Virender Sehwag: "Pakistan Zindabhaag"

Waqar apologised for his comments and his comments were directed towards Hindus.

Unless you are unequivocally equating Hindus with India, which then proves the point of RSS hosting this WC.
nobody is equating hindus with india.

What a tool this guy. Doesnt hold back at all an ultra nationalistic person.

Wouldn’t be bad just the bye bye parosis or somethin. but ‘Zindabhaag’ has more to it.

nobody is equating hindus with india. tomorrow a salman khan movie is releasing as part of diwali celebration. we dont differentiate between hindus muslims or sikhs. you guys wont understand that.
The why did you bring up Waqar’s comment which was purely referring to Hindus, and not Indians?

A pathetic excuse of a human being. He has always had an agenda against Pakistan and Bangladesh. God knows why!

It’s harmless banter.

If you don’t want to be in the receiving end of it, stop appointing guys like Misbah and Babar as captains because they’ve both turned Pakistan into a joke in multiple ICC events.

Lol, so many Indian posters calling him a moron, stupid, low class but the usual self-hating Pakistanis defending him :inti

All it'll do is make Pakistani fans troll India for 4 more years if India does not manages to win this World Cup.

One more thing, never ever celebrate beforehand. More often than not, it comes to back you on the back. Same thing happened to us in CT, 2017.

As if there would be no trolling if he kept quiet? Let's be real. Indians and Pakistanis don't need a reason to find joy in other's failures.

It would have continued for a few months. Now, it'll continue for 4 more years if India flunks.

I don't see why some pakistani are getting so serious about a tweet..... People say lots of things, some may have a intention of trolling. If this is the default reaction from pakistani fans and if it takes this much of small dig to get under your skin, then pakistani fans are even worse than indian fans (who also can't fathom joke/saracasm).

"Don't bring others in to discussion as the title of the thread does not allow it" seems to be the usual deflection here. If you can't draw parellel between others, then its just a pretty narrow way to look at things in my opinion.

Googled the word Zindabhaag and couldn't find a convincing meaning. But going by the reactions in this thread, I guess it is something bad.
Sehwag's statement is unwarranted, especially when they are our guests. This set of PCT players are well like-able and they deserve respect.

Zinda = Alive ( Or while you are alive )
Bhag = Run

So depending on the context it could mean anything from harmless fun to tone-deaf or insensitive comment. Definitely not religious or vulgar or un-parliamentary or crude language.

oh okay. Thank you @uppercut. Given the WC context, it does appear fun intended, but I see it could be construed a statement in poor taste. I guess Sehwag doesn't know the difference between rivalry and respecting your fellow cricketers.

It's a word play with zindabaad.

Nothing to do with being alive or whatever.

I am surprise some Indian people are acting as if they haven't noticed the wordplay.

Sehwag's trolling may be crass but there are no religious overtones here.

Yes, it is a word play, and he wanted to be funny. But the meaning "run while you are alive" could be received differently.

Iam surprised you think no-one ( especially me ) is aware that its a wordplay !

Street level trolling from Sehwag. That's not a jibe with any wit.

As expected, posters previously correctly suspected the reasons behind Sehwag's initial tweets.

It means thank your lucky stars your going back home alive from my country & not in body bags.

To be honest, knowing Sehwags's mental abilities when it comes to non-cricket things, don't think he meant it!

As expected, when Sehwag got the heat, we ran around asking someone to help him

You must be very naive.

That qualifying only once for the semi finals in the last 6 World Cup tournaments hurts!

Awful for a proud cricketing nation like Pakistan.

There is nothing more to read about Viru's Tweet apart from the fact.
On another note - Viru is giving tough time to Pak fans even post his retirement as well ;)

I was upset with Viru's tweet up until yesterday as thought it was a bit below the belt. But now that he has given reasoning and screenshots, I can see the context and from where he is coming from. Newton's law is still applicable in 2023 i.e every action has equal and opposite reaction. Don't dish out...if you can't take it.

I mean can you believe PM of a country tweeting 152/0 vs 170/0? Who does that? :ROFLMAO:

Good on Viru for giving it back with full monty (y)

Then you are nothing better than him.

Banter is fine.

Badtameezi is not on

It was just a play on words wanting to sound similar to zindabad and every poster here knows that too but when you are losing as badly as Pakistan is, their fans want to make it sound to be something grave and the usual victim card comes out.

No all posters picked up what he was trying to say and it was vile and crass.

You should accept it also but then you can be like Sehwag.

No. As i said, pakistani ex cricketers politicians celebs make a lot of crass tweets. Sooner or later someone from India was bound to reply in kind.

But i don't want Indians to fall to that level.

And what heat will Sehwag feel for tweeting against Pakistan? What consequences if any he is likely to face?

Social media.

Why else would he feel the need to clarify with this follow-up, surely he has nothing to explain?

That's your opinion.

152/0 vs 170/0 from PM of a country is not banter but Badtameezi in my opinion. Can you expect a Narendra Modi or Rishi Sunak's of the world tweeting like this? And I am not even talking about posts from failed cricketers like Imran Nazir etc.

It was only obvious someone will give it back. Good on Viru and if it makes me not better than him, I absolutely love it.

