Easatheman said:Runrate has really slowed down. I guess they need some Smith beastliness at the end.
Whippy squash said:Or maybe its just one of those ODI pitches which isn't easy to hit boundaries on, in which case a player as limited as Dwayne Smith wouldn't do much. It will also be difficult to chase on this pitch the way things are going, seems like a good toss to lose to me.
zMario said:Bagooo KALOOOO!
Amjid Javed said:Smith is all legside in his play and is an inconsistant mindless slogger.
Amjid Javed said:Lara edges ball past dhoni, dropped!
2nd drop for dhoni! very poor keeper!
Easatheman said:Dwayne Smith limited? ) )
If you think this guy is limited, I suggest you go watch his century in his debut Test match. He battered the Saffies all over the park.
Whippy squash said:You go watch his numerous failures. There have been some pretty amusing ones but one that sticks in my mind was when he hit a six off Harmison over long on, very early in his innings, so Hussain was just sent to that position and Smith did it again the next over completely unaware that - shock horror - in test cricket you have to actually have a look at the field before you try to slog a better ball over the same area, and was caught out for a low score
A very mindless player, but he has an occasional good knock where his slogging comes off so he is 'beastly' apparently

Does a player never improve? I remember when Pietersen burst onto the scene, he was all legside as well. Now, he is one of the best batman in the world.
Inconsistent? He bats at number 7 or 8, there are very few consistent players at that spot. He mostly just has to hit out.
Once again, your argument is complete TOSH.
Amjid Javed said:sreesanth needs to stop talking **** and start talking wickets.
he acts as if hes curtley ambrose which his not lol!
Whippy squash said:Pietersen is very different, he knows when a ball is there to be hit and knows when one isnt. His improvement has come from his better undertsanding of spin bowling and turning from a terrible starter into a good one. He is still very legside, but having a favourite area is absolutely fine if you can actually read the game consistently like Pietersen can.
Dwayne Smith is just a flash in the pan player

Amjid Javed said:so what improvements has he made?
Hash said:Sreesanth has a habit of trying to sledge the batsman. Unfortunately for him......
a) He is crap. Not really much point in sledging if you are going wicketless at 6 per over.
b) He just doesn't have the look. If you are going to sledge you need to at least be slightly 'hard'. Sreesanth and 'hard' just don't go together. If someone whose nostrils are the size of his backside starts talking down to you......the worst that will happen is that you wont be able to contain yourself from laughter.
Sreesanth certainly has a lot to learn.
Raz said:Believe it or not his off side play has actually improved since he debuted. I've been following his progress since he debuted a few years back and in ODIs especially he just tried hitting everything to the legside. Now there are shots through the offside, when slogging though he still does prefer his leg side mid wicket area, but I have seen him hit big shots recently against Zimbabwe on the offside.
