The war of words between India and South Africa has begun before the two sides clash against each other on June 5.

In a recent interview with cricketmonthly.com, South Africa pacer Kagiso Rabada called Virat Kohli’s on-field behaviour as ‘immature’. Citing his unhappiness with Indian captain, Rabada said that Kohli loves to give it to the bowler but can’t take it when an opponent decides to give it back to him.

Referring to the duel which started between the two in the Indian Premier League 2019 (Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Delhi Capitals), Rabada termed Kohli actions as ‘immature’.

“I was just thinking about the game plan, really, but Virat, he hit me for a boundary and then he had a word. And then when you give it back to him, he gets angry. I don’t get the guy,” he said.

“Maybe he does it because it gets him going, but that comes across as very immature for me. He is a phenomenal player but he can’t take the abuse,” Rabada added.

Rabada also revealed that the incident was stuck on his mind even after the match and wondered if being angry is what makes him the player he is.

“But later that evening, on the bus back to the hotel, I asked myself: ‘That guy [Kohli] always seems to be angry on the field. Is he really angry?’ Then I thought to myself what it would take for me to become really, really angry. That is going to happen very few and far times in between. And becoming angry like that – is that what gets him to play well? Do you know what I am saying? I can’t psyche myself to be angry,” Rabada said.

The two will face off again when India take on South Africa in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 at The Rose Bowl, Southampton on June 5.

He does have a point. Also shows what a good brain he has to analyse it in a different way.

If that is immaturity, then it's taken the team to the top rankings and personal performances to world's best as well.

Nothing wrong in it, every individual is different.

Good. Finally cricketers are speaking up.First Brad Hodge now Rabada.Their mouths have been taped by IPL money.Kohli is India's captain but you can't seriously like him as a bloke.Fake wannabe Aussie thinks he can abuse anyone

This is just an attempt at psychological warfare by Kagiso. Trying to anger Virat before their match against India. He clearly wants Kohli to be aggressive and reckless when batting.

Does Rabada want to rile Kohli up more? He remembers every single line of trash-talk the opposition players give him and we all know how well he plays once he has that drive of simply shutting the other guy up.

The irony is that Rabada is one of the most aggressive and provocative players at the moment. https://www.bbc.com/sport/cricket/43370971
Viratians at it again.
Why can’t you accept virat isn’t perfect??
Actually read what rabada is saying. He doesn’t mind aggression but when someone directs it back to you stop acting like a c... accept it.
If you can’t handle aggression then don’t show it in the first place.

He is immature. The way he mocked Ashwin for his mankading after taking his catch was disgusting.

He says Kohli can’t take abuse. Well why should he take your abuse? I am with Kohli on this one.

Not a good idea if we go by the history. When Virat is angry he usually channelizes it very well. When India toured Australia, First ball he faced from Johnson he got hit on the head. NOt sure what happened later on. THings were not really going on well between them. In that series Johnson and Kohli had their own personal battle

Johnson vs Kohli

133 balls 127 runs 3 times got out to JOhnson. But not before doing a lot of damage to his bowling. He smashed him so bad at the MCG and they dropped him for the final test included Starc.

Read what he said.
First kohli abused him then Rabada replied and then kohli got angry.
Rabada didn’t abuse first

Quite clear Rabada himself couldn't take it. It is still running in his mind. Virat perhaps doesn't even remember.
What Rabada is saying about Virat is more applicable to himself.

And you should read what I said. Why should Kohli take any abuse from him? If Kohli abused him he should be angry too. A big fast bowler acting like a sissy lol.
And this is only his side of story, we haven’t heard Kohli’s version so don’t believe everything you read.

Sure.

Sometimes everyone has this confusion whether he is pretending or actually doing it. There is one theory he does this to psyche himself up. This is why Indian fans were angry when he was sharing jokes with Pak players after the final loss.

This reminds me of a story shane warne told. Basically, when warnie first started playing cricket, alan border told him to pick a weak guy from the opposition and start a verbal fight with him . Continue to fight with the guy in the match. This will get you riled up and improve your performance. Warnie did that and he said it worked!

Rabada is not being smart here with these comments, Kohli feasts on stuff like this and ends up scoring even more.

Either he was tactically trying to rile Kohli up so he takes more risks and gets his wicket, or he's just being bitterly honest.

Kohli is immature and he is fake aggressive, like a bully who can't take a blow. But everyone knows this, we also know just how good he is and how good hell have to be take India far in this tournament.

Kohli is a bit immature Tbh and is easily affected by aggression. Like it stays with him. Like he legit prepared lines in Aus tour and would say in Hindi ‘yeh wali line bolo’ to Pant etc

but he is an ATG and it doesn’t matter one bit

Wasn't same thing true about Australian team as well. Once opposition started giving them back, they would behave weirdly.

Just because of a meaningless World Cup Rabada is jeopardising his IPL career

Did Rabada say anything like this in IPL before his team played against Kohli's team? Contrary to what Pyjama League fans believe, players will always keep World Cup above any mickey mouse matches.