Zindabhaag

If this how you speak to people then I have noting further to discuss with you.

He just followed up on his tweet. Doubling down on it.

He has received big support in India for trolling pakistanis.

So because he was receiving support from like minded individuals, he decided to clarify himself.

Then what is the need of trolling Pakistan for attention of media? He can focus on his business and do something innovative to get media attention
It's called giving back. He certainly didn't accuse Pakistani players of cheating, did he?

It's called being a crass individual which he is.

No other way around this - mental gymnastics etc aside.

We deserve this humiliation. We got a team full of washed up players. Afridi trundling in and haris spraying it around. And our bowling supposed to be our strength lol

It has absolutely nothing to do with your team. The guys that representing your team in the field are all fine lads, atleast conduct wise, not sure about their cricketing acumen.

Problem is Pakistani ex cricketers and politicians makes a big deal and goes overboard whenever India is down and out. I mean I can create a list of what all has been said and by whom in last couple of years since that Dubai T20 game. It was only a matter of time that someone will give it back in the same language. No point playing victim card then.

Excellent stuff from Sehwag (y)

So according to your theory, all those things said by Pakistani ex-cricketers are good to go. Pakistan team is still in your country and you are saying stuff like this is not okay. Let them go out of your country and then you can bash them for their performance and all that zindabhaag stuff.. Hospitality is a word no found here.

Great to see some true colours coming out here. Noted.

Sehwag is saying it in his personal capacity. He is not responsible for hospitality of Pakistani cricketers. It is the job of BCCI and they have left no stone unturned in giving Pak players a safe and secure environment to play. Not sure why you are mixing the things up?

Do you thinking tweeting 152/0 vs 170/0 by a sitting PM is in good taste?

Indians no longer follow Gandhi who said if you get slapped in one cheek...allow them to slap in other too. It is an era of retribution and they will give it back with discounts. That is exactly what Sehwag did and I fully support him.

He is in media because he was a world class player.

That has nothing to do with his apparent intent to troll pakistanis.

Its just how people react.

12 years on PP has taught me one thing. Except a few, don't take views of pakistani cricketers celebs and politicians seriously. Even pakistanis don't.

It's called being a crass individual which he is.

No other way around this - mental gymnastics etc aside.

Not everyone has learnt to ignore the crass comments from Pakistan.

Few will give it back as well.

Don't take it seriously. You for one has taught me how to filter out most of the comments that come from Pakistan.

Its the same this side.

May be that money is not enough for him.

This isn't about money. Its that some people just want to retaliate. That's all.

I said in my first post, I don't want Indian cricketers to fall to the level that some pakistani cricketers fall to.

Unfortunately, that isn't happening.

If Virendra Sehwag used word opposite to “zinda”, then it’s a objectionable statement

Virendra Sehwag may got inspiration from member named BhaagVirubhaag to make this statement
Had he got inspiration from me, he would have said 'Bhaag Zinda Bhaag'

Babar and co got criticied for losing in world cup finals or semi finals and not going all the way.

Here Sehwag is chest thumping about reaching semis haha.

What the hell. Who boasts about that.

Just because you got triggered by 152/0 vs 170/0 that was in a bad taste? He kept it short, clever and to sports only. I don't know how can you compare that comment with Sehwag's comment. Maybe find a better example? :inti

Babar and co. have never made the semis of a World Cup.

T20 WC isn't the WC. Its called T20 WC.

Loved it

World cup is a world cup when you are making comments like the one Sehwag.

But regardless it doesn't matter.

Is making world cup semi finals an achievement worth trolling about?

Are you guys that easily satisfied.

So Sehwag wants the Pak team to go back home in body bags & your ok with it ?

Pls don't get so dramatic. He never mentioned body bags and all. He just used the word Zindabaad in the form of banter as Zindabhaag after Pak team got eliminated from the world cup. Agreed it was in poor taste and I was also not in favour of that yesterday. But after he posted those screenshots, I can understand where exactly he is coming from. Some of the comments came from Pak side was absolutely crass and Sehwag responded in similar tone.

World Cup vs World T20.

I am shocked that he referred pakistani players with tea was mocking indian soldiers only reflects his low mentality and lack of common sence. By doing that he is also putting pak players at risk in India

No.

This is the World Cup. The winners will be called the world champions.

World T20 winners are called Just T20 World champs.

Abhinandan have been mocked with that tea jibe a number of times during PSL. Esp by Tapal tea on the big screen in stadiums.

We all know atleast one person (could be anyone like friend or relative) in our life who tries too hard to be funny but ends up producing more cringe than his last attempt.

Sehwag's sense of humour is equally proportional to Anu Malik's sense of shayari.

Same way you got triggered by Sehwag's comment. That is exactly what his tweet was for and it served the purpose.

What a lame comeback lol. Maybe read my first comment in this thread to ease your pain. I took it lightly and don't take his comments seriously anyway but you are defending his comment like he paid you for it. Look at the comments of other Indians in this thread. Do they look triggered to you? Why do you go an extra mile to prove your patriotism here? Is there any guilt lol? :inti

Tension mat le bhai. Nothing bad is going to happen to Pak or any other team's players in India.
