India has never really had deep ties with any nation. That's why it is currently a regional and international pariah. Ties are merely transactional based on how much gear they can punt to India.

I can personally attest to this. I was at a club last weekend and this dude randomly shows up to me and asks me if i am Indian. I say no, i am from Pakistan. Way more than Americans, Europeans and most other nations. I have heard things from Russians about India that put me to shame as an Indian and as a Hindu for not being aware of them.

Whenever i was asked about my nationality out of curiosity and told them i was an Indian i was always greeted even more warmly by them citing friendly relations between both nations.

Racism , contempt against Indian community is more prominent in American, European nations as they carry a chip and have a huge colour based racist mentality besides a growing insecurity about hard working Indians securing small businesses and high paying jobs. Not to say that this doesn't exist in Russia as there are many high headed Russians too but generally speaking Russians definitely carry a positive fascination.

You're probably right. There is a certain level of casual racism towards brown skin and beards in the UK and Europe that's not yet there in Russia. Probably comes from familiarity.
