"We know South Africa haven't played a top-quality leg-spinner in three years" : Sarfaraz Ahmed

If Yasir is dropped for 2nd Test, it’ll be quite hilarious for Sarfraz to explain why they played Yasir on SAF’s least spin friendly track and then despite SAF’s limitation (of not playing a quality leggi in 3 years), why he is dropped on the most spin friendly surface?

But, I do think Yasir was hard done by this batsmen - 181 or 148 are too small total for any spinner to come into play.

He should play the next 2 games if their is something in it for the spinners.

I think 180 in the 4th innings would have been enough.

Yasir Shah needed for variety but Cape town pitch should also decide if needed or not.

Shadab for Yasir, almost like for like replacement plus the fact Shadab has a googly and is not a dud with the bat(Shadab has 3 test fifties)... Sure, he’s not as consistent as Yasir, but he’ll only improve with the amount of game time given to him.

South Africa not in any trouble from Yasir - maybe the issue is that the match needs to go into the 4th or 5th day for Yasir to do his work

Yasir will be of no use.this match wont go into the 5th day anyways.

The field placements suggest that safaraz has no faith in him or may be wants him to settle into some rhythm first. His spell after lunch would decide the match and the series.

Mickey Arthur at pains to justify Yasir's inclusion in team - guess taking the game into the 4th day was too much to ask from the rest of the side.

I’ve been saying for months, in South Africa a spinner is a specialist batsman unless he gets to bowl fourth on Day 5.

That’s why South Africa has never produced a world class spinner.

Mickey knew he needed four quicks, and Inzamam gave him two quicks too few in the squad, while Sarfraz insisted that Yasir Shah would tie down an end like Saeed Ajmal.

Yasir is not just a waste of space outside Asia (and London), he takes the place of the Fourth quick and wears the quicks out too fast.
