"We would like to carry forward the momentum we gained from the ICC T20 World Cup" : Babar Azam

Following an impressive T20 World Cup campaign, Pakistan team are looking forward to carrying the momentum into the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh.

Pakistan captain Babar Azam, who led his side to the semifinals of the mega event, emphasised on continuing their stellar run of form in the pre-match press conference ahead of the first T20I match, set to take place at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur tomorrow from 2pm Bangladesh time.

"Momentum always matters in cricket. We would like to carry the momentum of the T20 world cup," Babar said.

Despite the disappointing display by the Tigers in the world cup, Babar reckons Bangladesh will be a difficult side to play against on their own soil.

"Bangladesh is not an easy opponent, especially in their home conditions, and they have shown against New Zealand and Australia in recent past what they are capable of," Pakistan skipper added while informing about the change of personnel in their squad.

"We would like to test our bench strength here and this is the reason why we have changed four players in our 12-player squad for the first game against Bangladesh."

The right-hander opener is confident about carrying his own form with the bat as well.

"I am pretty much confident about my own form and will try to do better here too but I am always ready to learn and I try to put some extra yard in each training session," said the 27-year-old as Babar concluded by appreciating the support from the local fans.
.
"Bangladesh is a cricket-loving nation and we have seen their support for Pakistan cricket.

"They even regularly watch our training sessions from the rooftops and stand by the roadside to wave at our team bus."

Pakistan will take on host nation Bangladesh on Friday for the first match of the three-match T20I series in Dhaka. More than 12,500 cricket fans are expected to turn-up at the stadium for the series opener.

Following the opener, the two sides will play on 20 and 22 November at the same venue. The visitors are playing their first bilateral series in Bangladesh in more than five years.

The two sides have clashed in 12 T20Is, Pakistan have won 10 out of the matches with Bangladesh recording both their wins at the same venue in the one-off T20I in 2015 and the 2016 Asia Cup encounter.

Meanwhile Pakistan captain Babar Azam has announced the 12-member squad for the first match:

Babar Azam (Captain), Shadab Khan (Vice Captain), Fakhar Zaman, Haider Ali, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Mohammad Wasim Jr., Shaheen Shah Afridi, Shoaib Malik

Shoaib Malik is also the second most runs getter from Pakistan against Bangladesh in this format. He has 208 run with an avg. of 34.66 which includes one half-century.

Opening duo of Pakistan Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are taking all records under their belt. Babar Azam has scored fastest 2500 T20I runs in just 62 innings. He broke the World record of Virat Kohli who crossed the milestone in 68 T20I’s innings.

On the other hand, Mohammad Rizwan is the highest T20I runs getter in a calendar year. He has scored 1033 runs in 23 matches with an avg. of 86.08 and strike rate of 136.45. It includes a century and 10 half centuries.

Such a shame malik is still playing.
This is the best time to test bench strength. What would happened if we loss? What would happened if we win?

Australia lost 4-1 to Bangladesh yet they won the WC.

Babar is an A grade coward. He is not someone who can build a team. He is lucky that Micky Authur has given some youngsters to this team

Nawaz will play,Haider Ali will play.
Dahani isn't in the squad.

What momentum? :91:

Pakistan is a nothing team. Everyone knows they would have been on the first plane home if Babar didn’t get lucky with the toss against India and New Zealand.

A much needed reality-check for the players and the fans.

i dont understand, if you think pakistan is a rubbish team, then why waste your precious time discussing, analysing and commenting on it on an online forum.

Dont you have better things to do?
Or is this your entertainment? if this is your entertainment source then i'm afraid you're not very bright.

Good to see we can bat deep and grind out wins when necessary.

I'm a little unsure of the value of this series in the long term - beyond just having a series - given the pitches and conditions Bangladesh tend to produce.

Anyway, looking forward to the tests but good to see us carry forward some momentum from the world cup.

Is this joker watching the same game as us or he’s still enjoying Pak vs aus semi final highlights since he can’t watch the india v Pakistan highlights to satisfy his pathetic ego. First this hypocrite said it was a complete performance by Pakistan against India than when Pakistan lost the the semi final he came out of hiding finally to say that was a fluke win against his bhrat mata and newzeland. Only a proper t20 team can win from 20-4 if it has batting depth and resources especially on these nagin dance pitches produced by Bengalis. All aside you’ve definitely got the phainta of your life so enjoy and bardasth karo like bhajji.

A win is a win. Credit where due, Pakistan played really top quality cricket in the WT20 this year except maybe those final overs of the semi final where the knockout pressure got the better of them. Had Wade not played the inning of his lifetime, Pakistan would have probably gone on to win the tournament. They were very close this time.

Babar Azam speaking to PCB:

In all three matches against Bangladesh, the Dhaka crowd gave full support

In COVID-19 days, we missed the crowd at the stadium

I am very happy to have won 17 T20 matches in a year

All this is the result of the hard work of the team

In order to win, it is important to first identify your shortcomings

We needed to improve fielding and lower middle order

Our fielding has improved a lot in the last few months

Match finishing is also a habit in the lower middle order

As captain, I only tell my players their role

But we will continue our hard work

I did not bat as expected in this series

Khushdal Shah, Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Nawaz performed very well

We will try to maintain the continuity of better performance in the test
