West Indies tour of Bangladesh (2025) [3 ODIS and 3 T20Is]

Shakib scored 600 runs on good batting tracks in 2019 world cup. BD should exclusively play on batting tracks and back their spinners to come good thrlere.

BD will not progress in white ball cricket with slow and low pitch like Mirpur. it damages BD cricket not touring team. when will BCB learn?
I think they are desperate for some WC qualification scenarios. There are some higher scoring grounds now in BD like Chittagong, Sylhet, Rajshai.

Next WC will be in RSA where pacers will dominate plus you need pace bowling all-rounder. Saifuddin is our best pace all-rounder but BCB never worked on developing his game.

Even I as a layman knows we should be playing in sporting wickets with pace dominating even if it means playing qualifiers.

All SENA countries now produce batting friendly Surfaces in white Ball 90% of Time

Pak also plays on literal roads in white ball

Same for India

only BD makes such tracks. I remember before t20 wc in 2021 , NZ toured and games were slow drag. not a great advertisement of Game

Yes, I do think that our women game against SRL need to be investigated. They went from 99% chance of winning to 0% in matter of just few balls.

Left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein kept his composure in a tense Super Over to guide West Indies to a thrilling win over Bangladesh in the second ODI of the three-match series at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on Tuesday.

Hosein, who earlier bowled a disciplined spell of 2 for 41 in 10 overs, was entrusted by skipper Shai Hope to defend 11 runs in the one-over eliminator. The over began in dramatic fashion as Hosein delivered a wide followed by a front-foot no-ball, gifting Bangladesh four runs before even bowling a legal delivery.

However, the left-arm spinner regained his rhythm just in time, holding his nerve under pressure as Bangladesh managed only nine runs off the over — falling two runs short of the target.

Earlier, batting first in the Super Over, West Indies scored 10/1, with captain Hope leading the way by smashing seven runs off three balls.

In the main game, the visitors appeared poised for victory while chasing 214, needing just five off the final over with Hope still at the crease. But Saif Hassan bowled a brilliant last over, conceding only four runs to push the match into a dramatic finish.

Hope anchored the West Indies innings with an unbeaten 53 off 67 deliveries, including four boundaries, while Keacy Carty contributed 35 off 59 balls. Among Bangladeshi bowlers, Rishad Hossain impressed with 3 for 42, supported by Tanvir Islam and Nasum Ahmed, who took two wickets apiece, while Saif claimed one.

Earlier in the day, Bangladesh had opted to bat first and posted 213/7 in their 50 overs, as the West Indies deployed an all-spin attack to exploit the slow Mirpur surface.

Soumya Sarkar top-scored for the hosts with a patient 45 off 89 balls, while captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz added a valuable 32 not out off 58 deliveries.

For the West Indies, Gudakesh Motie led the wicket tally, but it was Athanaze who delivered the standout spell — conceding just 14 runs from his 10 overs and taking two wickets. Hosein backed him up with another tidy performance, while Roston Chase and Khary Pierre went wicketless.

Question is why is there a super over in a bilateral ODI? It wasn't like this in the past. These were ties in the past.

Super Over should only be used for ICC knockouts and T20s. :inti

It was a very retarded decision to send in Shanto and Soumya for the Super Over (considering bowler was a spinner).

They should've sent in Saif, Tawhid, and Rishad. Possibly the 3 best Bangladeshi hitters against spinners.

Soumya is vulnerable against spinners and so is Shanto.

Brainless and retarded management. :inti

Super Overs became mandatory sometime in Oct. 2023

But even before that , teams could choose to do so if they agreed on it bilaterally.

Eg. PAK vs ZIM in 2020

Pitch got even worse in the 2nd innings. And it began with the ball turning 5 + degrees for Motie and co.
Both Sri Lanka and bng shamelessly opted for bat first win game kind of surfaces to secure the points. No wonder both are struggling with inconsistency, mediocrity, lacklustre tournament performances and headless chicken performances against strong opponents on out of comfort zones.