Rabada vs Kohli is an interesting battle to watch out for. :inti

Kohli doesn't have a mental block to fight through.

Don't be so defensive. Fans like you are the reason foreign players are afraid of saying bitter truth. :jk

Virat Kohli is one of the best batsman in the world. But when it comes to behaving on the field he really looks immature. There is no doubt about it. :inti

Yes Kohli is a bit immature, but i think Kohli will win the battle against Rabada on the field!

Wow! Some real aggression from this kid. Nice. Just trying to rile team India up. Nothing more than that. Still hurting from that 5-1 drubbing we handed out to SA . Rabada was playing and there was nothing he could do stop that phanti. :)

People forgetting that this is WC and that invariably means failure for Kohli.

Jamodis dont matter! This is the WC! The no.1 batsman in the world vs the no1 bowler in the world! Lets get it on!

Who cares dude? Australians behave the same way. Nobody talks about them. Kohli is an easy target because of our own inferiority complex. Shed it already!

IPL is here to stay forever :sachin , ODI WC will be vanished just like Rabada :kohli

Kohlli will send Rabada to mental asylum just like how he sent Malinga before :faf

Whole India stands up and thanks Rabada for this is exactly the kind of thing that was needed to awake the beast.

You have done us a huge favour my brother.

Bohot maaarega ab Kohli :kohli

Rabada is 100% right. This rat has been such an embaressment lately. My blood boils everytime I remember how this idiot was laughing and joking around after the CT final with Pak players as if nothing had happened. If you ask me, he's a better actor than his wife!

Whats he supposed to do cry? Would that make you feel better? He might of cried in private, but didnt want to in public as it would show weakness and he is suppose to be strong because he is the CAPTAIN OF INDIA!

He couldve NOT laughed and joked.

Nah! He was just trying to please a handful of Pakistani fans like you!

If he made these comments any other time I would agree with him. The timing suggests attempts at mind games, which would be interesting if they weren't coming from a player whose team has some serious mental issues when it comes to world cup games.

I find nothing wrong with the timing. This is the right time to rile him up and of course, a trick played by Rababa. But can Kohli take this as a challenge and destroy the opposition on the big stage? This is the real test for Kohli's mental toughness(fake or not).

That's all good on paper, but should a team struggling with the choker tag really be getting into this fight. Rabada is putting unneccessary pressure on himself to perform against a guy who loves being singled out, there is nothing kohli seems to like more than playing with a chip on the shoulder. Rabada just gave him one.

Don't do this stuff against Kohli when you have a match against him. He will be extra motivated

Funny also because Rabada is the opposite of Kohli. One four and one verbal from Kohli will make Rabada go into a shell for the rest of the match while Kohli will keep feeding on it.

Like Pakistan fans and cornered tigers, Indian fans and their stupid romanticised "Don't sledge Kohli, he will thrash you" narrative. I mean, how childish!!

It can backfire on Rabada too.

I know you are an IPL fan so you are not used to these pre match verbal battles between players. This is pretty normal in international cricket. Get used to it quickly before the world cup ends. :inti

This is going to be epic best bowler vs best batsman.Though i really like virat and i do like kagiso i think kagiso is right virat is bit immature but it doesn't matter he is the best in the world.

Gone are the days when we had battles like Warne vs Sachin, Akthar vs Sachin in WC matches. And now all we got is Rabada vs Kohli or Aamir vs Kohli silly battles. And to top it up, he goes back to the bowler to gift his bat after picking his wicket.

Rabada ::: Kohli is immature, can't take abuse and is always angry ....

Indians ::::: Who cares, as long as he hits centuries and wins us matches.....

I think Virat Kohli is set to become the most influential cricketer of all time. I have never seen an Asian cricketer as influential as him, before, in the International arena, other than Imran Khan may be.

I remember during SA series Rabada had a verbal fight with Kohli i guess in every other ODI and Rabada everytime dominated him. No wonder in that ODI series he was by far the best batsman. In that 160 run innings he just smashed Rabada to every part of the ground just like what he did to Johnson.

Sorry kohli everytime dominated him

He was more popular in India, but I don't think he was that influential overall in the International arena, he wasn't talked about that much compared to Virat Kohli in the international arena.

I think you have just answered your own question. He was trying to portray himself as strong and not weak.

You have got it wrong. You will not become any less MAN if you show real emotions. When you fake, you come across as a coward.

Kohli is a pro wrestling heel. He is abrasive on the ground but outside, he is a pretty cool guy.

Rabada messing up with the wrong person here...he better consult with Mitch johnson and Faulkner before playing these mind games with seasonal campaigner like kohli...

Stick to the topic.

No need for personal remarks.

Mind games bring played. Kohli wouldn't mind it one bit. This is how he gets himself pepped up and this is all fodder for him to perform well.

Mitch Johnson made Kohli his little puppy in the last WC
