE, most leg-side heavy player, then I really do not have anything else to say to you. "Rizwan plays all around the wicket" is one of the stupidest statements I have heard! Lol!

As for the average, you can look at the latest numbers and hopefully get a sense of why I said what I said. Though again, never said Rizwan is going to fail, but just found it hard to imagine him succeeding - and yes, I do not have base my opinions on a sample size of 4.

Wow. You took this long to think of this brilliant response?

Ahan. Unless you have some evidence to back such a specific criticism of a player who is not said to have this limitation by anyone else, your opinion means absolutely nothing.

Right, you base them on on a sample size of 5...which is very different from a sample size of 4, right? Because that's how many innings Rizwan has played for Sussex. Do you even realize that you are essentially contradicting your own argument? Or are you too dense to recognize something so basic?

Riz ends on 81* (60) — carries his bat!

Sussex 150/6 (20)

This guy is not a human!!!

This level of consistency in any sport is unheard of.

Sussex could be caught.

Glamorgan chasing this down hard in the Powerplay.

Easy win in the end for Glamorgan.

Sussex always 30 or so runs short.

"It was a great performance, that's what you want from your overseas players which is to come in and score runs like that and its a shame that we couldn't really support him and post a total that would have proved more challenging for Glamorgan to chase" : James Kirtley, Sussex Head Coach

==

Sussex fell to an opening match defeat at the start of the Vitality Blast campaign.

Mohammad Rizwan made a brilliant 81 not-out in his first T20 innings at The 1st Central Ground as the Sharks set Glamorgan a target of 151 to win the game.

The 29-year-old was making his Blast debut and showed all the skills that have taken him to third in the ICC world rankings, hitting three sixes and six fours and facing 60 balls.

Fellow debutant Josh Philippe was run out, however he can count himself unfortunate that a third umpire was not present, as on second look he may have been home.

Glamorgan fielded with intensity and took some fantastic catches to restrict the home side to a total that looked as though it would be at least 20 or so runs short.

Steve Finn started his Sharks career by taking the wicket of Glamorgan opener David Lloyd who played onto his stumps to give the home side early belief.

From then on Labuschagne and Northeast took control of the game as they put on a second wicket stand of 82 off 61 balls.

Labuschagne eventually fell to a great catch by Harrison Ward off the left-arm spin of Delray Rawlins, but it was not enough to stop the visitors winning the game with an over to spare.

Again, not really interested in your judgement of my response... but you keep going.

Anyhow, as I said, if someone says that Rizwan plays all around the wicket, I don't have anything to say to them. With this statement, they are themselves confirming how well they know his game.

There is no contradiction. You said he'll succeed because we was the best batter in the test series. I said that the test series had too low of a sample size to make that claim. I was only saying that it is hard for me to imagine Rizwan succeeding because of his technique; and he didn't really succeed, did he? You brought up averages and I just pointed you in the same direction. Or are you saying he succeeded in that stint?

Nah bro, I have no desire to keep going. As far as I am concerned this debate is closed. I made my final point fairly definitively and I see no need to add anything more, or read anything you wrote beyond your first line. Why? Because I know I am right, and because I won the debate by pointing out the utterly absurd contradiction of your argument.

I urge you to get a life and stop quoting me. Because I have moved on with my life.

Sussex batsmen are not clicking. Can’t expect Rizwan to win matches single handed.Need two or three batsmen to stand up and score quick 30-40 runs.

Another brilliant knock by Mohammad Rizwan wasn’t enough to prevent defeat for Sussex at Gloucestershire.

Steve Finn was outstanding with the ball for Sharks, returning figures of 2-15 from four overs, but Ryan Higgins made 39 not out from 22 balls and Glenn Phillips contributed a useful 27 as Gloucestershire found acceleration following a sluggish start to their innings.

The home side set Sussex a target of 194 and it was Mohammad Rizwan once again who gave the Sharks a chance of chasing down the victory.

Rizwan top-scored with 58, while Luke Wright and Josh Philippe contributed 25 and 35 respectively as Sussex remained in the hunt.

Wright and Rizwan afforded the Sussex reply solid foundations in an opening stand of 52 in 5.5 overs as the visitors looked to atone for the seven-wicket defeat by Glamorgan in Hove just 24 hours earlier.

Gloucestershire's bowlers held their nerve and David Payne effected a breakthrough when bowling Wright for 25 shortly before the end of the powerplay.

Thereafter, Rizwan found a willing ally in Philippe, the second wicket pair finding the gaps and running hard to advance the score to 88-1 at the halfway point. If Rizwan was prepared to force the issue, Western Australian Philippe proved a perfect foil, working the ball both sides of the wicket and demonstrating a variety of shots to keep the scoreboard moving.

Fresh from posting 81 not out against Glamorgan and in fine fettle, Rizwan moved effortlessly to 50 from 34 balls as the second wicket pairing went from strength to strength, Gloucestershire deploying seven different bowlers in a fruitless attempt to prize them apart.

Yet Gloucestershire were still able to exert pressure, tight overs in the middle of the innings from Naseem Shah and Howell precluding the departure of Rizwan, caught at the wicket in the act of cutting van Meekeren.

Although Sharks' overseas stars had added 76 in 9.2 overs, they still required a further 66 from 4.9 overs, and the odds probably favoured Gloucestershire for the first time when Philippe hit Payne to Higgins on the deep square leg boundary and fell for 35 in the 17th over.

With two new batsmen at the crease, Sussex's task was now a stiff one, and Gloucestershire's bowlers turned the screw to give the home side their first win of the T20 Vitality Blast.

Rizwan is a cheat code in T20 cricket. All the haters have gone quiet now lol.

On the other hand, the camera work is very poor at the vitality blast. Looks like something from the 90's. Not sure how a modern T20 tournament can look this bad; especially an English one! PSL camera work trounces this by far!

He is not a cheat code.

I am not a hater of Rizwan's at all but 58(43) when chasing 194 is nowhere near good enough. You really need the rest of the team to up the scoring rate substantially for you.

Babar does the same slow scoring up front for Pakistan and others don't fire massively in terms of SR, it is detrimental against good opposition capable of scoring big.

Sussex put into bat by Kent - time for some more Riz magic

Rizwan out for 13 vs Kent - guess not his day in batting.

Not sure what the rest of the team will do now

From Sussex

Mohammad Rizwan has now returned to Pakistan ahead of their three match ODI series against the West Indies, which starts on Wednesday 8th June.

Hey RedwoodOriginal!

Look! Another all around the wicket innings by Riz :)))

From Sussex match report:

The visitors’ chances of overhauling Essex’s enormous total largely rested on a lightning start by Rizwan – and the Pakistan star, returning to the side after international duty, did his best to oblige.

After the wicket of Luke Wright, Rizwan and Ali Orr (38) accumulated a stand of 87 from 31, with the latter slamming Allison for a trio of sixes in one over.

Rizwan registered five maximums of his own, including a ruthless swat off Sams that flew out of the ground and, despite pulling up in pain just short of his half-century and limping from then on, he kept Sussex up with the required rate.

Rizwan falls early in today's T20 Blast game vs Glamorgan, out for 5 (6).

Mohammad Rizwan tonight against Surrey:

48 Runs
3 Catches
1 Stumping

A rare failure for Rizwan tonight as he made just 4 off 4 balls.

Excellent 54* from Rizwan
