Virat Kohli showing AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla who the boss is

And as far as Odis are concerned, Kohli is also a choker in World Cups. Lets not pretend as if he has left the likes of De Villers far behind in the tournament that matters.

He was the worst Indian batsman in 2011 WC. Completely outperformed by Sehwag, Gambo, Sach, Yuvi, Dhoni and even Raina.

Even Rohit is better than him in ICC tournaments...

I rate Gambhir/Dhoni's wc 2011 knock much better than this..TBH this knock of Kohlis overrated..For me Raina's knock was the real deal..It could have gone either way until that littile innings. Kohlis was a good knock, but it was Raina who gave even kohli that confidence to cut loose...yes he finished it beautifully but on the platform built by Rohit and Raina...It makes me sad that nobody gives any credit for these two players...

Raina's knock was useful but awful. Edging all day everyday :farhat

This Kohli's knock was all about brains.

This is one of the best LOI knocks I have seen.

Not because of the skills exhibited but the planning that went behind it.

Staggeringly good innings.

Yep but that risk has to be taken, otherwise it would have gone into the wire and who knows what would have happened with Dhoni taking forever to get settled. Some one has to play ugly...Kohli absolutely balanced. But it was a one man show as people are claiming even Rohit was also playing ugly shots.however that has given us a good start...

Yaar he was 22 in 2011, and was made to bat at random positions (batted 7 and 8 in that WC lol) .. cannot make judgement on ICC performances on that basis bro.

I do feel in hindsight that SA really bowled poorly. Too many balls on the stumps to Kohli (he is a leg side monster) and they didn't really plug that line outside off for long enough to him.

Yes well planned...but India's RR was very good when he comes into bat..that shouldn't be forgotten..

I am not discrediting the lad..He is awesome.I am just against the overhyping...

Why Kohli got most of the credit was because he remained not out and finished the match. Raina's late flourish enabled India to close out one over earlier, India would have won the match anyways because of Kohli's knock. Infact, Kohli appeared so settled that he would have been ready to chase 15+ in the last over.

He was half the player in 2011 he is now. In the 2013 CT, he did very well and played a crucial innings in the final.

And there will always be some risk involved in that , even the best batsman would only have a 50% chance of scoring 15 runs in last over.

I remember SA needed 40 runs off 23 balls , at that point Yuvraj had just got out and Raina had come in.

And the next 6 balls by Parnell to Raina just finished the match there itself with India needing only 20 runs in last 3 overs. That was game point.

But we cannot expect one Batsmen to do all the scoring in the middle order and playing cameos at the end so to support a Good Innings by Kohli such cameos are always needed.

Without Kohli's innings , such cameos would be nothing.

I have no issues for Kohli getting most of the credit,he deserves it..But giving full credit is not fair..which has happened now..

Raina played a fluke innings full of edges and mishits. Rohit although provided the much needed lift for India.

170 is a steep target in T20s especially if you don't start aggressively. Doesn't matter how many Kohlis and Dhonis you have.

That was so frustrating to watch, I'll be honest. :)))
And then it was Parnell who was blamed for all those edged runs, too.

Re: Kohli showing de Villiers and Amla who the boss is.

This.

South Africa bowled really badly. Steyn didn't even show up. They opened the bowling with Duminy and the wrong Morkel. Why is Albie Morkel still playing?

Only useful bowler for SA was Hendricks.

Let's be honest, Amla and de villiers aren't fit to tie Kohli's laces when it comes to pressure situations (t20 and odis). Will be surprised if Kohli doesn't surpass them in tests as well.

I would still rate ABDV as a superior ODI batsman. Kohli is on a different planet in T20's.

Amla should not even be in the debate.

That is also true, but Rohit and Dhawan can fire any time.

Problem is, they're about as consistent as Umar these days in matches that actually mean something. In-fact, you can argue that Umar has had a better WC (in-terms of run scored).

De villiers is probably better when it comes to bilaterals and when batting first. But when the pressure is on, Kohli is in a different league. I would have to say Kohli's performances are more impressive since he usually makes it count when it really matters

True. AB I feel generally gets overwhelmed with pressure situations. He gets out in unfortunate ways. I still remember how he came on to his own in that semi final against NZ and rain came in. He is a beast and every Indian fan rates him as equal to Kohli..

De Villiers was let down by his team in the 2015WC knockouts, while Kohli let his team down in the same tournament's knockouts.

In ODI's i would take ABDV, in both LOI's combined , Kohli.

You will take De villiers over Kohli when chasing in an odi? I know most people wouldn't think twice about picking Kohli .

LOL. Dhawan is as good as a poor man's Sharjeel Khan at best.

Rohit is an over rated hack who becomes a walking wicket when the pitch does not allow him to plant his front foot forward and hit through the line.

If not for rain in WC semis 15, ABD would have hit a 60 ball century and make it 0-7 for NZ in semis. SA might have lost to Aus in WC finals but that would have been a gem of knock. As of now Kohli has performed in Worldt20 and CT when it mattered. He just needs to strike in 50 overs World Cup for India..

Ab devilliars is overrated, I've never seen him perform when it matters, he's only good in IPL.

Another dead rubber, another Amla special today. His team needs to tell him that they're playing a meaningless odi series or t20 series game whenever they play tournaments.

He has the skill, and if he finds some sort of courage in pressure games he may thrive.

But for more than 5 years he has bottled it in big games. Next year is one of his last big tournaments so let's see if he delivers.

Insh Allah :amla

Three years on, same story......

Kohli continues to prove his dominance over the gutless duo when the stakes are high.

If this was a bilateral series, India would've been whitewashed . India really turn up for big events, and then get whitewashed from the likes of NZ for the rest of the year. SA is the opposite who never go all the way in a big event.

As expected Mamoon is over the moon for India and Kohli. Congratulations by the way.

Have another bilateral series and we will see if the saffers or kiwis can whitewash us in their own backyard

Mamoon The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I think Kohli will surpass them in test as well. It was ridiculous to see run outs today and in once instance two batsmen were competing to run on the same end.
