England trying to scuff the ball up - umpires 'have aword' with them

Swan gets another LBW

159-3

Sarwan 108(175) - Chanderpaul 45(76)
WI 235-3 after 69.2 overs @ 3.38 - trail by 365 runs
42.4 overs remaining today

50 up for Chanderpaul.
Chanderpaul and Sarwan are 2 S's for WI like Pakistan had 2 Y's in there middle order

To my post #213, just checked :moy stats that he would had have 6 straight 100+ but after first two he got out on 56 then 3 straight hundreds. Mash Allah what a player!

And that's tea - West Indies' session by a long shot. 102 runs in the session and barely a sniff of a chance offered. We're back in about 20 minutes

Sarwan 118(198) - Chanderpaul 63(113)
Current partnership 106 runs, 31.2 overs, RR: 3.38 (Chanderpaul 63, Sarwan 37)
WI 265-3 after 79 overs - trail by 335 runs
33 overs remaining today

Has Sambit Bal written an article about this disgraceful pitch, by any chance?

Given how much the pacers have struggled wouldn't it be useful to have had Amjad Khan making his debut - he did take 5 wickets in the warm up game.

Surely not, 900 runs and 9 wickets in 2.5 days?

That's perfectly acceptable test match cricket outside Pakistan :sarfraz

Is this another 'travesty' in the making?

Darryl "The Cheat" Harper gives Chanderpaul LBW, Hawk-eye clearly shows the ball going over the stumps by a large margin.

84.5 Anderson to Chanderpaul, OUT, Anderson's got him! The inswinger darts back into Chanderpaul who shoulders arms, and up goes the finger. As you'd expect, it's been referred by Chanderpaul and the problem now is height. Now, the third umpire doesn't have the benefit of predictive hawkeye so they can't tell whether it would've gone over the stumps, but they don't even need hawkeye. It is that obvious. Up goes the finger for a second time. Well, for all England's celebrations, that decision really does sum up the sham of a system that this referral experiment is

Sarwan 137(221) - Nash 17(14)
WI 310-4 after 88.3 overs - trail by 290 runs
24.3 overs remaining

Feedback is pouring in from angry readers, in case the ICC happen to be reading. "What is the point of having technology if the umpires are just going ignore it and make their own crazy decisions," writes David. "I am extremely upset at that decision and i feel like turning off my television and forgetting about cricket." Andy says "the referral system is stupid"; Lloyd calls it "utter rubbish".

Meanwhile, more feedback ... "What an appalling decision that was," says Daniel from Cambridge University. "It's is pretty clear Harper won't go against his peers, in hope that they won't go against him," ponders Caze from the USA. "It's Girls Gone Wild here!" cries David from T&T, apropos of not much at all

95.2 Swann to Nash, OUT, that's close - he's rapped him on the pads and up goes the appeal. Oh lord. Here we go again - Strauss has called for a referral. Now the umpire turned that down. So, can Daryl Harper be 100% certain the ball is going to hit the stumps? Perhaps a little high, so it won't be a surprise if it's given not-out. I don't know why it's taking so long - it seems perfectly straightforward: there is enough doubt to vindicate the original not-out decision. We're coming up to two minutes of wasted time, and - well, I am flabbergasted. He has been given out. Again, it was fairly clear the ball was going over the top yet Harper has told the onfield umpire to change his decision. I'm afraid I'm speechless

BP Nash lbw b Swann 33 (43b 5x4 1x6) SR: 76.74

Sarwan 145*(233)
WI 334-5 after 95.2 overs - trail by 266
17.4 overs left today

Well, West Indian fans, I feel for you all. You've been hard done by. Dyson, West Indies' coach, is off to have a word with the match referee by the looks of it. This isn't so much a farce as a depression - cricinfo

Absolute farce. Harper should step down after this. What is the point of a referral system even when the third umpire can't make the correct decision.

As Zoot points out, West Indies don't even have a right of reply. "The Chanderpaul decision has cost them their last referral as well! This system should not be subverted to spare the umpire's blushes but to correct their mistakes."

It is interesting to note that Harper was "relegated" from the third umpire's role for the aborted North Sound Test, with Rudi Koertzen put in his place

Umpires trying to make this pitch a non-travesty

All 5 WI batsmen has been given out LBW

There is something very shady about that
